Who We Are

Taste the Blue Bay difference!

Growing up in Europe, Andre Kogut learnt the art of cheesemaking from his maternal grandmother, who instilled in him a passion for quality, freshness and tradition. When it came to cheesemaking, 'simplest is best' was her philosophy.

Since moving to the Mornington Peninsula and establishing Blue Bay over a decade ago, Andre and three generations of his family have used these same methods to create their handmade and award-winning dairy products, proudly using local ingredients.

Each family member has their own specialty in the business, and everyone contributes to create the best possible product at every stage: from collecting the milk, to brining cheese, and selling it at the farmers' markets.

What started as a childhood lesson from his grandmother has turned into a lifelong passion. As Andre often says, “I'm happiest when I'm making cheese.”

Located in the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, Blue Bay produces handmade and award-winning dairy products from farm-fresh and locally sourced milk from grass-fed livestock.

At Blue Bay we pride ourselves on our delicious, quality and healthy products, and are driven by our principles of simplicity, freshness and time-honoured tradition.

With milk freshness an absolute priority, Blue Bay's driver collects milk directly from local farmers to turn it into product within hours of being milked. Utilising our unique pasteurisation techniques requires time and patience, ensuring that the maximum amount of nutrients are retained, resulting in a better tasting product that is high in quality and taste, which is genuinely healthy.

It's uncomplicated, fresh and delicious - the way dairy should be.

All products are made gluten free, without preservatives and animal rennet!

Our Kefir

Taste the Blue Bay difference!

Kefir is a traditional fermented dairy drink with a mild 'tang'. Consumed for centuries for its health benefits, Kefir is similar in texture and flavour to yoghurt - but with many more benefits.

Probiotic levels are 10 times more effective than most yoghurts

The probiotic level or effectiveness of yoghurt is measured by CFUs (colonising forming units). For yoghurt or kefir to have a positive effect on a person's digestive system it must contain at least 1 billion CFUs per serve, which many yoghurts on the market today do not. Blue Bay Kefir contains over 12 billion CFUs per serve AND this number will continue to grow during its shelf life.

Kefir contains 3 times more probiotic strains than most yoghurts

Most commercial yoghurts have 3-4 strains of probiotic bacteria. Blue Bay Kefir contains 10 strains. The probiotics in yoghurt and fermented milk brands are only beneficial while it is passing through the intestinal system, meaning they must be consumed every day.

Kefir can help sufferers of allergies, diabetes, autoimmune and intestinal disorders and help with day to day intestinal health. Kefir is often recommended by doctors for patients taking antibiotics or having chemotherapy.
