iSPORT 1958 – 2018: Standards

Seventy-eight teams will represent Iona College this week across AFL, rugby league, rugby union, football and chess. Our cross country squad will also be training, laying their aerobic base for future competition and some will participate in the District Championships. It is relentless activity and organisation that requires our entire community to work together for the involvement and enjoyment of our players. As our winter season progresses, please be mindful of the following:

THINK before you speak ACT with respect

PLAY in the spirit of the game.

The draw is complex, especially in light of not all colleges having the same number of teams. Teams will at times need to travel to get to games. Byes are also unavoidable as are games against each other.

Players need to train and they also need to work at fitness and skills in their own time. Watching rugby / football / chess via the various media platforms to understand rules and tactics would also be helpful as some players need to know more about the game in which they are competing in.

Players who listen, train hard and display determination will achieve.

Sincere congratulations to those who gained 1st football and

rugby selection as well as Open chess selection. They need to

know the way, show the way and go the way so that our teams

follow their high standards.

Ensure that we warmly welcome all visiting officials, spectators

and players this weekend.

Expressions of Interest: Cross Country Camp 2018 (12 years – Open)

We are seeking expressions of interest from students who will be involved in cross country this year, to attend a camp to be held during the June / July holidays. We will travel by bus to and from the camp at Tallebudgera and all meals (upgraded in size), training, accommodation, entry to Bounce Super Park and transfers would be included in the cost. We would like to get a strong indication of numbers so that accurate costings can be made. Your expression of interest does not commit you to the camp nor does it guarantee a place on the camp. It does not guarantee a spot in the cross country team to run at the AIC Championships next term. The final team will be decided early next term based on attendance at training and performances at time trials leading up to the championships. If your son is interested in attending the camp, please complete the slip (students have access to the letter on the cross country google classroom) and return it to Student Reception, or email [email protected] and express your interest by Thursday 26 April. Further details about the camp will follow.F
