    A clearer understanding of the subsurface and factorscontrolling production for a specific play is an ongoing issue,particularly in fractured reservoirs. In shale plays, for example,production can vary across plays and even between wellsdrilled from the same pad. Yet, frac design and analysis iscurrently applied in only a very small percentage of hydraulicfracturing projects, largely due to the length of time requiredto gather input data for fracture simulation models.

PowerLog Frac consists of a fit-for-purpose version of PowerLog bundled withthe new FracRat module that CGG developedin partnership with Baker Hughes PressurePumping Division.

    FracRat takes petrophysical curve data fromPowerLog and uses empirical and deterministicalgorithms to generate formatted rock andfluid properties required by fracturesimulation software.

    Clients who already use PowerLog may purchaseFracRat as an add-on module to their existingPowerLog software.

    Powerful integrated workflow

    FracRat converts the petrophysical analysis to rock and fluid propertiesrequired for frac simulation. An intuitive interface allows the user to defineintervals for computing zone average values before or after running theFracRat module depending on the needs of the user (average petrophysicalvalues or average rock/fluid properties values). FracRat features include:

    Tuning parameters to simulation inputs with stimulation test data
