At the Wedding at Cana, Jesus reveals God’s glory by
changing water into wine. Understand this story as an
image for our world. Whether we know it or not, we are
all at a wedding banquet. The prophets and Jesus him-
self frequently describe the kingdom of God as a wedding
celebration; a celebration of God’s abundance and good-
ness, and of God’s love for us
In the story, everyone certainly knows that they are at a
wedding feast. But they are unaware there is a crisis;
the wine is running out. Mary knows this and immedi-
ately approaches Jesus. She models the way of a disci-
ple. Our baptism and God’s revelation make us privy to
how things are really going at the feast. When we sense
something wrong, we are encouraged to take this imme-
diately to God, pray about it, surrender it to God, before
anything, just as Mary did. She did not rush to correct or
make it public. But went to the one who could do some-
thing and left the problem with Jesus.
Only the servants knew what happened. The host knew
something has happened but gets it all wrong. We Chris-
tians also know how God has made this world so rich and
wonderful. Christ is present among us. It is up to us to
share with everyone else the secret of this great marriage
feast. The wine, this life, is wonderful and abundant be-
cause of Jesus’ presence. How has he transformed your
life? Can we share with one another the secret of what is
happening in our midst? Martin L King Jr. reminds us to
be welcoming to all irrespective of their race or color so
that together we can all enjoy the riches of God’s crea-
tion.

Wedding Feast at Cana
This is the exchange between Mary and Jesus (John 2):
When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him,
“They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her,
“Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come.”
His mother said to the servers, “Do whatever he tells you.”
"No tienen vino". Y Jesús le dijo:
“Mujer, ¿cómo me afecta tu preocupación? Todavía no ha llegado mi hora. Su madre dijo a los servidores:
"Haz lo que te diga".
