    Introduction

    Cosmetics are substances used to enhance the appearanceof the human body. Cosmetics include powders, lipsticks, ,eye and facial makeup, and body cosmetics. A subset ofcosmetics is called "make-up," which refers primarily tocolored products intended to alter the users appearance.

    Many manufacturers distinguish between decorativecosmetics and care cosmetics. The word cosmetics derivesfrom the Greek (kosmetiktekhn), meaning "technique ofdress and ornament", from (kosmtikos), "skilledin ordering or arranging" and that from (kosmos),

    meaning amongst others "order" and "ornament".

    Today, cosmetics are big business.According to the Australian Bureau of

    Statistics, retail turnover forcosmetics, pharmaceuticals andtoiletries is over A$12 billion a year.

    Cosmetic advertising is now targetinga wider audience than ever. Most ofus males and females care about

    our appearance.

    Statement of the Problem

    Cosmetics are any products or substancesused to enhance a persons appearance or

    odor. These may include powders,

    lipsticks, eye and facial makeup, and bodycosmetics. The manufacture of cosmeticsis currently dominated by a small number ofmultinational corporations that originated in

    the early 20th century, but the distributionand sale of cosmetics is spread among awide range of different businesses.

    This study determines the responsesof women regarding the use ofcosmetics including the possible

    effects of cosmetics to women.

    Objectives

    To find out what are the factors that affect the useof cosmetics by women .

    To find out the make up preference of mostwomen.

    To determine if using cosmetics have any negativeeffects on women

    To determine the impact/s of cosmetic usage onwomen

    Whether they are influenced and inspired by thefactors in their environment

    Methodology

    Gathering of Participants

    35 women of ages 15-25 wereused as participants in this survey. 17females from ages 15-20 and 18females from ages 21-25, The surveywas conducted in a random manner to

    know their various responses.

    The Survey Questionnaire

    The survey questionnaire was composed of

    closed-ended and open ended questions includingRanking method. The survey questionnaire wasconducted both inside and outside the schoolpremises.

    Collection of Data: Data will be collected according to the answers

    of the participants. The data obtained will beundergoing a comparison process through

    tabulation to determine the response of mostwomen towards the use of cosmetics.

    Conclusion

    As far as the study is concerned, it has been found out thatmost of the women nowadays use cosmetics to enhance theirappearance and that the most utilized item by women is thelipstick. Women of ages 15-20 use makeup often while thoseof 21-25 years of age use cosmetics everyday. Fashion or the

    latest trend is the greatest factor that affect most of thewomen and that the primary concerns of women in usingthese cosmetics are to boost their confidence and for thepurpose of fashion. As consumers of cosmetic products, mostof the women consider the quality in purchasing these

    products and that most of them prefer foreign brands.

    Despite the fact that most women use cosmetics, it cannotdeny the fact that they can still face other people in the samemanner without using makeup. With regards to negative

    effects of using makeup, it has been found out that mostwomen of ages 15-20 does not encounter problem withregards to use of cosmetics though the opposite has beenfound out for women of ages 21-25. Though, the commonproblems encountered by women of ages 15-20 with regardsto use of cosmetics are skin irritation and appearance ofacne. O the other hand, skin irritation is the most prevalentproblem for women of ages 21-25 followed by appearance ofacne. Use of cosmetics also have impacts in their personalitysuch that for women of ages 15-20 use of cosmetics have thegreatest effect of making them presentable while use of

    cosmetics for women of ages 21-25 makes them attractive.
