Starts its 20th year on Battleground

In 2016 The Bed Gallery will celebrate its 20th year at their Battleground Avenue location in Greensboro. Pull Up A Chair, Grab a Beer, and Enjoy the Games and Tunes at Cooper’s Ale House

Great casual dining is right around the corner in the Triad. Located on Market Street in Greensboro, Cooper’s Ale House is both a great atmosphere to eat and enjoy local entertainment. With live music and all the games for the avid sports fan, Cooper’s has something for everyone.The ale house has been open year round for 12 years, attracting quite a following throughout Greensboro. A lot of folks stop by for an evening out, and find that the booth seating is comfortable for casual conversation and catching up over a few drinks. Others enjoy the 40 HDTVs through the pub on game night — particularly for Panthers games.The pub features live music throughout each week, including local bands on Friday and Saturday nights (10:30pm to 2am). If you and your friends are looking for a fun karaoke experience, stop by Tuesday and Sunday nights at 10pm to show off your singing voice. Your friends can cheer you on from the pool tables while they work up the courage to follow your lead.For some smooth melodies to break up your week, visitors can enjoy Blues Jam on Wednesday evenings at 9pm. The music goes till 1am, giving you plenty of time to catch up with friends or do something fun with coworkers mid-week.

But what about the drinks?They don’t call it an ale house for nothing. Cooper’s features over 300 varieties of bottled beer, 24 of them on tap. No matter what kind of brew you fancy, they probably have it. And to mix it up Cooper’s offers daily drink specials, so there’s a good reason to stop by whenever it strikes you.

Cooper’s works closely with the Wounded Warriors project through the Marine Corps League, which meets at the pub once a month. The Marine Corps League, nicknamed “The Fighting 260”, has members who have served in every conflict the Marines have been involved in since WWII. Cooper’s Ale House is proud to have them as guests, and their involvement with the Wounded Warrior project is a way to give back to heroes everywhere.

Washington’s Porter from Alewerks Brewing: Williamsburg, VA

From Spencer: “Williamsburg AleWerks is located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Chuck Haines opened up this brewery in 2006 with the vision of bringing fine craft beer to back Williamsburg. These guys make a wide range of beers from IPA to Pumpkin to Milk Stouts. The beer that I’m sampling right now is called the Washington Porter. This is an English style porter being rich and malty with a nice chocolate backbone that finishes with a slight roasted malt flavor. This is a perfect winter beer that is not too heavy but with just the right amount of roasted malt flavor. Washington would be proud!”

From Tim: “We tasted this on The Less Desirables recently and the roasted barley, caramel and chocolate flavors really popped against the roasted malt. It’s a good thickness, not too much, and just rich enough. It’s easy to drink and easy to drink a couple in one sitting. The 6.5% ABV provides good drinkability while not knocking you over because you should be a responsible drinker. It’s a fantastic brew to have in the winter months, but, I don’t discriminate my beer to seasons. Therefore, since porters are my favorite beer style, it’s a great year-round beer to me. Slàinte!”
