Introduction 

 Ciao! I will tell you about Italy, my country. So come along with me to learn about it.    Sardinia 

 Wow who knows all about Sardinia? In Sardinia there is the beach. There are very high waves. There are also children playing with sand in Sardinia. There are ice cream and chips sold in the beach. The chips are different. Only Sardinia has this kind of chips. The chips are called crocias. They are made of potatoes and have a different taste. They are salty and of course delicious.     

              

Seasons 

 What sound is that? It is rain! So, bring you umbrella! Poom! It went away. Now it’s sunny. But in two minutes, it will be windy. How did that happen? Seasons change a lot. Snow! That’s when there are traffic jams. Children throw snowballs. I guess that’s Christmas time, the most fun celebration for children in Italy. People prepare special food and children play together. It’s also when you get presents.   

Famous People 

 Wow! I am going to tell you about some famous people in Italy. The first one is Sofia Loren. Guess what? Sofia is my name, that’s cool. She is a famous actress. She is older now, nearly seventy years old.  

                                           Now you are going to learn about Marco Pantani. He was the Italian winner of cycling races. He kept going and going. Even if there was rain he never gave up the race. When Marco Pantani was a kid he always wanted a bicycle. So he did get one. That’s how he became stronger at cycling. That’s how he won many races.   

                                      

What we play 

  Poom! poom !  What is that sound? It is a ball being kicked. Soccer is the most famous game in Italy. Our uniform is blue with white stripes. Italian soccer players have white pants. The goalkeeper has black or white gloves. Italy is one of the strongest teams in the world. Everybody enjoys watching soccer.  

 

Fashion 

 Brrrr! It’s very cold out side but it’s turning sunny. Now I have to dress in warm clothes.   In Italy, girls dress with skirts, shirts, dresses and pants. Boys dress with sport t‐shirts and pants. I also have to tell you what girls and boys wear on their feet. Let’s start with the girls. Girls wear socks, mocassins, ballerina shoes and All Stars. Boys wear sandles and also All Stars.  When it snows, we wear coats, gloves and hats. 

    

Yummy Food 

 Mmmm…I smell something delicious! It’s pizza and pasta! Ciao. I guess it’s Italian food. So let me tell you more.   The margerita pizza is enjoyed by most people. It has red sauce and mozzarella cheese. Most Italians eat pasta with tomato sauce. We also eat a lot of salad and vegetables.  In Italy there are different types of ice creams. The most popular one is made of yoghurt and it’s called gelato. The chocolate ice cream with nuts is delicious!   

Famous Places  Hey! Hey! Hey! Do you want to know about the famous places in Italy?   Have you ever heard about the Leaning Tower of Pisa? If you have been to Italy, you may have seen it. If you haven’t, you have to visit the Tower of Pisa because it is going to be fun. Now, this is important. People say that the Tower leaned by itself. But this is not true. The ground under it made it lean. Do you know how many steps the Tower of Pisa has? It’s 294. Wow! That’s a lot. I think it took many years to build the Tower and its stairs.  Did you know the Tower of Pisa is 800 years old?
