What does a JA volunteer do? Community volunteers go into the classroom and teach students about managing money, thinking entrepreneurially, and preparing for the workforce using the provided JA Program Kit. Volunteers dedicate 30-45 minutes per lesson to teaching children about these concepts through hands-on, interactive lessons, games, and reading materials. Will I be trained? Yes! All JA volunteers must complete a training session with a JA staff member. These training sessions typically last less than an hour. What kind of time commitment is this? Elementary School Volunteers: Five Lessons | One Lesson/Week | 30 Minutes/Lesson Middle School Volunteers: Six Lessons | One Lesson/Week | 45 Minutes/Lesson High School Volunteers: Seven Lessons | One Lesson/Week | 45 - 60 Minutes/Lesson JA Finance Park Volunteers: Three Lessons | One Visit | 90 Minutes JA Company Program: 13 Lessons | One Lesson/Week | 90 Minutes - 2 Hours/Lesson School Partnerships: Junior Achievement has partnered with 60+ Elementary, Middle, and High Schools throughout Hampton Roads.
