August and September tend to be a fairly quiet time for events, but a busy time for arts groups which are planning, organizing and rehearsing for the forthcoming busy autumn period.

However, many of our members do carry on with their activities during the holiday period, and their details are in this issue. These include the Ealing Outdoor Club, art and dance groups, a jazz concert at St. Mary’s Perivale in September, and an exhibition at the PM Gallery in Walpole Park. Other music events start again in September. The holiday period is a time for relaxing and improving one’s general wellbeing, and the question of whether exercise is good for you will be the subject of a talk at the meeting of the Univer-sity of the Third Age in September.

Preparations are well under way for the 3rd Ealing Autumn Festival in October, which will celebrate two anniversaries, of composer Delius and Charles Dickens. More informa-tion within these pages.

6000 copies of this Diary of Events are distributed every two months around Ealing Borough, although we can be fairly certain that many of the events which are publicised in this issue will attract visitors from a very wide area.

We have recently agreed new very advantageous advertising rates – for both members and for non-members. Enquiries please to [email protected].

Member clubs and societies of EA+L currently number over 100, and represent much of the Ealing arts scene. However there are probably other arts groups who could increase their membership and publicity by joining EA+L, and we always welcome their enquiries to [email protected].

Writing this in a dull and rainy July I hope the sun will eventually emerge and that you will enjoy a great summer ……..

John Hummerston, EA+L Chairman
