OSHA #510 OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry30 Hours | $595 Contract | $8,000This course covers the OSHA Standards, policies, and procedures in the construction industry. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA Construction Standards, construction safety and health principles, with special emphasis on the most hazardous areas in construction. Upon course completion, participants will be able to define construction terms found in the OSHA Construction Standards; identify hazards in the construction industry; locate and determine the appropriate OSHA Construction Standards, policies, and procedures; and describe the use of the OSHA Construction Standards and Regulations to supplement an ongoing workplace safety and health program.

This course satisfies the training prerequisite for the Authorized Trainer Program designation in Personal Protective Equipment.

CONSTRUCTION OSHA COURSES

OSHA #500Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction30 Hours | $695 Contract | $9,000This course prepares the participants to become a trainer in the OSHA Outreach Training Program, conduct both the 10- and 30-hour Construction Outreach classes and issue OSHA Outreach Cards to participants after verifying course completion. Using the OSHA Construction Standards as a guide, the course emphasizes those topics required in the 10- and 30-hour programs, as well as those which are most hazardous. Participants receive training on effective instructional approaches and the use of visual aids and handouts. Participants must prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA Construction Outreach Training Program topic and pass a written exam.

Prerequisites: Participants must have successfully completed the OSHA #510 OSHA Standards for Construction within the past seven (7) years and have five (5) years of safety and health work experience in the construction industry.

Refresher Training: Authorized OSHA Outreach Training Program trainers are required to attend the OSHA #502 Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers at least once every four (4) years to maintain their trainer status.

OSHA #511 OSHA Standards for General Industry30 Hours | $595 Contract | $8,000This course covers the OSHA Standards, policies, and procedures in general industry. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA General Industry Standards and general industry principles, with special emphasis on the most hazardous areas in general industry. Upon course completion, participants will be able to define general industry terms found in the OSHA General Industry Standards; identify hazards in general industry; locate and determine appropriate OSHA General Industry Standards, policies, and procedures; and describe the use of OSHA General Industry Standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing workplace safety and health program.

This course satisfies the training prerequisite for the Authorized Trainer Program designation in Personal Protective Equipment.

OSHA #501 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for General Industry30 Hours | $695 Contract | $9,000This course prepares the participant to become a trainer in the OSHA Outreach Training Program, to conduct both the 10- and 30-hour General Industry Outreach classes and issue OSHA Outreach Cards to participants after verifying course completion. Using the OSHA General Industry Standards as a guide, this course emphasizes those topics required in the 10- and 30-hour programs, as well as those which are most hazardous. Participants receive training on effective instructional approaches and the use of visual aids and handouts. Participants must prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA General Industry Outreach Training Program topic and pass a written exam at the end of the course.

Prerequisites: Participants must have successfully completed the OSHA #511 OSHA Standards for General Industry within the past seven (7) years and have five (5) years of safety and health work experience in general industry. The United States Department of Labor OSHA Outreach Training Program provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. The program also provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. This is a voluntary program and does not meet training requirements for any OSHA standards.

The Outreach Training Portal is a web-based application designed with our trainers in mind to provide a more efficient and reliable method of requesting Outreach participant cards.

OUTREACH TRAINING

UTA AUTHORIZED TRAINER PROGRAMATP 191 Safety and Health Authorized Trainer32 Hours | $695 Contract | $9,000 This course incorporates an overview of instructional strategies, design, and practices for adult learning settings. It explores situational and cultural factors that influence adult learning and reviews the requirements of ANSI Z490.1, Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health, and Environmental Training on how to create, maintain, and evaluate effective EH&S training. Various instructional approaches, classroom management techniques, and the effective use of visual aids and handouts will be covered. Participants will develop informational presentations based upon the technical instruction and individual research requirements. Instruction and hands-on exercises on specific safety and health topics will be provided. The course includes “teach back” sessions to apply the adult learning techniques and effective safety and health training knowledge and skills. Participants will work in small groups, or independently, to develop the technical information for their presentation on one of the listed topic areas. Successful completion of the course and written and performance examinations will allow the participant to be recognized as an UTA Authorized Trainer.

Refresher Training: UTA Authorized Trainers are required to attend the ATP 190O Online Update for Safety and Health Authorized Trainers at least once every three (3) years to maintain their trainer status.

Prerequisites: Participants must have three (3) years of safety and health work experience in any industry, or be a current authorized Outreach trainer.

They incorporate specific ANSI standards, US Army Corps of Engineer EM 385-1-1 requirements, and other consensus standards in addition to the OSHA requirements. They include active participation, with hands-on activities and demonstrations. These courses are also recommended for any construction, maintenance, or supervisory personnel with specific responsibilities in the covered activities.*

CPT 101 Fall Protection for the Competent Person24 Hours | $595 Contract | $8,000This course is designed for typical construction-related activities involving working at height or personnel who use fall prevention and/or protection equipment and systems or who is responsible for safety at their job sites where fall hazards exist. The topics covered include fall hazard recognition, evaluation, and control; construction exposures and applications; detailed review of fall protection regulations and requirements; hierarchy of fall protection systems; fall hazard evaluation; aerial lifts and ladders; developing and maintaining a managed fall protection program; fall protection procedures, rescue procedures, training; and incident investigations.

The topics covered include routes of silica exposure; health effects of silica overexposure; exposure levels and tasks associated with acute and chronic silicosis; occupational exposure level and how exposures are measured; current regulations and best practices; determination of presence of silica through bulk sample analysis; material safety data sheets and material checklists; and controls to reduce silica exposures.

CANCELLATIONSThe University of Texas at Arlington reserves the right to change or cancel any class. In the event that a class must be changed or canceled, you will be notified by email and/or phone. You are required to provide a valid email address and phone number to ensure notification. Cancellations due to insufficient enrollment will be made approximately one (1) to two (2) business days prior to the class start date.

If a course is canceled by UTA, participants have the option to transfer to another course, hold their funds in escrow, or receive a refund. No fees will be charged for these transactions if UTA cancels a class.

PARTICIPANT WITHDRAWAL AND TRANSFER POLICYIf a participant withdraws from a class more than two (2) full business days prior to class, they may transfer to another class at no charge; hold fees in escrow up to one year at no charge; or refund their course fee less a $35 processing charge for fees less than $1,000, or 5% of fees over $1,000.

If a participant withdraws from a class later than two (2) business days prior to the class start date, the fees are non-refundable. They may transfer to another class at no charge or hold the fees in escrow at no charge.

All withdrawal requests must be received via telephone, Monday-Friday during normal business hours.

OSHA #500Curso de Entrenamiento en Normas de OSHA para la Industria de la Construcción30 Horas | $695 Contrato | $9,000Este curso prepara a los participantes para ser entrenadores para el Programa de Formación y Acercamiento Instructivo (Outreach Training Program en inglés) de OSHA, que se ofrece en clases de 10 y 30 horas, permitiéndoles distribuir Tarjetas del Programa de Acercamiento y Entrenamiento de OSHA a aquellos participantes que hayan completado el curso bajo verificación. Usando las Normas de Construcción de OSHA como guía, el curso enfatiza las materias que exigen los programas de 10 y 30 horas de clase, además de aquellas condiciones que puedan ser muy peligrosas. Los participantes reciben entrenamiento bajo un método práctico e instructivo, usando además materiales visuales y volantes informativos. Los participantes tienen que preparar una presentación sobre un tema asignado referente al Programa de Entrenamiento de Formación y Acercamiento de OSHA (llamado también de Alcance o Extensión), además de pasar un examen escrito al final del curso.

Explora los factores situacionales y culturales que influyen en el aprendizaje de adultos y revisa los requisitos de ANSI Z490.1, Criterios para Prácticas Aceptadas de Capacitación en Seguridad, Salud y Ambiental sobre cómo crear, mantener y evaluar la capacitación eficaz de EH&S. Se cubrirán diversos enfoques de instrucción, técnicas de gestión del aula y el uso efectivo de ayudas visuales y folletos. Los participantes desarrollarán presentaciones informativas basadas en la instrucción técnica y los requisitos de investigación individuales. Se brindará instrucción y ejercicios prácticos sobre temas específicos de seguridad y salud. El curso incluye sesiones de “enseñanza” para aplicar las técnicas de aprendizaje de adultos y el conocimiento y las habilidades eficaces de capacitación en seguridad y salud. Los participantes trabajarán en grupos pequeños o de forma independiente para desarrollar la información técnica para su presentación en una de las áreas temáticas enumeradas. Los temas del curso incluyen sistemas de una y tres fases, cable-y-enchufe-conectados y equipo de conexión fija, conexión terrestre, interruptores (GFCI) con mecanismo de fallo en circuitos de tomacorrientes con descarga a tierra, así como también prácticas de trabajo relacionadas con la seguridad en el desempeño laboral.
