SCCA Club Racing Project

What Is SCCA Club Racing?• Amateur drivers competing in production

based and purpose built race cars on a closed circuit• Cars are regulated by power-to-weight

ratio and Prep Level basis to regulate competitiveness • Drivers compete for points and trophies,

no prize money• Wide demographic of drivers and crew

Fall Practicum at Mid-Ohio

Previous MSTE 217-417 ProjectsPast projects include:• New rear brake package

• Front brake cooling

• New engine

• Rear suspension tuning (AKA Rear Anti-Roll Bar RARB)

• Refurbish all dampers

• Transmission rebuild

• Chassis dyno tuning

• Front upright re-design

• Exhaust system re-design

Spring 2015 Projects• Lower the car at least 1” front and rear• Remove weight from the car• Diagnose and fix transmission leak• Design and build FARB drop links• Fabricate engine test stand for dyne• Fabricate the new exhaust system• Prep the car • Compete with the car

Here’s How• Utilizing this weekly scheduled meeting for planning and discussion• Weekly scheduled work session for plan execution• Required updates every week• Regular communication through Oncourse• Note: A successful student will spend 10 – 20 hours EACH week doing

class work
