PART I. GENERAL

1. GENERAL It is the intent of these specifications and the accompanying plan to set

forth the work to be executed and material to be furnished for the

construction of self elevating barge.

The barge to be constructed and outfitted in accordance with these

Specifications and drawings attached.

The construction and outfitting of the Barge to be carried out in

accordance with good marine practice and Korean Industrial Standard (KS),

builder's standard and/or sub-constructor's standards, unless specially

agreed or stated herein.

Anything not mentioned in these specifications, but required by the

Classification Society and/or governing regulations shall be supplied

and/or fitted by the Builder's cost.

All language for plans, drawings, instruction books and documents to be of

English.

If inconsistency are found between the Contract and the Specifications

and/or the Specifications and drawings,the former shall prevail and govern

unless otherwise mutually agreed.

If Owner will desire to apply the amendments and/or changes to the Barge,

the Builder will submit in a written document, which includes the effect

on

the Barge price, delivery date or any other items which may affect the

Contract.

These amendments or changes will come into effect after agreement has been

reached between the Owner and the Builder written consent has been signed

between both parties.

2. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE BARGE

The barge shall have squared stem, raked stern and crane space on upper

deck for coastal working self elevating barge.

The Barge can be jacked up by 4(four) supporting legs, the legs are moved

up and down by a hydraulic system.

The main hull below upper deck to be divided by transverse and

longitudinal bulkheads into fore void, machinery space, void tanks and

water ballast tanks, fresh water tanks, etc.

The machinery space and pump room shall be arranged to install generators,

hydraulic power packs, pumps and others auxiliary machineries. etc

as shown on General arrangement drawing.

Deck house shall be arranged on aft deck as shown on General arrangement

drawing.

3. PURPOSE OF BARGE

The Barge shall be designed for shore station and accommodation for pilots

at coastal area.

4. SERVING AREA

The Barge shall serve several locations at the outer bar of Shatt Al Arab

River close to Basra oil terminal and coastal area

6. CLASSIFICATION

The Barge shall be constructed in accordance with the rules and

regulations, and under special survey of KR, and shall be distinguished

in the register by the symbol of

: KRI, Hull +, Machinery +, Offshore self elevating unit,

Special Service(Shore construction work)

7. RULES AND REGULATIONS

8. CERTIFICATES

Upon delivery of barge, the builder is to furnish following certificates

and submit to the Owner.

‐ Classification certificates ‐ International tonnage certificate ‐ Builder's certificate

Other certificates to be supplied according to Specifications and Contract.

9. MATERIALS

When any materials described in this Specification cannot be obtained in

item,it is to be allowed to use suitable substitution materials in place

of specified ones with Owner's agreement.

10. TRIM AND STABILITY AND INCLINED EXPERIMENT

After her substantial completion, an inclining experiment to be carried

out to ascertain the light weight and the position of the center of

Gravity of the barge at the finished light condition in the presence of

the owner's and Classification Society.

The final trim and stability calculation according to loading condition

informed by Owner to be furnished by Builder and approved by the

Classification Society on behalf of the Flag administration.

11. TRIALS AND TESTS

The following trials and tests to be performed by the Builder.

1) Self Elevating test.

2) Anchoring test.

3) All machineries operating test.

4) Ballasting & deballasting test.

5) Hydraulic & air test for tanks.

6) Function test for electric equipments.

7) Other tests required by Classification society.

The Builder is to submit three(3) copies of the plans and

drawings for approval to the Owner, and the owner is to return one of

those plans to the Builder within fifteen(15) days after receipt of

drawings.

On delivery, three(3) copies of the finished plans and equipment

instruction manuals to be furnished by Builder to the Owners.

Finished drawing to be corrected according to final works without any

difference by Builder.

All the finished plans to be in English and maneuvering instruction to be

in English.

The lists of approval and finished plans to be submitted to the Owner and

tobe mutually agreed between the Owner and Builder.

13. FINISHING DRAWINGS

On delivery, each three(3) copies the finished plans and equipments

instruction manuals to be furnished.

The lists of finished plans to be submitted to the Owner are to be

mutually agreed between the Owner and Builder.

14. INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION

The Barge to be inspected and supervised by Owner representative during

the construction of Barge.

The inspections and tests to be carried out in accordance with Class

requirement and Builder’s practice of inspection and test.

15. DELIVERY

When completed, the Barge to be delivered to the Owner, afloat at the

Builder's wharf or contracted delivery place under Contract terms.

The spaces for tanks, machinery rm, void spaces, bilges, etc, to be free

from

damage and dirty and painted surface to be cleaned, and stores to be

properly stowed in steel or wooden boxes.

PART II. HULL CONSTRUCTION

1. GENERAL

Structural steel including casting and forging to be approved by the

Classification Society, and of good quality confirm to the requirements of

the Classification Society.

The works to be executed in accordance with the Builder's practice

equivalent to international shipbuilding standards and approved by the

Owner and the Classification Society.

Welding to be executed by manual welding, gravity welding and/or

automatic welding for the entire hull structure assembly as per certified

welder by Classification..

The Barge to have two(2) longitudinal bulkheads and six(6) transverse

bulkheads.

2. OUTLINE OF HULL STRUCTURE

Framing system of hull construction as follows in principle.

Upper deck, side shell and bottom shell : Longitudinal system

Bulkheads : Transverse system

3. SHELL PLATING

Shell plating thickness to be in accordance with Class rule.

All shell plates to be welded in seams and butts.

Shell plating in way of supporting legs hole and sea chest opening to be

suitably increased in thickness of fitted doubling plate as per rule.

4. BOTTOM CONSTRUCTION

Single bottom to be arranged throughout hull.

Bottom frames and stiffeners to be arranged longitudinally at midship.

Built type Bottom transverses and vertical pillars in voids to be arranged

on

every frame space(abt. 1500mm) as shown on Midship section drawing.

Bottom girders to be fitted as shown on Midship section.

Sufficient water passage holes to be provided in the ballasts for

de‐ballasting to minimize dead water as much as possible.

Machinery foundation to be reinforced strong enough to prevent Vibration

and reinforced under construction.

5. FRAMINGS

Trans. web frame spacing to be of abt. 1500mm amidship throughout.

Longitudinal framing system to be adapted to deck, side shell, bottom

shell and longitudinal bulkheads.

Others to be of transverse framing system.

Built type web frames or transverses shall be fitted as shown on Midship

section drawing.

6. DECKS AND BEAMS

All decks to be of steel welded in seams and butts.

The upper deck throughout to be longitudinally framed supported by deck

transverses as shown on Midship section dawing.

Built up type deck transverses to be fitted on every frame spacing(1500mm)

as shown on drawing.

Deck girder to be fitted as shown on Midship section drawing.

7. PILLARS AND GIRDERS

Built‐up type or steel pipe pillars to be provided under upper deck to suitably support girder and transverses fitted on frame spacing.

8. BULKHEADS

Watertight transverse and longitudinal bulkheads to be extended to upper

deck and to be constructed as per general arrangement.

All bulkheads to be of plane type with vertical stiffeners and to be

welded construction as shown on drawings.

Horizontal stringer and vertical web shall be fitted on bulkheads.

9. SEA CHEST

Sea chests and overboard discharge fittings for ballast system to be

constructed of heavy plate and also side shell plate around large opening

to be heavy plate or with double plates.

Two(2) of sea chests to be provided for ballast pumping in machinery room.

The sea chest to be equipped with hinged strainer made of Galvanized plate,

with clear area of two (2) times the total area of the sea valves.

In side of each suction sea chest to be coated with two(2) coats of tar

epoxy

paint and to be fitted with zinc anodes for two(2) years.

Fitting bolts and nuts of sea chest to be of stainless steel.

10. DECK HOUSE

Deck house to be constructed with steel on aft upper deck as shown on

general arrangement drawing.

Steel wall inside of accommodation shall be of corrugated plate, Outside

wall of superstructure shall be of flat type with vertical stiffeners or

corrugated plate.

11. JACK HOUSE

Jack houses to be constructed with steel on fore and aft upper deck side

as shown on general arrangement drawing.

All Jack houses to be of plane type with vertical stiffeners and to be

welded construction as shown on jack house construction drawings.

Horizontal stringer and vertical web shall be fitted on jack houses.

Jack houses to be reinforced strong enough to support the supporting legs

and reinforced under jack houses.

12. WELDING

The welding specification to be designed according to Class rule.

Ballast tanks and wetted spaces shall be continuous welding.

PART III. PAINTING & CORROSION PROTECT

1. PREPARATION AND PAINTING

Steel plates and sections for hull are to be coated with one (1) coat of

zinc

primer immediately after shot blasting to SA 2.5. before steel cutting for

fabrication.

Before the first coating applied, damage area of shop primer and rusted

steel surface to be power tool cleaned at erection stage and block stage

on accordance with the following table.

1.3 One(1) set of provision crane of 1.0 ton capacity.

1.4 Two(2) sets of gang ways on each side with berthing place for supply boat.

3. SMALL HATCHES AND MANHOLES

Steel hatches and manholes to be fitted as shown on General Arrangement.

Basically each one(1) or two(2) sets of manhole to be fitted to each

compartment of ballast tanks, void tanks, F.W tank and F.O. tank.

Rubber seal and closing cleats to be fitted on each hatch.

The manhole bolts and nuts to be stainless steel.

The manhole cover to be fitted with hand grips and marked with the name of

compartments by painting together with welding bead.

Neoprene packing (NBR) for all manholes to be used except F.O. tank.

Packing to be oil resist material.

Fittings on hatches shall be used good quality of marine use.

4. STEEL LADDERS AND STEPS

Vertical and incline ladders and steps, hot galvanized to be fitted for

access to tanks, store and etc under each manhole and access hatch as

General Arrangement.

PART V. MACHINERY

1. GENERAL

All machineries and equipments to be fitted according to specifications and

regulations in these specification, and inspected by Classification society and

Owner.

The machineries of diesel generators and other equipments shall be arranged in

machinery space.

All diesel engine to be marine type with MAPOL exhaust gas emissions

certificate & technical file.

The capacity of generators, pumps and other equipments to be designed suitable

capacity for the purpose of the Barge.

The electric power plant to be consist of three (3) set diesel engine driven

main generators, and supply necessary electric power to electric motors driving

various auxiliary machineries, electric motors for deck machineries, lighting

system, communication equipment and etc.

One(1) set diesel generator shall be provided for the harbor condition.

The generator engine to be started by battery and charging from battery charger.

Design conditions for the machinery room and equipment shall be based on the

maximum sea water temperature of 37℃ and the engine room temperature of 60℃,

unless otherwise especially stated.

The pumps, fans, motors, pipes, valves and other components fitted on or

supplied together with certain machinery or equipment as accessories shall be

made in accordance with each maker's standard.

2. MACHINERIES

2.1 Electric generators

Generator and diesel engine to be marine type approved Classification

Society.

Fuel oil for diesel engine shall be use of marine diesel oil.

Necessary piping for fuel oil, cooling water and exhaust gas, and cable are

to be provided.

6. MACHINERY PIPING SYSTEM

6.1 General

The major piping systems in the machinery space to be arranged according to

the following specifications.

These descriptions are conceptual and details will follow with drawings at

drawing approval stage.

The details of the major systems to be in accordance with the builder’s

practice subject to the Owner’s approval.

Piping systems not mentioned in this section to be in accordance with the

Builder’s standard or practice.

6.2 Fuel oil system

Fuel oil system shall be provided for auxiliary engines according to the

relevant manufacturer's standards.

F.O. service tank shall be fitted with a drain valve of self‐ closing type.

Below the valve on the tanks, oil coaming shall be arranged. Drain from oil

coaming shall be led to drain tank.

Sludge pump shall take suction from F.O & L.O Drain tank, and discharge to

shore connections on the upper deck.

6.3 Lub. oil system

Lub. oil system shall be provided for generator engines according to the

relevant manufacturer's standards.

The lub. oil service system shall be used the lub. oil service tank in the

machinery room when changing of the sump oil.

Lub. oil drain from the base for equipment shall be led to F.O. & L.O drain

tank in pump room.

Each aux. diesel engines shall have its own lub. oil system consisting of

engine driven lub.oil pump, built‐in lub. oil cooler, built‐in thermostatic

valve of wax expansion type and an electric driven priming pump according to

the aux. engine manufacturer's standards.

6.4 Compressed air system

Air compressor shall be driven by electric motors. The construction, materials

and accessories of air compressor, and air reservoir shall be in accordance

with the manufacturer's standards. A shut‐off valve shall be provided in the

machinery space.

Hose connection valves shall be fitted for general service.

6.5 Fire system

The fire main served by the G/S & Fire pump and Bilge & Ballast pump to be

installed and connected to the fire main.

These pumps shall be used a functional exchange between the G/S & Fire pump

and Bilge & Ballast pump.

International shore connection flanges to be supplied.

6.6 Bilge system

The pump room space bilge system to be served by the G/S & Fire pump and Bilge

& Ballast pump.

Bilge suction line with a mud box and a stop check valve to be connected bilge

pumps.

Oily bilge to be led the F.O & L.O drain tank.

A overboard discharging shore connection from the F.O & L.O drain tank to be

provided.

6.7 Exhaust gas system

Exhaust gas pipes shall be made of steel or welded steel pipe, and fitted with

bellows type expansion joint of stainless steel.

Exhaust gas pipes in machinery space shall be led to out side through silencer.

Exhaust pipe to be insulated with rock wool of 25mm thick covered fiber glass

cloth sheet with galvanize sheet.

6.8 Fresh water system

The fresh water shall be provided for domestic use and sanitary water system.

Fresh water to be supplied from fresh water hydrophore tank and led to sink,

wash basins, bath rooms, water closets, laundry, galley, fresh water

calorifier.

7. HULL PIPING

7.1 General

Materials of all pipes, all valves, flanges and etc. to be generally in

accordance with Korean Industrial Standard (KS) or equivalent.

Piping not specially stated herein to be of steel pipe hot‐galvanized. Suitable expansion joint on bends or approved type to be provided where

necessary for easy inspection and repairing.

Wherever pipes pass through watertight bulkheads and decks, the penetration

piece with heavier thickness than main line are to be sleeve or spool piece

type in principle.

Deck wash line on upper deck to be arranged.

7.2 Ballast piping

Ballast lines to be led direct to each ballast tank. Pipe line shall be

used for water suction and delivery.

Ballast valves to be of butterfly valves in general.

A suction bell-mouth shall be provided in each water ballast tank.

Doubling plate shall be provided under the each suction bell-mouth.

The mimic diagram of ballast systems, valve controllers and position

indicators for remotely controlled valves shall be fitted on the ballast

control console in the ballast control room.

Valve actuators shall be of electro-hydraulic type and to be mounted

directly on the valve.

7.3 Air vent pipes

Air vent to each ballast and void tank, etc., to be arranged as per rule

requirement.

Air vent heads to be fitted with gooseneck or ball float type and bolted to

7.4 Sea water piping

Fire hydrant pipe line to be of common use of wash and led on upper deck

from G/S, fire & bilge pump.

Fire hose valves to be of thread type and fire hoses to be of synthetic

fibers.

International shore connection and flange shall be provided.

7.5 Bilge system

The void space and store space bilge system to be served by the fire and

bilge pump according to Class rule.

The pumps to take suction from the bilge main and to take discharged

overboard directly.

A strainer shall be fitted in the suction line of each pump for bilge

service.

7.6 Fire fighting system

The fire main shall be served by the G/S, Fire & Bilge pump.

Drain valve s to be fitted on deck hydrant at lowest positions.

7.7 Bilge, scuppers and drains

1) Bilge suction :

Bilge water in void space to be pumped out by Bilge & Ballast pump or the

portable bilge pump without fixed bilge pipes subject to approved

Classification Society.

Drain line shall be provided where necessary space.

2) Deck scuppers to be provided as per rule.

3) Shore connection system for machinery space.

4) Bilge and sewage water to be provided on both side of Barge.

7.8 Sounding pipes

Each one(1) unit of sounding pipe to be fitted to each water ballast tank,

void tank and etc.

Sounding pipes to have brass heads and striking plate to be welded below

the pipes for protecting of tank bottom.

Sounding pipes to be carried down as straight and close to side shall be

plate as possible.

7.9 Sanitary pipe

Sanitary water for toilet shall be supplied from F.W. Hydrophore unit.

7.10 Filling lines

The separate filling line for F.O, L.O. and F.W. shall be provided on upper

deck.

Oil coamings with plug shall be provided to oil filling line.

8. MACHINERY EQUIPMENTS

8.1 Floor, ladder and grating.

The pump room space flooring and operating platform with handrails shall be

of 4.5mm checkered steel plate, supported on suitable frames. Ladders to be

fitted as required for access to the grating level and isolated items of

equipment. They have steel flat bar stringers and non‐slip treads.

8.2 Lifting gear

Chain blocks with lifting hooks and eyes to be provided for overhauling of

machineries of generator, pumps, store. etc in suitable place .

8.3 Name plate and paint mark

Name plate for the machinery shall be engraved in English.

Engraved name plate and caution plate in English, arrow indicator to be

fitted to valve as necessary.

Material to be of brass or corrosion resistant material.

Marks to identify sea water, fresh water, bilge, lub. oil and fuel oil, etc

to be distinguished by colored marks.

9. INVENTORY AND SPARE PARTS

Inventories and spare parts shall be supplied according to rules, maker

standards and Builder’s practice.

3. CABLE INSTALLATION

3.1 Electric cable

All cables to be approved by Classification Society and the cable

application to be as follows :

In general, cables in all spaces, except otherwise specified be of EP

rubber insulated polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheathed.

PYCY cables to be used at exposed deck.

For portable appliances such as portable hand lamps, cables to be of

of flexible vinyl cord.

Kind, size, etc. of cables supplied by makers together with electric equipment to

be in accordance with makers standard.

3.2 Cable installation

In general, cables run in groups to be supported in galvanized steel

hangers and steel bands as far as practicable.

Where exposed to risk of mechanical damage, cables to be protected by

steel plate or metal conduct.

Cables installed on mast to be run on steel hanger.

All cables passing through exposed decks or watertight bulkheads to be

provided with watertight glands, steel penetration with sealing compound

or deck tubes.

In general, the cable clips to be formed of galvanized steel strip and

stainless steel strip for location exposed to weather and in special case.

4. MAIN SWITCHBOARD AND PANELS

One (1) switchboard for receiving of main power and distribution of 380V

A.C power to be provided and installed in the machinery space.

Main switchboard to be of self‐supporting structural steel frame construction and to include sheet steel covers for the top and protective sheet steel covers for

the both ends.

Main switchboard to be of the dead front type and have hinged front panels.

The main switchboard to be consisted of power receiving panels, starter panels,

feeder panel.

The following instruments shall be installed on the switchboard.

Two(2) set of 60KVA, AC 380V/220V, three phase, air cooled, dry type

transformer to be provided for normal AC 220V consumers.

Two(2) set of 30KVA, AC 380V/220V, three phase, air cooled, dry type

transformer to be provided for harbor AC 220V consumers.

6. MOTORS AND STARTERS

6.1 Motors

All motors, unless otherwise noted, to be of totally, drip proof construction,

self ventilated squirrel cage, motor induction type.

In general, they are designed to operate on 380 volts, 3 phase, 50 Hz, A.C and to

have proper speed and power.

The bearings for motors to be of sealed ball bearing type and/or conventional ball

bearing type with grease nipple, and those for motors of fractional power(0.4Kw or

less) and for domestic service to be in accordance with manufacture's standard.

6.2 Starters

In general, the starters to be of drip proof type and the cabinet to

be arranged for bulkhead and/or floor mounting type.

The starters to have under voltage protection.

The power circuits in starters to be of 380V A.C.

The over current protection to be provided in two (2) phase and manual

reset finger in controller.

Staring method of all motors to be designed with electric magnetic

direct on line system except for large than 20Kw and over with which

are star‐delta starting system and auto transformer starting.

Generally, each starter to contain the following device :

Disconnection switch or molded case circuit breaker

Pilot lamp for source

Magnetic contactor

Overload relay of thermal trip type

Start and stop push button switch

Running indicating lamp

However, starters for motors less than 0.4Kw to contain switches only.

6.3 Emergency stop

In order to prevent the spread of fire, emergency stop switch shall be

provided on outside of machinery space and control room.

7. LIGHTING

7.1 General

Lighting fixtures and accessories for machinery spaces to be drip roof or

water proof and weather spaces to be water proof.

Lighting system on the vessel to be divided into the following two

groups :

(a) General lighting system 220V A.C

(b) Emergency lighting system 24 V D.C

The general lighting system to be supplied from the main power supply and

to furnish illumination under normal conditions.

The emergency lighting system to be automatically energized by 24V

D.C emergency power source on failure of ship main power system.

7.3 Portable lights
