Career, Transfer and Advising Services News SLCC Internship Program Career, transfer and advising services is now offering students the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge and work experience in their field of study through the SLCC Internship Program. This program will allow students the chance to apply the knowledge they gained in the classroom to the real world and gain valuable industry experience before they graduate. An internship will bridge the gap between the educational and professional worlds, making it easier to transition from academic life into a career. There were over 1,000 students, alumni and community members in attendance at the fairs with 70 different companies looking to hire qualified job candidates and 17 schools looking to recruit new students. If you will be graduating soon, be sure to attend one of our upcoming fairs this semester to begin networking with employers in your industry and to find out what different schools have to offer you! Career, transfer and advising services is now offering students

What are your duties? Designing business cards, posters, letterheads,

and taking care of company’s website and social

media.

How has your internship prepared you for a career? Working with real clients and coworkers who

have different styles has helped me test my

abilities in a real working environment.

Would you recommend other students to do an internship? It was a great experience for me and I recommend it to anyone who wants to gain

experience and learn.

1. Research the companies attending.

2. Practice your introductory speech.

3. Bring multiple copies of your resume.

4. Dress professionally!

5. After introducing yourself, ask

questions. Remember to smile and

appear interested.

6. Follow up with the employer after the

fair by sending an email or thank you

card.
