Project Summary

GSA submitted preliminary and final building plans for T-Mobile and AT&T antenna installations on the Department of Energy Headquarters building, the Forrestal Building, located at 1000 Independence Ave SW Washington, DC. The deployment of upgraded equipment to the existing AT&T telecommunications site located at 1000 Independence Ave SW Washington, DC 20585 on the GSA Dept of Energy rooftop is imperative in order for the National Public Safety Broadband Network (FirstNet) to support National/Homeland Security needs for the 2021 Presidential Inauguration, future events on the National Mall, and increases in capacity/usage due to unforeseen circumstances such as the current COVID-19 pandemic. T-Mobile is requesting approval of equipment upgrades at the Department of Energy Building. The purpose of this upgrade is to increase user capacity and maintain acceptable wireless calling and data signals. T-Mobile is using new technologies necessary for day-to-day usage and special events on the National Mall.

AT&T submission consists of three sectors which house a total of twelve antennas. AT&T proposes to replace six of the twelve total existing panel antennas with six new panel antennas. The T-Mobile submission includes the replacement of seven (7) existing antennas and thirteen (13) radios with sixteen (16) new antennas and fifteen (15) radios. There are 4 sectors in the T-Mobile proposal. One of the T-Mobile antenna is a spherical antenna.
