Our SAS staff play an important role in the school community. They are often the first people you see when you enter a school and are essential to maintaining positive relationships with students, parents and the community.

On behalf of Lawson Public School, I would like to thank all of our SAS Staff for the tremendous job they do in supporting our students, staff, school and community.

School Banking School Banking has been temporarily suspended and we hope to resume in Term 4.

Uniform Shop The uniform shop is currently closed; however, orders can still be placed at the school office. Permission Notes When returning permission notes for school activities it is a legal requirement to return a SEPARATE permission note for each child. If you pay online it is still necessary to return the permission note to the office. In addition, if returning multiple notes for more than one child/activity, there is no need to put each note into a separate envelope. We are able to process multiple payments for multiple activities/children in the one transaction. Please ensure your child/s full name and class are on the permission note. Please remember for P&C activities such as fun food day/uniform shop, please do not pay online as the P&C have their own banking process and only accept cash or cheques made payable to “Lawson P&C Association”. Lost Property Lost property is located outside of the School Office. We still have a considerable amount of clothing without names clearly marked on them, lunch boxes and miscellaneous items to be reclaimed. Please remind your child to check lost property regularly for lost items.Any items which have a students name on them are sent to their classroom.

Personal items such as glasses, wallets, watches etc are all held inside the front office. Any unclaimed uniform items will be sent to the uniform shop for resale and all containers and drink bottles will be disposed of.

HOPE IS HERE I’m looking out the window at the sky

I start to cry as I wonder when will I see my friends, family and others again

I reach my hand out to my family a hand tries to come to me but never reaches me

I’m scared that the end will never come I cuddle closer to my mum and dad but no one else

not my friends or grandparents these days are oh so low and dark but hope is here glowing over us

telling that we can do this; telling that we are in this together

that this battle is going to end as the sky turns blue

and the door opens

by Miley T-J 14/7/2020

Miley from Lawson PS Stage 3 entered a ‘Creative Youth’ Competition and won 1st place in her age category with this amazing poem. The judge’s comments: “A powerful and heartfelt poem that speaks to so many people’s experience at the moment.” Well done Miley on your fantastic achievement.

News from the Aquanauts

Art in Aqua Aqua used ‘snapshot frames’ to capture images of bicycles on small pieces of cardboard. Next, they started creating collages using crayon, pencil, texta, coloured paper, scissors, glue, lead, paint and pen. Each student is creating four different images using four different mediums and their final pieces will be compiled as a whole picture.

Teacher’s Chair!!!!! Look at these beautiful kidlets with 60 Dojo points this week. Way to go Scarlett and Sina.

Aquanauts Amazing Bicycle Sculptures

After studying bicycles in Creative Arts this term, Aquanauts used soft wire to create these

amazing sculptures. We have them on display in our classroom. Such incredible talent and skill went into making these

fabulous pieces of art. Well done Aquanauts, very impressive.

Scoop from the Coop Interview with the Chickens

Stage 2 Aqua thought they’d get to know our chickens better by asking some tough questions in a tell-all interview. Here’s the low down straight from the chicken’s mouth errrr……beak!!!! Q 1. How are you finding your coop? Is there anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable? Answer- We have settled in nicely thank you. The chandelier is such a nice touch. We love what you’ve done with the place. We feel so at home and we have fitted right in with these friendly bunch of kids. Seeing as you’re asking, we would love to visit some classrooms and do some learning. We see and hear the students working every day and we would like to join some lessons. Perhaps we could teach the kids something too. Q 2. Who is your favourite celebrity chicken? Answer- Oh that would have to be Chris ‘Hensworth’. Q3. What can we do to improve the meals? Answer- Less citrus, more carrot, juicy snails and more worms. Q4. Have you all made friends? Answer- Some of us are bossier than others but we usually enjoy each other’s company. It’s good to have a scratch together and we cluck and chat. Q5. Naked Neck – does your neck get cold? Answer- Actually my neck has thicker skin so I don’t feel the cold. Q6. Who’s your favourite teacher? Answer- Amanda. *Interview questions generated by Stage 2 Aqua. All answers were correct at time of publication. You can check with the chickens if you don’t believe us.

magpie markets

We have been working hard behind the scenes to get our

markets back up and running.

This has been a long and in-depth process to make sure

we are complying with both council and NSW health

Covid safety rules and regulations.

We have made the decision to not hold a September

market and we will make a decision at the next meeting

regarding the rest of the year.

uniform shop The Uniform Shop will operate via orders through the school office for

now.

Our space is very small and is not equipped to adhere to safe social

distancing rules.

We are hoping this will change throughout term 3 but for now we

appreciate your cooperation.
