The architecture goes through a process of shifting solid spaces and voids to create a sense of juxtapostion, a contradiction between the absence of solids and the presence of nothingness. As a result, a void sequence in the architecture is present.; aspects of emergence and contraction can be experienced. The site, located on the very edge of Chinatown between 16 Hudson Street and Sur-face Road, displays various interesting interactions between the buildings and the streets. One of the distinct themes of the project derived from the site is that of the interconnec-tion between voids and solid spaces. This project focuses and experiments with how voids are de!ned through the articulation of solid spaces. Solid spaces can de!ne voids as con-densed and de!ned or expanded and di"used. The architecture goes through a process of shifting solid spaces and voids to create a sense of juxtapostion, a contradiction between the absence of solids and the presence of nothingness. As a result, a void sequence in the architecture is present.; aspects of emergence and contraction can be experienced. More-over, the project also aims to juxtapose hard and soft edges as a means to de!ne urban boundaries. The west elevation of the architecture aims to create an edge within the exist-ing urban fabric whereas the east elevation acts as a non-object building that attempts to integrate with the organic #ow of Surface Road.
