Series: Dukes vs. Tribe LAST TIME OUT Junior Ashley Gippe tallied her first collegiate hat trick to lead No. 15 James Madison field hockey to a 7-2 victory at Towson (1-16, 0-6 CAA) in both teams’ regular-season finale. Gippe’s career-best three goals led five Dukes who scored on Sunday afternoon. JMU outshot Towson 25-5, including 20-4 advantage on goal. The Dukes also earned eight corners, seven in the second half, compared to the Tigers’ three, which all came in the first half. JMU junior Ashley Gippe tallied her first collegiate hat trick, surpassing her previous best of two goals in a game, which she had done twice in her career. Redshirt sophomore Megan Guzzardi scored her first collegiate goal. Junior Lindsay Gippe earned the first assist of her collegiate career when she dished it to her sister. She also had her first start of the 2017 cam- paign. Junior Casey O’Donnell earned the first assist of her collegiate career when she found Miranda Rigg for the first-half tally. TRAILING AT THE HALF Last Friday’s 2-1 comeback victory at No. 19 William & Mary marked the second time this season the Dukes were able to secure a victory after trailing at the half (2-3). The ⠀唀嘀圀圀䰀倀 came against then-No. 23 Old Dominion in a shootout on Aug. 30. STRETCHING IT OUT Sophomore Lisa Lejeune has scored in each of the last five games, reaching the season-high streak that senior Melanie Kusakavitch set through games 11-15. No Duke had reached a five- game streak since Loes Stinjtjes opened the 2014 season scoring in five consecutive games. GETTING RIGG-Y WITH IT Through 17 games, junior Miranda Rigg leads the Dukes with 29 points, including a team-high 12 goals. She scored the 36th goal of her career on Sunday at Towson, moving her into a three- way tie for 14th all-time in JMU history (Tara Nappi – ’98, Mona Ryabik – ’87). Her ascent to the top-15 was done in 57 games, fewer than both Nappi (77) and Ryabik (74). She needs five goals to move into the top 10. HALLS HELPERS Senior Hannah Hall has 10 assists this season, a career best, and her 0.71 apg is 14th nation- ally. She has pushed her career total to 25, which ranks 13th in JMU history, and needs three more dishes to crack the JMU all-time top-10 for assists. CONSTANT IN THE CAGE Senior Sara Kraeutler appeared in her 59th game, earning her 38th career victory. She has seen 3,764 minutes in the cage for JU, ranking fifth in program history. She needs just five more minutes in between the pipes to move into fourth all-time.
