TRANSCRIPT
Is there a time when you can remember feeling especially welcomed? What happened to make you feel that way?
Romans 15:7
NOTE: This is our third week unveiling the church’s renewed vision which is being called the DNA of a Transformational Church. For the next several weeks Todd and others will discuss one key word that will guide who we are becoming as a congregation. This week’s word is WELCOMING. We want to be a church where all people can passionately worship God.
Think about the word “host”. Who is a host? What qualifies them to host? What sorts of things do hosts do? What makes someone a good host?
Here at Hilton Head Island Community Church, YOU are empowered to be a host. What are some ways that you can be a host?
What is preventing you from feeling like a host?
How can you practice being a welcoming host beyond Sunday mornings?
Who are the people that you find difficult to welcome?
Read Galatians 3:28
How can you take a risk to step out of your comfort to be a host to them?
Part of what we are welcoming people is to passionately worship God.
Read Hebrews 10:22-25 (The Message translation, if possible)
Have you ever considered that your worship can be creative, encouraging, and active?
In what ways would you like to take a risk in your worship of God?
How might someone else benefit from your worship in the church?
Prayer Prompt: Is there a way that you feel compelled to welcome others or worship God that you’ve been delaying? Take some time to ask God to give you courage to take a next step today. Have you ever been the recipient of someone else’s generosity?
