Being global, thinking local
It was 1910.Carlo Badinotti, a great passionate of sport fishing, he
decided to opened a net factory. With tenacity and passion, Badinotti was born.
As time has passed many things have changed in the company, however the spirit of the company has
always remained the same since the company was born.
Overtime, the management of Badinotti was delegated from father to son with the management of the company which has always followed the same
principle: excellence in quality of production. The right business decisions, combined with extensive
experience gained over time, have brought great results: Badinotti today is recognized as one
of the leading companies worldwide in the production network of nets without node produced
on Raschel looms.
Thanks to Badinotti knotless nets are used in the fishing industry for the idea that generated in by
Badinotti in 1962.
If you think of retirement as when you feel lost or where people have nothing to do, read what Giovanni Badinotti did. This gentleman, now senior after
spending his life working in the offices of the City, reached the fateful moment. Instead of setting aside,
he opened a net store in the area of Porta Vigentina in the heart of Milan. We are in the early twentieth
century, Giovanni is not limited in selling only fishing nets but also fishing lines, floats and all that is needed
for a fishing passionate of the lakes close to where he is.
Usually not all the passions of the fathers are passed to their children, Carlo, son of Giovanni does not want to know anything about fishing, as a matter of fact he
began working as an engraver. Probably his father would have let him do this job if he had seen him make
a living out of it, but that was not the case.
Giovanni decides to wait five or six years then tries again to urge his son. Giovanni suggests to his son,
to take over the shop in order to make a bit of money. Carlo replied that fishing shop does not match his
interest and thinks that his father has finally surrounded in persuading him to take over the shop. Mistaken. the father still has a card to play, the decisive one. Because he liked fishing so much he knew which
fishing stores were the best equipped in Milan. The store which was best equipped and had a vast variety
of stock was located in Agnelo St., just behind the Duomo of Milan.
At that time the store was directed by a girl, which was very unusual during those years. She is called
Annunciata Colosio, she comes from Monteisola an island on Lake Iseo. This island is full of net
manufactures which have been doing this for nearly a century; since the Emperor Francesco Giuseppe, head of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, give to his people the
task of repairing the remaining nets of the Venetian fleet. From the people of Monteisola Annunciata has
learned the art of manufacturing nets. Annunciata and her family are all masters in the arm mount and nets,
furthermore Annunciata, is beautiful and she is not yet married.
Giovanni devises a way to bring together the two young men. A few years later Giovanni and the beauti-
ful girl from monteisola got married with Carlo. They decided to take over the fishing store in Porta Vicentina
and with the help of Annunciata Carlo starts to understand something about fishing.

Badinotti employs the most modern machinery and offers a complete range of both knotted and knotless
netting in nylon, polyester, polypropylene, and polyethylene for aquaculture, fishing, safety and sport.
In a dynamic industry with constant changes, our
company recognizes the need to employ the newest technologies available and thereby producing the best
netting more efficiently and in wider widths. The large production capacity allows us to offer
excellent delivery times.
Modern technology allows us to supply product with the best durability and weight/breaking-strength
ratios in the industry. While some manufacturers have high variations in breaking strength, our netting has
very consistent properties. High yarn quality ensures consistent product performance. The modern facilities also allow us to develop NEXT™, which is made with
UHPPE, a fiber so strong that it is used for amour protection.
Vertical integration allows the company to carry out the complete production process: weaving, fixing, dyeing
and quality control of final product.
Whatever the final use, each net warrants specific properties: resistance; durability; volume and weight.
Badinotti produces several types of netting

POLYESTER NET (PES)
MAIN FEATURES OF POLYESTER FIBER:
Sinking (density = 1,38) Highly resistant to breaking Good flexibilityLow elongation Good UV resistance
Due to the high break resistance, polyester is used in production of bird protection nets. High resistant fibre, also suitable for frequent washing in net washer due to its low level of shrinkage. COLOURS: black/whiteVery resistant fiber, suitable to withstand frequent washing in the net washer machine. In fact, the net made with this material have a low level of shrinkage. BADINOTTI can provide a coated net to increase the durability.
POLYPROPYLENE NET (PP)
MAIN FEATURES OF POLYPROPYLENE FIBRE:

NEXT®
HPPE is the high performance polyethylene fiber with almost unlimited applications.
The strength of HPPE results in a smaller twine diameter
and therefore in lighter, stronger, and more efficient nets. Successful applications of HPPE in netting include trawl nets, aquaculture nets, and purse seine nets used in commercial fishing industry,
safety nets used in the construction industry, as well as cargo nets used in the transport/logistic sector.
The most common brands are Dyneema®, produce by DSM (Holland) and
SPECTRA® produced by Honeywell (USA).High strength, low weight, small diameter:
NEXT NET made with HPPE is stronger and lighter than any other
traditional material used for netting. Its strength allows the use of twines with a smaller
diameter. NEXT NET used in a trawl net results in up to 50% thinner twines compared to
polyamide of the same wet knot strength. This leads to significantly less drag in water. Considerable
weight savings can be achieved for applications on land or in the air (e.g. cargo nets).
Durability: NEXT® nets made with HPPE do not absorb water and retain their knot strength,
compared to knots in nylon netting which lose about 10% to 20% of their dry knot strength when
submerged to water. With low elongation of approximately 5% (at breakage) and no shrinkage
in water, the mesh size remains stable in normal use of the netting. NEXT NET made with HPPE are highly resistant to cutting, tearing, abrasion and UV
light, and are unaffected by moisture.
NYLON (PA) + POLYETHYLENE (PE) NET
Main characteristics of a mixed Nylon + Polyethylene net, combine both the advantage of
lightness of polyethylene combined with higher strength and breaking load of polyamide fiber
This type is mainly used for fish farming where sites
are located in protected areas sheltered from waves and strong winds.
All of our manufacturing facilities for a strict quality control process and are ISO 9001 registered.
We choose to purchase 1st grade, UV treated yarn, specifically manufactured for netting applications. It
meets strictest quality standards for breaking strength requirements and is also tested with Xenon-arc equip-ment for exposure to UV. All incoming yarn shipments
undergo testing to verify product quality.
The company’s dedication to quality is also evident by monitoring the following standards by our in-house
quality assurance laboratories and is monitored for:
Shrinkage
Mesh size
Colour consistency in dyed netting
Break strength
Consistent weight of netting.
Yarn quality from suppliers (yarn that does not meet UV requirements,
tenacity and other important factors for the production of netting is rejected and
returned to its suppliers)
Monitoring of netting for residual breaking strength after exposure.
BADINOTTI’S technical department keeps close relationships with yarn and equipment suppliers to
ensure that the best customer service and product quality is offered.
Each bale is tagged at the beginning of production in order to ensure traceability
of the final product. This control assures that the nets meet
the specified requirements by the client.
Upon completion, the netting undergoes a final inspection process. This ensures that every shipment will meet specific properties for resistance, durability,
volume and weight.

Badinotti understands that the only constant in fish-farming is change. Due to increased environmental
regulations cages, today’s cages and nets tend to be bigger and deployed in more exposed conditions. As
bigger cages increase efficiencies, they also pose a higher financial risk to farmers. It is important to provide
only the best nets, using the best materials. Nets are required to be made to the highest quality standards.
As the netting made by Badinotti offers the highest breaking strength / weight ratio in the industry, we also
produce the best netting available for the assembly of the net. Our highly trained staff assures that the
assembled net will withstand the most difficult environ-ment of the open ocean.
Strict procedures in the assembly area assure that each net is made consistently to the same standard.
This attention to detail insures that the final product meets the clients demands for years to come.
As each geographic area has unique requirements, Badinotti employs staff to assist the client in develop-
ing the most effective net design. Net design is an important factor of the overall performance of the net.
We consistently challenge the Status Quo in order to improve on the final product. Improvements are made by developing new assembly techniques and fiber se-lection. Most recently Badinotti introduced the NEXT™
net which is stronger and lighter than any existing product in the market place. fis

In Fish farming, due to ever stricter environmental regulations and the desire for cost reduction, there is a distinct trend towards using bigger, offshore cages.
Furthermore, provided living conditions can be kept good, more fish per cage will be farmed.
The consequences of these trends are:Production in rougher conditions
Higher risk due to the increased value of fishFewer possibilities for inspection and mainte-
nence
In view of these trends, high reliability of the net cagesis a prerequisite.
The reliability of the net cages, i.e. the capability to re-tain fish avoiding therefore the risk of escape, depends
on the following factors:Netting breaking strength
Loss of strength due to wear and tear of net for use
High quality of assembled products;
The above elements can be hugely affected by raw materials used for nets manufacture as well as the
method adopted for construction.Fully aware of all these aspects, Badinotti, as one of
the major netsuppliers, uses the most modern machinery offering a
wide rangeof knotless netting in nylon, polyester, polypropylene,
and polyethylene for aquaculture application.
Our European production sites can boast a largeproduction capacity, offering therefore excellent
delivery times.
BADINOTTI NET SERVICES CANADA and BADINOTTI NET SERVICES CHILE provide a

What is Bio-Security? Bio-security is the protection of aquaculture economy, environment and fish health from pests and diseases. It includes the prevention of new pests and diseases,
and the eradication or control of those already present. Benefits
Protecting the environment Protecting your investment
Healthier aqua farmed products
At BADINOTTI NET SERVICES CANADA and CHILE, bio-security starts at the top with the policy makers and is adopted much like a mission
statement. We have empowered every employee in our service chain with the authority to restrict access and report any possible breaches in our bio-security
network. These principles are woven into our corporate structure through strict procedures and a zero toler-
ance enforcement policy.
WASHINGOur service facilities can only be accessed through a series of specially designed secured entry points.
Every item received into our facilities for service must undergo a mandatory disinfection process before moving to any other department for service work.
All personnel and vehicle traffic between the various service departments flow through controlled access
bio-stations to ensure the integrity of our bio-security system. Net washing forms the foundation of our total net service package. Large facilities and modern net cleaning equipment allow us to clean huge volumes of fouled nets in a timely manner. Using the most ef-fective and proven industry standard methods of net cleaning technology, high pressure water wash and
drum washing machines, we can quickly and efficiently transform even the most fouled net pens into clean
and ready to use items. All personnel, equipment and items entering or leaving the net washing compound
must pass through a bio-security access station. Every net that we wash is also disinfected to absolutely
ensure that any and all pests or disease present are eradicated.
DISINFECTIONOne of the most important issues in the aquaculture industry today is bio-security and the prevention and control of infectious diseases in the aquatic environ-
ment and fish farms. To prevent the spread and eliminate the possibility of new outbreaks, we disinfect
every net pen that arrives at our service facility. Every net pen without exception is disinfected by being
submerged in a temperature controlled disinfection tank. Net pens are totally submerged in the 65 °C hot water bath for a period 1 hour to ensure the destruc-
tion of any unwanted pests and diseases. In Chile use chemical disinfection according
the national regulation.

REPAIROur highly trained force of net service technicians have
years of combined experience in the field of net pen dam-age assessment and repair. A quality inspector verifies the results of every assessment team to construct an
assessment/damage report, recording information such as number of holes, patches, worn or broken ropes, dam-
aged rings, sewing and seizing. The typical assessment process includes a series of net-
ting break strength tests that are performed on prede-termined areas of the net pen. The complete information
obtained from the assessment process and break strength tests is then recorded in our net management database
to build a repair history for every net. The repair history is a permanent record and can be traced throughout the entire
lifecycle of a net pen. The wealth of information recorded into our net manage-ment database allows our customers to track and report
net pen damage and repair history at the site level for any net, generate customized net pen repair history reports or compare break test results to preset company standards
and effectively monitor any potential quality issues. Other Services Offered

The Badinotti Group produces a complete line of nets for commercial fisheries and operates facilities in prime
markets for purse seines.
This includes both knotted nets and raschel knotless nets made from Polyamide (Nylon),
Polyester, Polyethylene, HTPP (high tenacity polypropylene) and HPPE fibers.
Recognizing the constant need for improvement,Badinotti always invests in new technologies.
Since their inception, the company and its subsidiaries in Peru and Chile have become global leaders
in the manufacture of netting for commercial fishing applications.
Badinotti is proud to be considered one of the first producers of knotless nets for commercial fishing and introduced this product in 1962. With this technology,
knot slippage is avoided and net shape remainsunvaried. As the netting is flat, abrasion is reduced,
which increases longevity.Over the course of half a century, Badinotti had been
instrumental in making raschel knit netting the number 1 choice fishing gear.
Along with knotless netting, our group also produces the best quality knotted nets for fishing anchovies, her-ring, capelin and tuna available today. These products are made in both the twisted and braided variety and
are offered from sizes 210/6 to 210/480.
Unlike some others, all Badinotti nets are pressure dyed to ensure perfect color penetration in the knot
and are depth-ways or lengths-ways stretched in order to avoid possible knot slippage.

Security at the workplace and throughout recreation areas has grown significantly in the past years.
The laws and the standards recently introduced are more rigorous both in the European Community and in
individual Countries.Badinotti netting is approved to meet the standards for
safety nets in the European community.
Safety nets are produced according standard 1263-1.
Badinotti protective netting is produced with rascheldouble front looms. The smooth surface, given the lack of knots, prevents possible injury to people or
damage to things on impact.
Studies show double face nettingwith equal resistance to single face netting (used in fishfarming nets) offers a greater sense of safety, thanks to
the visible constancy of the volume of the net itself. The netting is available in diameters
from 2.3mm to 5 mm.
Protective netting is classified according to application:Personnel safety nets or debris nets to prevent
people or objects from falling from sky runs, bridges or buildings.
They can also be used to prevent loads from falling from industrial racking or the covering of loads for
containers.
