حتية من رئي�س املدر�سةالنشرة هذه خالل من أعلمكم أن سروري دواعي لمن إنه غير الخارجي االعتماد متطلبات حققت قد المدرسة بأن المشروط من قبل منظمة الواليات الوسطى العتماد الجامعات المؤسسة تقرير اكد وقد .٢٠١٤ العام ولغاية والمدارس، المانحة لالعتماد، والذي استلمته المدرسة في شهر ديسمبر ٢٠١٠، على مالءمة المسار الذي اتخذته المدرسة لإلستمرار في توفيرالتعليم المتميز لطلبتها. فقد إبتدأت المدرسة، ومنذ التي اإلستراتيجية االهداف تطبيق على ،٢٠٠٩ / ٢٠١٠ العام وضعتها لتحقيق هذا الغرض. ويمكن تلخيص هذه األهداف في اربعة محاور رئيسية هي: تطوير المناهج، التطوير المهني، الحياة نوعية في والتطوير التكنولوجيا، مجال في التطوير الطالبية، وقد أثنى تقرير االعتماد على الجهود المبذولة لغاية

االن لتحقيق هذه االهداف.كما استضافت المدرسة في شهر نوفمبر٢٠١٠ فريقا مؤلفا من اربعة عشر شخصا جدا، جيدة الزيارة نتيجة وكانت والتدريب، التعليم جودة ضمان هيئة من حيث أكد الفريق على دقة الدراسة الذاتية التي قدمتها المدرسة وعلى مالءمة لتطوير المبذولة الجهود للتطوير، خصوصا المدرسة التي وضعتها المشاريع الثاني عشر وربطها بسمات متعلم المناهج من الحضانة األولى ولغاية الصف البكالوريا الدولية والتي تعتمدها المدرسة كترجمة عملية لفلسفتها. وال بد هنا من اإلشارة الى أن الفريق الزائر قد أعجب وبشكل خاص بطلبة مدرسة إبن خلدون حيث أعطوهم تقدير »ممتاز« على البند المتعلق بتطورهم الشخصي، إذ رأى الفريق بأن الطلبة ناضجون ولديهم القدرة على التعلم المستقل، األمر الذي

هو لمن دواعي فخرنا وإعتزازنا. وعلى صعيد آخر، تستمر المدرسة في تطوير المالعب والساحات الخارجية، حيث تم تركيب أرضية مطاطية سميكة في ملعب الحضانة خالل عطلة الصيف، اضافة تم كما والخامس، الرابع للصفوف السلة كرة لملعب جديدة وأرضية العمل المتوسطة والثانوية، وتم المدرستين مناطق مظللة جديدة في مالعب على معالجة االزدحام المروري امام المداخل المختلفة للمدرسة. كما تم تحديث كافة اجهزة الوقاية من الحريق في جميع مباني المدرسة وفق متطلبات اإلدارة العامة للدفاع المدني. أيضا، تم شراء سبعين جهاز كمبيوتر لتحديث جميع مختبرات الحاسوب في المدرسة، إضافة الى امور عديدة اخرى تلحظونها هنا

وهناك عند زيارتكم للمدرسة. وتطمح المدرسة الى االستمرار في تطوير المالعب والساحات والى زيادة اعداد الصفوف، غرف داخل التكنولوجيا من المزيد واستخدام التفاعلية السبورات

وغيرها من األمور التي من شأنها صقل عمليتي التعلم والتعليم. وفي الختام، أتمنى لطالبنا المزيد من التطور متمنيا أن يستمر التعاون اإليجابي

President’s welcomeIt gives me pleasure to inform you that the school has earned unconditional accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools until 2014. The accreditation report that the school received in December 2010 confirmed the path that the school has chosen for continuing to offer a distinguished education to its students. The school started implementing the strategic goals determined for this purpose since 2009/2010, which consist of four main areas: curriculum development, professional development, development in the area of information technology, and development in the quality of student life. The accreditation report commended the school for the efforts made in fulfilling these goals so far. The school also hosted a team of fourteen reviewers from the Quality Assurance Authority for Education and Training (QAAET) in November 2010. The outcome of the QAAET visit was very good as the team confirmed the accuracy of the self-study that the school submitted to the team prior to their visit, and supported the school’s developmental projects, particularly the curriculum development project from KG to Grade 12, and the linking of all IKNS curricula to the IB Leaner Profile which the school adopts as a practical translation of its philosophy. The QAAET team was particularly impressed with the students at IKNS and awarded them the level “outstanding” for their personal development, as the team noted that IKNS students are mature and able to operate as independent learners- something we are highly proud of. On a different note, the school continues to develop the outdoor playgrounds; a thick rubber surface was laid in the KG playground during the summer vacation, the Grades 4 and 5 basketball playground was re-surfaced, and more shaded areas were added to the Middle and Secondary schools’ playgrounds. Solutions were also found for the traffic jams that arise around the school campus, all fire-fighting equipment around the school were modernized to satisfy the regulations of the General Directorate of Civil Defense, and seventy new computers have been bought to upgrade all computer labs in the school. Other improvements were completed over the summer vacation that you might notice when you visit the school.The school aims to continue to develop its playgrounds and increase the number of interactive boards and the use of technology in classrooms, among other improvements that aim to enhance the processes of teaching and learning.Finally, I wish our students continued development, and trust that the positive cooperation between the home and the school continues for the sake of our dear students.

حفل التخرج التا�سع ع�رشتحت رعاية صاحب السمو الملكي األمير خليفة بن سلمان آل خليفة، رئيس الوزراء الموقر، وبحضور صاحب السمو الشيخ علي بن خليفة آل خليفة، نائب رئيس الوزراء، اقامت مدرسة ابن خلدون الوطنية حفل تخرج الفوج التاسع عشر من طلبتها في فندق الخليج وذلك يوم السبت الموافق ١٢ يونيو ٢٠١٠. وقد حضر الحفل حشد من أصحاب المعالي

والسعادة والسمو وكبار المدعويين وأولياء أمور الخريجين وأقربائهم.

وفي كلمة المدرسة، تقدمت السيدة فريدة المؤيد، رئيسة مجلس اإلدارة، بأسمى آيات الشكر والتقدير الى صاحب السمو الملكي األمير خليفة بن سلمان آل خليفة، رئيس الوزراء الموقر، لدعمه المستمر لعملية التعليم في البحرين في قطاعيه العام والخاص. وكما تقدمت بخالص الشكر والعرفان الى صاحب السمو الشيخ علي بن خليفة آل خليفة، نائب رئيس الوزراء، لتكرم سموه بحضور حفل تخرج المدرسة، مما يعكس اهتمام سموه الصادق والبليغ في دعم العملية التربوية في

بحريننا الحبيب.

وخاطبت السيدة المؤيد الخريجين محدثة إياهم عن أهمية السعي الجاد لبلوغ أعلى درجات المعرفة والعلم. كما شكرت حكومة البحرين الكريمة، وافراد الهيئتين التعليمية واإلدارية في المدرسة، وأعضاء مجلس آولياء األمور ومجلس اإلدارة ومجلس األمناء، لبذلهم كل ما في وسعهم لتوفير السبل لمدرسة إبن خلدون الوطنية لتتحول من مدرسة صغيرة في بداية الثمانينيات الى مدرسة مرموقة

ومتميزة على الصعيدين المحلي واإلقليمي.

وقد ضمت دفعة الخريجين مئة وتسعة طالبا وطالبة، تسعة وثالثون منهم حصلوا على دبلوم البكالوريا الدولية والباقي، وعددهم سبعون، حصلوا على شهادة المرحلة الثانوية.

تهانينا الحارة لجميع خريجينا وخريجاتنا ولذويهم، مع أطيب تمنياتنا لهم بالنجاح والتوفيق في دراستهم الجامعية. كما نتقدم باحر التهاني الى الطالبة مريم مكي التي حصلت على جائزة برنامج ولي العهد للمنح الدراسية العالمية.

The graduation ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries, VIP guests, parents and relatives of the graduating students.In her speech, Mrs. Fareeda Almoayed, Chair of the Board of Directors, thanked His Royal Highness, Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister, for his continued support to education Bahrain in both the public and the private sectors. She also thanked His Highness, Shaikh Ali Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, for attending the IKNS nineteenth graduation ceremony, which reflects his Highness’s deep and genuine interest in supporting the educational process in our beloved Bahrain. Mrs. Almoayed spoke to the graduates about the importance of striving for the highest levels of knowledge and education. She also thanked the government, the school faculty and staff, the PTSA and all members of the Boards of Directors and Trustees, for enabling IKNS to transform from a small school to a well established and recognized school locally and regionally.The graduating class included one hundred and nine students, thirty-nine of them obtained the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, and the other seventy students obtained the High School Diploma.We extend our warmest wishes to all our graduates and their parents, and wish them all the best in their university studies. We also extend our sincere congratulations to our student, Mariam Maki, who won the Crown Prince Award forInternational Education.

Staff IftarThe school held an Iftar at the Gulf Hotel in September 2010 to celebrate the start of the 2010/2011 academic year. All faculty and staff members were invited, and were joined by members of the Board of Trustees, the Board of Directors and the Parents, Teachers and Students Association in their celebration.

The Iftar was attended by Mr. Farouq Al-Moayyed, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Adel Fakhro, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mrs. Fareeda Al-Moayed, Chair of the Board of Directors, Mrs. Sonia Qambar, Secretary to the Board of Directors, and Shaika Dina Al-Khalifa, Chair of the Parents, Teachers and Students Association.

Mr. Farouq Al-Moayyed welcomed the guests and wished them a successful year ahead of them, and also presented

commemorative medals to the school employees who completed twenty years of service at IKNS.

These were: Mrs. Adeela Al Mahroos, Mrs. Amal Al Haddad, Mr. Ameer Al Wardi, Mr. Mukhtar Al Majed,

Mrs. Nawal Sharaf and Mrs. Sameera Zubari.

نتائج امتحانات البكالوريا الدولية لدورة مايو ٢٠١٠برنامج متطلبات ٢٠١٠، حيث حققوا جميعهم مايو لدورة الدولية البكالوريا وثالثون طالبا إلمتحانات تسعة تقدم

الدبلوما وبنسبة نجاح مقدارها ١٠٠٪.

وبلغ معدل المدرسة العام ٣٣ نقطة مقارنة بالمعدل العالمي والذي بلغ ٢٩,٥٥، حيث حصل خمسة طالب على ٤٠ نقطة فما فوق وسبعة عشر طالبا على ٣٣ نقطة فما فوق، وجاءت أعلى درجة في المدرسة ٤١ نقطة )من اجمالي ٤٥ نقطة(.

Thirty-nine IKNS students sat for the International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations session in May 2010. All candidates succeeded in satisfying the requirements of the full diploma with a passing rate of 100%. The IKNS mean point score was 33 points in comparison to 29.55 mean point score worldwide. Five candidates scored 40 points or above, and 17 candidates scored 33 points or above, with the highest score being 41(out of a total of 45 points). Table 1 and Chart 1 show the analysis of the May 2010 results per subject. The number of IKNS candidates who satfor each subject, the number of students achieving each grade (out of 7), and the IKNS and worldwide averagegrades for each subject are also shown in table 1. The Ibn Khuldoon Honor Society (IKHS) ceremony was held on the 30th of May 2010. Twenty-two inductees,

from the Secondary School, were honored in the presence of their parents, teachers and students, as well as

representatives from the Board of Directors. The names of the new members of the IKHS are listed below. We

congratulate them all and wish them continued success.

The three areas that constitute the criteria for qualification to membership in the Ibn Khuldoon Honor Society (IKHS) are:

academic excellence, personal and citizenship qualities and involvement in extra-curricular activities.

انتخابات جمل�س الطلبة يف املدر�سة االبتدائية

Under the supervision of the Student Council Advisor, Miss Basma

Mattar, students of Grades 4 and 5 held their Student Council elections

in the Elementary School.

Students were given the chance to nominate themselves for the various

offices. With the help of their friends, students campaigned by putting

up posters and offering labels to supporters. On the day of the elections,

each student gave a short speech outlining his/her views and suggestions.

After the speeches, everyone had an opportunity to cast their vote for the

candidate, or candidates, of their choice.

Congratulations to all students who chose to run for office and for

displaying such a high standard of sportsmanship. It was a wonderful

experience for all who participated.

As part of the community service program and to strengthen the relationship with the local community, the Heritage Club and the Honor Society students organized an outing with the orphans. The outing took place on Saturday, 6 November 2010 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at MacDonald’s –Tubli branch. The students bought lunch for all the orphans and celebrated the birthdays of three of them. Our students presented all the orphans with gifts that were age appropriate. The orphans enjoyed their time and were happy with their gifts. Our students had a lovely experience, and all went home with a smile on their faces.

من ضمن انشطة خدمة المجتمع المحلي، إشترك كل من نادي »جو جرين« في المدرسة الثانوية ونادي »كييب إت جرين« في المدرسة المتوسطة وصف األستاذ روز البيئي، بتنظيم حملة لتنظيف الشاطئ العام في منطقة الحد وذلك يوم السبت الموافق للسادس عشر من شهر أكتوبر. وقد تم النشاط بالتنسيق مع مدير الموارد البشرية في الشركة العربية لبناء وتصليح السفن الواقعة في تلك المنطقة. وقد شارك تسعين طالبا وطالبة في عملية التنظيف حيث انقسموا إلى مجموعات مختلفة بمهمات متنوعة تضمنت، التقاط النفايات من كافة أنحاء الشاطئ؛ تنظيم النفايات

بهدف إعادة تدويرها؛ غسل أسقف المناطق المظللة؛ غرس األشجار، إضافة الى طالء األسوار.

وكانوا طالبنا شديدي التنظيم في مختلف أوجه الحملة وكانت الشركة مسرورة جدا بجهودهم في تنظيف هذا الشاطئ العام لمنفعة المجتمع المحلي.

As part of the community service program, the Secondary School’s ‘Go Green’ club, the Middle School

‘Keep it Green’ club and Mr. Rose’s Environment class, were all involved in organizing a public beach

clean up in the Hidd area. The event was coordinated with the Human Resource Manager of the Arab

Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) company, and was organized for the afternoon of October 16 2010.

Ninety of IKNS students took part in the clean-up and different groups were allocated with different tasks,

which included picking up waste from all around the beach, organizing the waste to be recycled, washing

the coverings of the shaded areas, planting trees, and finally, painting the fences. Our students were very

organized in all aspects of the project and the company was very pleased with the IKNS students’ effort in

cleaning this public beach for the benefit of the local community.

Al-Hidd Beach clean-up

ألقيت نهار الثالثاء الواقع في ١٩ أكتوبر ٢٠١٠، محاضرة لطلبة الصف الحادي عشر حول رؤية البحرين االقتصادية ٢٠٣٠. القى المحاضرة عن هيئة التطوير االقتصادي كل من السيد منذر بوهندي والسيدة وجدان فهد.

وضح المحاضران للطلبة رؤية البحرين االقتصادية للعام ٢٠٣٠، كما تحدثوا عن حاجات سوق العمل البحريني. وقد تضمنت المحاضرة عروض سمع-بصرية لشبان بحرينيين تحدثوا من خاللها عن خبراتهم، كل حسب مجاله، في مشاريع

مختلفة قاموا هم بتأسيسها.

A lecture on Bahrain’s Economics Vision was given to Grade 11 students, on Tuesday, 19th October 2010. The lecture was conducted by Mr. Munther Buhindi and Ms. Wejdan Fahad, an Economic Development Council team.

The two lecturers highlighted Bahrain’s Economic Vision for the year 2030, and the Bahraini Labor Market needs. The lecture included video presentations from Bahraini young entrepreneurs, who talked about their experiences, each in his or her area.

The IKNS sports teams have participated in all major and minor sports that were organized by the Bahrain Private School Sports league (BPSSL) for the first season, 2010/2011. As a result of the high skills, fair play, outstanding sportsmanship and team spirit that our students enjoyed, they managed to achieve the results below. Well done boys and girls, and a big thank you for all the coaches who helped in preparing their teams.

م�سابقة يف كرة القدم اأثناء ف�سحةطة الغداء يف املدر�سة املتو�س

المدرسة في االجتماعيين المرشدين من اربعة حضر الخليجي لصعوبات التعاون لدول مجلس الرابع الموتمر التعلم والذي تم تنظيمه في دبي في شهر أكتوبر ٢٠١٠. المرشدون االجتماعيون الذين حضروا المؤتمر هم األساتذة

بسمة مطر، ألين بيزرلي، رمزي الحوت، وإيناس عقرباوي.

المؤتمر حول قضايا مختلفة من ضمنها وقد تمحور يوما إلى إضافة الحساب، وعسر األداء وخلل القراءة عسر موضوعات حول تحفيز المتعلم وكيفية دعم األهل البنائهم في

حاالت صعوبات التعلم تلك.

وسينظم المرشدون االربعة الذين حضروا الموتمر ورش عمل لنقل الخبرات التي حصلوا عليها الى باقي افراد الهيئة التعليمية.

حضر ثالثة من إداريي المدرسة، وهم الدكتور كمال عبد النور، واألستاذ أيمن

الزعنون، الدكتورة ميساء عفور، مؤتمر نيسا لمدراء المدارس الذي أقيم في

كاتماندو، نيبال، في أكتوبر ٢٠١٠.

وقد كانت مدرسة ابن خلدون الوطنية واحدة من احدى مدارس مملكة البحرين

العديدة التي اشتركت في هذا المؤتمر الذي كان شديد التنظيم وقيما إلى أبعد

الحدود. وقد اكد االداريون الذين حضروا المؤتمر على اهمية االطالع على

التطورات العالمية في مجال التعليم وعلى ضرورة التالقي بمدراء من مدارس

أخرى لبحث ومناقشة كيفية االفادة من هذه التطورات في مدارسهم المختلفة.

المدرسة في االرشاد صفوف بين قدم كرة مسابقة الرياضة دائرة نظمت المتوسطة، حيث تجرى هذه المباريات أثناء فسحة الغداء وبإشراف اثنين من

مدرسي التربية البدنية.على كل فريق أن يجد اسما خاصا لفريقه، كما قد يصمم الفريق زيا خاصا يرتدونه خالل المبارايات. وعلى األقل، يجب أن يتضمن الفريق طالبة واحدة،

وتعود مسألة زيادة هذا العدد إلى الفريق ذاته.تستمر فعاليات المسابقة لغاية نهاية شهر مارس ٢٠١١.

Four IKNS counselors, Ms. Basma Mattar, Ms. Aline Bazerly, Mr. Ramzi Al-Hout and Ms. Enas Aqrabawi attended the Fourth GCC Learning Disability Conference, which was held in Dubai in October 2010.

The two-day conference centered on discussing issues including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, in addition to topics on motivating the learner and how to support parents of students with learning difficulties.

The four counselors who attended the conference will organize in-school workshops to convey their experiences to other IKNS faculty members.

Three IKNS administrators, Dr. Kamal Abdel-Nour, Mr. Ayman Zanoun,

and Dr. Maisae Affour, attended the NESA Leadership Conference held

in Kathmandu, Nepal in October 2010.

IKNS was one of many schools from the Kingdom of Bahrain who joined

this conference. The conference was very well organized and extremely

valuable. IKNS administrators who attended to conference emphasized

the importance of the conference as one access to global developments in

the field of education and the importance of meeting with other school

leaders to discuss such developments and the feasibility of implementing

them in their schools.

The P.E. Department has organized a soccer competition between homeroom classes in the Middle School. The games are held during the lunch break, and are officiated by two P.E. teachers.

Each homeroom has to come up with a team name. They may also design a uniform for their team to wear during their game. Each team must have at least one girl; however they can have more, if they wish.

The competition will run through the end of March 2011.

اليوم املفتوح يف احل�سانة واالبتدائي

عمل مكتب التنسيق الجامعي خالل األشهر الماضية على تنظيم انشطة مختلفة لطلبة الصفين الحادي عشر والثاني عشر على حد سواء. فقد زارت المدرسة بريتش جامعة تورونتو، وجامعة إيست، نورث جامعة بينها من عدة جامعات كولومبيا، وجامعة بنتلي، حيث شرح مندوبو هذه الجامعات عن جامعاتهم وعن

البرامج التي يقدمونها.

كما نظم المكتب معرضا للجامعات البريطانية في ٢٧ أكتوبر، ٢٠١٠، اشتمل على ست وثالثين جامعة من مختلف أنحاء المملكة المتحدة.

وفي ٣١ أكتوبر، أقامت المدرسة االمسية الجامعية السنوية لطلبة الصف الثاني عشر وأولياء أمورهم . وقد تم الحديث بشكل رئيسي خالل تلك االمسية عن عملية اختيار الطلبة للجامعات وعملية تقديم طلبات االلتحاق بهذه الجامعات.

PSAT إضافة إلى ذلك، نظم مكتب التنسيق الجامعي في ١٣ أكتوبر، امتحان الالعاشر والحادي عشر كافة، حيث جلس لالمتحان ٢٣٥ الصفين لجميع طلبة

طالبا وطالبة، وستكون نتائجهم متوفرة في األسابيع القليلة القادمة.

أقامت المدرسة االبتدائية وقسم الحضانة اليوم المفتوح في أواخر شهر سبتمبر، ٢٠١٠. الهدف من اليوم المفتوح هو دعوة أولياء األمور إلى المدرسة لمقابلة معلمي أطفالهم لتلقي شرح من المعلمين حول برامج المدرسة المختلفة وتوقعات المدرسين. وقد تم إجراء اليوم المفتوح لقسم الروضة، والصفوف من األول الى الثالث

والصفين الرابع والخامس كل على حدا.

وكان التجاوب مع اليوم المفتوح إيجابيا جدا، حيث أن األهالي والمدرسين على السواء استفادوا من مقابلة بعضهم البعض والنظر في بعض القضايا المرتبطة بالعام الدراسي الجديد.

During the past few months, the College Placement Office (CPO) has been actively organizing events for both the Grade 11 and Grade 12 students. Many universities visited the school including Northeastern University, University of Toronto, University of British Columbia and Bentley University, where they gave presentations to students about their universities and programs offered.

The CPO also organized a UK University fair on October 27, 2010, which included 36 universities from all over the United Kingdom.

On October 31, 2010, IKNS held its annual College Night for Grade 12 students and parents. The event covered critical topics about university selection and application process.

On October 13, 2010, the CPO organized the PSAT exam for all grade 10 and 11 students. All 235 students took the exam and their results will be available in the coming few weeks.

In late September, the Kindergarten and Elementary School held their Open House. The purpose of the Open House was to invite parents to the school to meet their child’s teachers and to have the teachers explain the school’s program and teacher expectations. Separate Open Houses were held for KG, Grades 1 to 3 and Grades 4 and 5.

The response to the Open House was very positive, and parents and teachers thoroughly enjoyed meeting one another and having a few minutes to reflect on the academic school year.

ن�ساط بيع املاكوالت ل�سالح حملة فكر باللون الورديكجزء من نشاطات الصفوف االرشادية، نظم طلبة الصف الحادي عشر نشاط بيع ماكوالت لدعم حملة فكر باللون الوردي للتوعية بمرض سرطان الثدي. وقد أقيم النشاط أثناء الفسح الخاصة بالمدرستين في الواقع االثنين يوم وذلك والمتوسطة الثانوية

الخامس والعشرين من أكتوبر٢٠١٠.

والبطيخ، بالوردي، المطلية الحلوى قطع بيع عبر من عدة أخرى أصناف بين من الوردي، والجيلو

األطعمة، تمكن الطلبة من جمع أربعمائة دينار بحريني تم التبرع بها الى حملة فكر باللون الوردي والتي بدورها تجمع التبرعات بهدف شراء جهاز رقمي للتصوير بالرنين المغناطيسي لعيادة السرطان في مستشفى السلمانية.

وقد كان النشاط ناجحا، حيث اظهر الطلبة احساس عال بالمسؤولية في دعم حملة التوعية بمرض سرطان الثدي.

As part of their homeroom activities, the Grade Eleven students organized a bake sale in support of the Think Pink – Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. The bake sale took place during the Secondary and Middle Schools break time on Monday, 25 October 2010.

Through selling pink-coated cupcakes, watermelon, pink jelly, among many other food items, Grade 11 Students managed to collect four hundred dinars, which went for the savings towards a digital MRI for the Cancer Clinic in Al-Salmaniya Hospital.

This was a successful event. Students showed great dedication and responsibility in support of the breast cancer awareness campaign.

The Elementary School Faculty would like to extend a warm welcome to all new students joining the Kindergarten and Elementary sections of the school, and wish each and every one of them every success and happiness as they adjust to their new school environment.

There were also a number of new faculty and staff who joined IKNS this year. The administration is immensely pleased that these faculty and staff chose to become members of the Ibn Khuldoon National School community. We hope that they will enjoy their experience of living in the Kingdom of Bahrain and working at IKNS.

Elementary School Welcomes New Students and New Faculty and Staff Members

As part of the School’s efforts to strengthen relations with the local community, students of 5A visited Alia Center for Early Intervention. Upon arrival to the center, our students were given a presentation on autism and its different forms, which was followed by a tour of the center. Our students were able to observe classes and interact with students through craft making and games.

Grade 5A students donated books for the students of Alia Center, which had been carefully selected for them.

The students were accompanied on the trip by Mrs. Ewa Abuszyniec, Activities Coordinator, and Mrs. Majd AlZaghal, Elementary School Counselor.

Grade Five Students Visit to Alia Center for Early Intervention

Classes started on October 31 and run for six weeks, ending just before the school’s winter break. Classes are being taught by the School’s Activities Coordinator, Mrs. Ewa Abuszyniec, who is a graduate of the Vienna State Opera Ballet School in Austria.

اجتماعية. As part of the School’s efforts to strengthen relations with the local community, students of Grade 5B visited the Friendship Kindergarten for the Blind in Sanad. The Friendship Kindergarten has an enrollment of 11 students, aged between 2 and 7. All children in the kindergarten are blind, and some of them suffer additional disabilities.

IKNS students were given a short tour of the kindergarten’s facilities. They also visited classes and interacted with students.

Students of Class 5A, kindly, donated some of their own toys to the Friendship Kindergarten students. The students were accompanied on the trip by Mrs. Ewa Abuszyniec, Activities Coordinator, and Miss Basma Mattar, Elementary School counselors.

Teachers and staff were honored on Teacher Appreciation Day by the PTSA and students of Grade 5. During the morning assembly, teachers and staff were presented with roses and tote bags. The tote bags had been decorated in the Art classes by Grade 5 students. Also, during the morning assembly، students of Grades 4 and 5 read poems that were selected for the occasion.

Teachers and staff were touched by the thoughtfulness of the PTSA and the efforts put forth by the Grade 5 Art students under the supervision of their Art teacher, Mrs. Shatha Hurani.

students’ photos were sent home to parents to

give them the opportunity to purchase their

children’s photos, if they would like to do so.

Orders will be collected, organized, and

submitted to the studio and, hopefully, the

packages of photographs will be completed and

sent home to those parents who ordered them by

early January 2011.
