Is Engineering for me?Slides prepared for:

Poveda Career Month -January 20, 2016

Hey! I’m Mithi!BS Electronics and Communication Engineering University of the Philippines Diliman

Hey! I’m Mithi!Co-Founder of NANICA.IO , a young and small robotics education start-up

Hey! I’m Mithi!Basically, I learn stuff about programming, electronics and mechanics, and then apply what I learned in a useful (hopefully?) way.

What is Engineering?

Engineering is to apply math & science stuff to make (or improve) useful stuff for people (& earthlings in general)

- greater than 800 lumens light output

- warm white color temperature 2700–3000K

- 10 watts (vs 75 watts)- 87% < energy than

incandescent - 44% less energy than a

comparable compact fluorescent bulb.

But, is engineering for me?

The sure fire way to know is to do engineering stuff right away, and see if you like it.

Two simple things.

ONE: DOING ENGINEERING STUFF MEANS

learning how things work (math, science, theoretical stuff)

It’s easier more than ever to get world class education ...

at the comfort of your own home, at your own pace, for free.

all you need is internet access and a little dedication.

TWO: DOING ENGINEERING STUFF MEANS using your new skills and knowledge to make awesome useful things.

Ann Makosinski GSF 2013 Winner in her age groupHollow Light

In Summary, we discussed: - Engineering, by definition

know if you’d like engineering, is to try it.
