National archives of Iran
The National Archives of Iran are the main official authority responsible for the collection, preservation, processing, and information dissemination about documents of national and historical importance and are thus one of the important and sensitive hubs of research, training and culture in the country.
The archival troves of Iran were located in Ekbatana,
Babylon, Shush, Persepolis and the other seats of the parsian kings.

History of Iran Archives
In modern times during 1901-1930, a French-
Belgian mission proposed to improve the state filing system.
In 1930 the idea of the creation of a state document center was passed in a bill of the council of the Ministers.
In 1966, a bill for the creation of the national documents center was drafted.
In 1970, it was finally passed by the parliament.

single institution and providing public access to them.
To minimize the costs of maintaining archives of different governmental departments and other state institutions by gathering them in one place.
The destruction of unwanted paperwork To preserve public records for future reference and
research. To increase knowledge by providing information to
the government agencies and public.

It has capacity of
housing ¼ million of books
It include: Humanities Primary sciences &
techniques Periodicals and Iranian studies.

Magazines Newspapers News bulletins Seminar reports Year books.
All printed matter published within regular, pre-set intervals.
Nearly 2500 titles of contemporary periodicals and over 5000 titles of old periodicals are cited.

The national archives was housing 4157 manuscripts in
1976 and by 2004, it was 18000 priceless collections such as those of-
Sheikh Jaafar Shoushtari family including 537 manuscripts, the Molla Mohsen Ghazvini family including 112
manuscripts The manuscripts trove of the Iranian National archives is
one of the most invaluable assets of the country which includes the knowledge treasures of great Iranian men of letters in fields such as philosophy and mysticism, Islamic jurisprudence and principles, medicine and astronomy in Farsi and Arabic.

There are over 1.5 lac photos and slide items alone in this trove.

In this Department, all documents undergo specialized pathology tests and if necessary are restored or repaired based on the damages incurred on them-

manpower training; Determination of document lifespan; Systematisation of archives and necessary
manpower training; Identification and acquisition of documents
