Students weren’t bothered much that they only had 17 days to carry out all the activities for the month of January since these days were packed with so much curricular and co-curricular activities.

We had an awesome Chinese New Year cele-bration for our class pictures were taken in this festivity. It was exciting to have our class photo wearing beautiful ’Cheongsam’ or Chinese costumes. Our celebration started at the school grounds where teachers, staff and students alike watched the Barongsai performance. We admired the great moves of the performers and the stu-dents were excited to give their ‘hong bao’ or red envel-ops. After which, they were gathered in the auditorium for the Mandarin Quiz Bee and a Program which we all witnessed the performance of each class. We were proud to see that two of our Grade 3 students who could speak Mandarin fluently were chosen to be the emcees: Matthew and Gracia. Even though they didn't have much time for practice, the Grade 3 class performed with much effort and executed their number well. Another ex-traordinary performance was shown by one of our stu-dents, Audrey together with Michelle, a Grade 5 stu-dent. We all watched in amazement as they demon-strated their ’Wushu’ moves.

We had different kinds and electrifying Spelling and Quiz bees namely: Mandarin Spelling Bee, English Spelling Bee and Math Quiz Bee.

In Mandarin Spelling Bee, five (5) contestants joined but only 3 students were chosen to vie for the awards. The winners were 1st - Dhira; 2nd - Steven; and 3rd - Vincent.

This school year, Spelling Bee (English) followed a different set of rules and mechanics as the previous years’. The contestants were not asked to write the words instead they would spell out orally the words picked at random. Out of five contestants, only three of them made it to the top: 1st - Vincent; 2nd - Dhira; and 3rd - Ethan.

The Math Quiz Bee was far more exciting. Par-ticipants eagerly provided solutions to the problems given. The following students topped the Quiz: 1st - Dhira; 2nd - Ethan; and 3rd - Vincent.

The students were excited to cheer for their classmates who qualified for each category.

For this month of February, we will get them to focus more on their lessons as we are preparing them for the forthcoming Midterm examination.
