About SDSU: SDSU is ranked among the nation's best universities according to U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges 2013 Guide." San Diego State University is the oldest and largest higher education institution in the San Diego region. Since it was founded in 1897, the university has grown to become a nationally ranked research university. Each year, SDSU provides more than 35,000 students with the opportunity to participate in an academic curriculum distinguished by direct contact with faculty and an increasing international emphasis, preparing them for a global future.

For multiple years, SDSU has been ranked the No. 1 most productive research university in America, among schools with 14 or fewer Ph.D. programs based on the Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index — Academic Analytics

Lodging at the Vantaggio Suites Wonderful location! In the heart of Little Italy, one of San Diego’s most lively and fun districts. Many places to eat, both American and Italian, and a large farmer’s market is held each Saturday near the Harborview Inn. It is also a short walk to the beautiful San Diego Bay and lively Downtown with endless entertainment options including shopping, nightclubs, pubs, movie theaters, music venues, and restaurants. The San Diego Trolley also stops near the Vantaggio which will connect you to the University and many other areas of San Diego.

Breakfast and lunch buffet at The University Dining Room This dining facility is the largest on campus and offers an abundant variety of fresh foods in a friendly, relaxed, and comfortable environment. Enjoy a large menu of delicious items from all around the world. Also a wide range of serving stations hosted by talented chefs who will prepare your food exactly to your order. If you like to eat, this is the perfect place as there is no limit to how much you can eat or drink!

San Diego Transit System Pass (Trolley and Bus)

The San Diego Trolley, which has a station directly on the SDSU campus, enables students to navigate San Diego without the worry of needing a car. Via the trolley, students are just a short ride away from shopping centers, the Gaslamp Quarter downtown with lots of entertainment options, and the Mexican border. The Trolley is very popular with students and staff who commute to the university because of heavy traffic and the high cost and low availability of parking around campus.

Program Field trips: USS Midway and Maritime Museum The USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum is a warship with over 60 exhibits and 25 restored aircraft. The Midway also has an amazing view of downtown San Diego and the Bay from the flight deck. The Maritime Museum includes the Star of India, the oldest operating sailing ship in the world, the HMS Surprise from the movie “Master and Commander”, a Russian submarine, and other fascinating historic ships.

Cabrillo National Monument and Tide Pools

The Cabrillo Monument commemorates the landing site of Juan Cabrillo, the first European explorer to land in California in 1542. The monument sits high atop Point Loma and offers some of the most spectacular views of San Diego and the coastline. Whales can often be seen migrating up the coast from this perfect viewpoint. The area also offers beautiful hiking trails along the cliffs and many natural tide pools.

Sea World Engineering Tour: February 6 Sea World San Diego is one of the largest marine parks in the world. It hosts killer whales, beluga whales, dolphins, walruses, penguins, polar bears, and other marine life. This special tour will take you behind the scenes to see water purification and circulation, cooling and heating systems, communications, and other engineering operations. You’ll also get special access to see animals up close.
