IntroductionWe thank you for considering Sievwright - The White Glove Mover. Our aim is to make your move trauma-free and hence a happy, memorable experience for you and your family. Our experienced consultants can explain how we go about taking care of the details for you. However there are some things you must handle for yourself. The following step-by-step personal checklist system will assist you in making your relocation easier.

Let’s take it easy - One thing at a time.Is Sievwright - The White Glove Mover handling the packing and unpacking? If so,the consultant will advise you what our responsibilities are, prior to our team of ladies arriving. Are you responsible for packing? If so, please make sure you have arranged for us to deliver the packing materials you require, in adequate time. You don’t want to be still packing when our moving team move you out, do you? Delays on moving day, could involve extra charges.

Things to do right now If renting, advise owner or agent the

required notice.

Advise schools of re-location, photocopy children’s school records and carry with you for enrolment in your new location.

Advise authorities of your move and date of departure.

Advise gas, electricity and water authorities. Arrange final meter readings and disconnection of utilities and arrange for reconnection at new address.

Advise Postal Service. (Australia Post)

Advise Phone Service.

Advise your Bank/Building Society/ Credit Union.

Advise Electoral Register.

Advise Hire Purchase Companies, and any other stores where you have accounts.

Advise your Doctor, Dentist, Solicitor and Clubs.

Advise your Library “Don’t forget to return those books”.

Don’t be a “pack rat”. Why pay to move items you no longer want. Start fresh, tour your house inside and out, including the garage and yard. It’s amazing you will discover the number of things you don’t need. Why not “Throw a going away party - Garage Sale” your neighbours will have something to remember you by.

Try to use up your supply of frozen food and pantry stock, no sense in buying more only to have to move!

Check with the Manufacturer of your fridge, washing machine dryer and other electrical appliances to see if there are any special procedures required for relocating each item.

Arrange for an electrician to disconnect any special lights or fittings that you would like to take with you.

Think ahead! Here’s a tip. Using graph paper, draw a scaled plan of each room, and place appropriate scaled pieces of paper to represent each piece of furniture where you would like it to be placed in your new home. Give copies to Sievwright removalist in charge and this could assure a happier move for you. Determining the placement of furniture in your new home can save a lot of frustration on moving day.

7 - 10 Days before the move If you plan to do some of your own

packing, we would suggest that you start now. Ask us for packaging materials, and make sure you identify each box carefully, and nominate the room in which it should be placed.

Cancel all of your delivery services.

Tidy gardens, cut lawns, remove rubbish and it is wise to empty fuel from mowers, lamps and fuel heaters.

Clean out your medicine cabinet, and dispose of unwanted drugs.

Make arrangements to move your valuable documents, money and jewellery and remember, anything of great value should be carefully itemised, and special insurance should be taken out.

Collect all things from the cleaners and anything that has been in for repair. Return anything belonging to neighbours and finalise outstanding accounts.

Arrange for children to stay with friends or relatives on the big day.

Arrange for pets to be transported. Animals hate moving so they need special attention.

Discard all cleaning supplies, caustic materials, bottles containing liquids or any other which, if shipped, could damage your belongings.

Make a list of items not to be moved. Allocate an area for the things you are not going to take with you.

On the big dayBe sure to tell our men as soon as they arrive whether they may use the drive or not. (They will want to know this for your new home too).

Point out to our men what goods are to be packed and moved. This way they can work out how much space is needed, so they can allow enough loading space for fragile items.

Turn off the water heater and drain it.

Tighten all taps.

Check gas and electric switches are off.

Nothing left lying around the garden?

One last look around the house, left anything?

Lock windows and doors.

Now you can relax. You have earned a drink. “Farewell to your neighbours”. You are on your way to your new home!

At your new residence Send a relative or trusted friend ahead if

possible. This way your new home will be open and ready to receive your furniture. They can show our moving team where everything is to be placed, should you be held up for any unforeseen reason.

Ensure you undertake a final “walk through” of your new residence with the removalists, to ensure everything is in place and accounted for.

If you are getting unpacked by Sievwright, the ladies will have everything sorted for you, everything put away and packing materials removed, ready for collection the next day.

Finally, farewell “The White Glove” team, shut the door and begin your new life journey! Enjoy your new home.
