What is the IMRB?

The International Mines Rescue Body (IMRB) was created on May 29, 2001 in Poland, initially formed by Poland, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, South Africa, Australia and the United States. This union undertook to exchange information on operations, methods, principles, training, and equipment - all these issues being akin to mine rescue. In addition, our objective is to encourage and support international cooperation in this sector.

The International Mining Rescue Body Conference is a training and retraining event in the prevention of accidents and mining rescue. The conference is held biannually, and is organized by an IMRB member country. The event includes exhibition sessions, short courses and technical visits. Keynote presentations are held by expert professionals in security and mining rescue.

The objective of the conference is to consolidate a network of knowledge in the prevention of accidents and mining rescue, i.e. a team united to save lives.A workshop will be held with the members of the IMRB in 2019 – and for the first time in a mining rescue conference. This activity will seek to reengineer the organization.

The importance of the IMRBfor the world of Mining Rescue

Colombia at the IMRB

Colombia has had a National Mining Rescue Service since 1987. This agency has been developing mining emergency response operations and training services for members of the mining rescue body, especially in underground mining.

The National Mining Agency – (Agencia Nacional de Minería – ANM) is the official entity under the Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy that exercises authority in mining-related issues in the national territory. ANM also enforces compliance with mining safety standards of Títulos Mineros (mining permits), and manages the National Mining Rescue Service, which groups over 3,000 active members.

The National Mining Agency – as the official representative of Colombia, participated in the International Mining Rescue Conference that took place in Russia in September 2017. During this session, Colombia was admitted as a member of the International Mines Rescue Body (IMRB), and appointed as the host of the IX International Conference that will take place in September 2019. The IX Conference shall focus on the following five thematic axes:

The Venue

Grand Hyatt HotelThe Grand Hyatt Hotel is the official venue of the IX INTERNATIONAL MINES RESCUE BODY CONFERENCE - 2019. It is located near El Dorado International Airport of Bogotá. The Grand Hyatt features one of the largest Convention Centers in the city. The hotel opened in August 2018; it has 372 rooms, including 50 suites. The rooms

have an extraordinary panoramic view of the capital city.
