Introduction Microsoft Office is an office suite of desktop applications, servers and services for the Microsoft Windows and OS X operating systems, introduced by Microsoft on August 1, 1989. The first version of Office contained Microsoft Word , Microsoft Excel , and Microsoft PowerPoint . The first version of Office contained Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Desktop applications:-

Word: Microsoft Word is a word processor and was previously considered the main program in Office.

Excel: Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program.

Outlook/Entourage: Microsoft Outlook (not to be confused with Outlook Express) is a personal information manager and e-mail communication software.

PowerPoint: Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation program for Windows and OS X. It is used to create slideshows, composed of text, graphics, and other objects, which can be displayed on-screen and shown by the presenter or printed out on transparencies or slides.

Opening Microsoft Word To open Word, do either one of the following:

Double click on the “W”icon for Microsoft Word on the desktop. A blank document will appear on the screen. Or, click once on the Start button on the bottom left corner of the screen. Click on Programs. Move the cursor to the new menu on the right and then click on Microsoft Office 2007. Move the cursor to the next menu that opens and click Microsoft Office Word 2007. A blank document will appear on the screen.

Moving Around Within a Microsoft Word Document To move around in a Word document, do any of the following:

Use the scroll bars to the right of the document window. Use the wheel between the left and right mouse buttons. Use the Page Up and Page Down keys to scroll up or down quickly. Use the arrow keys and click with the mouse to move the cursor. Hold down the CTRL key and press the HOME or END keys to go to the beginning or the

end of a document.
