The spiral of Hong Kong is “Justice”

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”

During the approximate 100-day period from April 7 to mid July 1994, an estimated 500,000 –1,000,000 Rwandans were killed in the Rwandan Genocide, constituting as much as 20% of the country's total population and 70% of the Tutsi then living in Rwanda.

Frederick Kazibwemo, who was one of the killers of the Rwandan Genocide, was 25 years old when he killed nine neighbours during Rwanda’s genocide in 1994. “The mayor told us we had to kill the Tutsi”, he said and “we understood it to be the law because it was coming from the government…”

“It was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness. It was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity.”

After 20 years, the noisiest arguments covering our life are in the year of 2014. “Israeli–Palestinian conflict”, “ISIS”, “Ukraine crisis”, “Taiwan Sunflower student movement”, ”the discussion of Hong Kong’s political reform”, etc. — these arguments are from different parties but they seemingly play the same role in similar situations. As an active citizen, it is time to rethink our situation. As an impact leader, it is time to build up our independent thinking and not being affected by the injustice of power.

The injustice of power is caused by globalization. From my observation, the globalization is the process through which economies of most countries around the world become increasingly integrated over time. The globalization is termed for economy but not for politics. The political sovereignty in some cases is still under strict national or regional regime. If the regional political sovereignty only focuses on the power itself, it is short-sighted and far from charitable.

Hong Kong is a part of China, and is never a political sovereignty but it is also an international city, running between these global uncharitable powers. Self-reliance is the way for Hong-Kongers’ survival — it is the “Spirit of Hong Kong.”

In 2014, the spir it of Hong Kong is wrapped in fog and mist .When the magazine “Economist” has shown Hong Kong in the top one of the list on the crony capitalism, it means there is the good soil for striving and sustaining economic growth. Some believe our economy is totally dependent on the wealth and power of China. As such “to cope with the power’s intent” becomes their gems of wisdom.

“It was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”

The spirit of Hong Kong is not only on self-reliance; but also on persevering the legal system’s right and, most importantly, the compassion in justice. It is the reason why we will never be the killer like Frederick.

It is the reason why we need continuous improvement in the JC movement in Hong Kong. The JC movement can train up the leaders on how to put their compassion in justice onto the society — as an active citizen.

Many questions ran through my mind as I thought about the topic – The Spirit of Hong Kong. Does Hong Kong really have a spirit? If the answer is positive, what is then the Spirit of Hong Kong?

Hong Kong is believed to be a very energetic city that contains a good mixture of western and eastern cultures. In the past, hard working generations gave Hong Kong some very unique characteristics. But are those unique characteristics appreciated by us or will it be cherished by the next generation? What did the colonial past bring us for the good or the bad?

The former Chief Executive Donald Tsang once said, “As long as Hong Kong people rekindle the admirable "get-up-and-go" spirit that has characterized our development and transformation in decades past, Hong Kong will continue to forge ahead toward an even brighter future.” To keep up with that “get-up-and-go” spirit, the young people in our society play an important role.

Under the leadership of President Pong and his Board of Directors, JCI East Kowloon has launched meaningful projects on active citizenship and corporate social responsibilities. In the August Fellowship Gathering, journalist Susanna Cheung, who is the first female war journalist in Hong Kong, shared her experience working on the battlefield. She also shared her view about the Israeli–Palestinian conflict and how active citizens can play a role in promoting the world peace.

Besides conducting training on Social Responsibility, JCI East Kowloon also organized a joint school debate competition -- Corporate Social Responsibility Debate Competition 2014. The competition encouraged the secondary school students to adopt a critical and logical approach to consider issues on corporate responsibility. Coupled with the liberal studies subject, the competition has broadened their exposure and strengthened their knowledge.

The flagship project, Family Harmony 2014 to be held in October will certainly bring the promotion of active citizenship to the next high level. It has been the wish of President Pong and his team to encourage our young people to “Take a Chance; Make Your Change”. And if all of our young people take their chances to make positive changes to our society, I believe Hong Kong Spirit will never fade.

Thank you for inviting me to write a few words on your publication – “Channel”. JCI not only provide a platform allowing our members to create positive changes but also make sustainable impact towards the community by share much more impact and ideas. I would like to give you some facts about some of the Spirit of Hong Kong, from which I think that creativity is very important to everyone in Hong Kong, especially to young people like us.

Creative industries are important economic drivers for Hong Kong. They help to increase the innovative capacity of the economy and can be a powerhouse for future economic growth. Hong Kong has developed a leading edge in key areas of creative industries like film, television, music, design, architecture, comics and animation, games and digital entertainment, etc. According to the latest statistics, Hong Kong has around 36 000 creative industry-related establishments, with more than 192 000 practitioners engaged. The industries create an added value to Hong Kong’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of nearly $90 billion annually, representing around 4.7% of the GD. Some of you may have paid a visit to PMQ in Sheung Wan where you can see how innovative products and services are compelled by our young people who continue to pursue their dreams.

I encourage JCI East Kowloon to have more innovative projects in the near future and I am sure with the leadership of President Pong, more innovative ideas will be put forward by JCI East Kowloon.

Chief Editor’s MessageFirstly It is with great excitement and challenge to be the chief editor of Channel Magazine 2014 Issue 3. I would like to thank the editorial team and advisors for their excellent work and for making this Channel Magazine a success.

Our theme in this issue is “The Spirit of Hong Kong”. “The Spirit of Hong Kong” is about “persistence and adherence to…..” That sense of “upholding”..…which is so lacking in society today, what our past generations have passed us. I dare and encourage each and every one of you fellow JCs, to act upon it. Let “The Spirit of Hong Kong” live on!!!

My heartfelt thanks to guests Susanna Cheung, Albert Ko, Mak Wing Ho & Cheung Chiu for taking their valuable times in sharing their valuable insights with us on this theme.

I would like to wish members lastly a healthy, prosperous and fruitful remaining year. May all your wishes come true!!

Miss Susanna Chui-yung Cheung, a well-known independent journalist reporting international wars, the best demonstration of Hong Kong Spirit – Brave, Tough, Voice Out Injustice.

As a local Hong Konger, she has an international vision and has investigated Israel-Palestinian Conflict for more than 10 years. She has a strong passion to let people know regarding this issue. “I don’t know where my passion comes from. When I see injustice, I just want to voice it out and let people know. People sometimes think it would be dangerous for a female to go to such dangerous places to work; but gender is never my consideration and does not make any difference.”

Susanna further talked to us the reason she started doing this,“in 2002, Pakistan was attacked by Israel, some journalist asked my view. I haven’t been there before, so I wanted to go and see what was happening. At that time, I did not know much about those countries, I just believed that I needed to go there. I only made simple preparation for my trip, and did not think too much on this, otherwise I will hesitate and cannot do the things I want to do.”

Looking back, Susanna believes that she is always lucky and meet helpful people, “Ididn’t take a direct flight toJerusalem,instead, I began my trip in Malaysia toEgypt to understand Muslim Brotherhood first. I never thought that I was such a lucky person to meet a new friend in Egypt, who knew Muslim Brotherhood and arranged a meeting with them for me. Then I went to Sinai Peninsula, the eastern

extension of Egypt, passing the Red Sea to Jordan. On my way to Jordan, I was very lucky to meet two sisters from Norway and

one Pakistani, and they took me to Capital of Jordan, Amman. After that, I went to Israel and then Jerusalem, the capital of Palestine.”

In her trips, since she was an independent journalist, she was not treated as the same as those reporters in other mass media. “My journey was very tough, but it gave me a

chance to understand and experience the life of lower levels in Palestine. It made me tough and not east to give up. No pain, no gain, I was happy that I had a chance to serve the people around me, the society and the world. Serving and contributing yourself would make your life valuable.”

Susanna’s advice – Open Your Arms, Take the Challenge• As a Hong Kong Citizen, you have to understand

the history and current situation of Hong Kong. After that, try to have more international exposure, you will think in different angles and accept the imperfection of yourself and others.

• Do volunteer work, especially those international peace makers, to border your horizon.

• Try backpacking, when you travel alone, you will learn how to respect different cultures and do self-reflection. It is also a good time to know yourself and think what you want to do in your life.



This is an inspiring story of two young men –They have a passion to embrace changes and challenges, they bring their own flavour into Hong Kong. People start to know Mr. Mak Wing-Ho and Mr. Cheung Chiu, after winning $100,000 in funds in a TVB show. There are now more than six 豆花妹撈米線 shops in Hong Kong, and the next one will be coming in Macau. What is the successful story behind?

They knew each other for more than 10 years since secondary school. Both are good friends and good partners. Mr.Mak Wing-Ho further spoke to us about the way how he became a boss, “after graduation in secondary school, I started my career in food and beverage industry. I worked for a Chinese and Western restaurant for 5 years and I felt quite bored during this time working as a chef as the same recipes and processes repeat every day. Every chef had his own style and favor, I wanted to cook and bring the dishes

that I liked to people. So, I wanted to start my own business.”

“When I was a little kid, I tried Yun Nan cuisine. I love that cuisine so I want to bring it to Hong Kong. Wing-Ho and I went to Yun Nan to learn Yun Nan cuisine for more than a month. Our signature dish is noodle with Bean Curd and spicy sauce. We spent another two months to modify this sauce to fit into Hong Kong people’s taste buds. We then invited our friends to be the “laboratory rat” and tried our sauce, and we finally

modified it to become better.” Cheung Chiu said to us, “in Hong Kong, many chain groups dominated

the market. As a small enterprise, we wanted to gain more customers and if we have more customers, our cost would be lower and we could open more shops. 平價的野心 was our slogan and we also had this slogan in our shops.”

“At the beginning, the most difficult part for me was to hire people. With the effect of Minimum Wages, people would consider jobs that were more comfortable. Besides, not many people were willing to develop themselves in the Food and Beverage industry. So, in the beginning we asked our friends to work and help on a temporary basis. After that, they quitted their existing jobs and came to work full time. We had 5 friends working in different shops in Hong Kong. The support of friends was very important. They gave us suggestions and opinions.” Wing-Ho talked to us, “after opening our shops, as bosses, we did our work properly and we also wanted to improve ourselves continuously. We needed to know more about the market and what favors that our customers may like.”

Advice to young people who wants to start up their own business

Cheung Chiu says “young people need to take the junior roles and learn the basics first. They should be open to adapt and try different tasks. Learn things step-by step.”

Mak Wing-Ho opines “challenge yourself c o n t i n u o u s l y a n d i m p r ove yo u r s e l f continuously. Don’t look for something that is stable and secure. If you are interested in certain industry, try to get some years of experience and don’t be too jumpy in-between jobs. After a few years of experience, you can get a better chance to start your own business. Action is more important than words. So, comprehensive business proposal and well planning ahead are needed. “If possible, try to seek advice from more experienced people.”

Albert Ko, a professional engineer specialized in emergency water and sanitation systems, emergency engineering, technologies for humanitarian relief,travelled to over 100 cities in 25 countries, using his professional knowledge to help the people in need.

Albert is an experienced humanitarian relief worker; he served as board members and advisors for major international relief organizations, including Medecins Sans Frontiers’ and Red Cross.He is awarded Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award (2007), Young Engineer of the Year Grand Award (2008), Humanity Award (2008), Outstanding

Volunteer Awards (2008) and Hong Kong Spirit Ambassadors (2010).

To look back, Albert started to think how he would contribute to the community when he was in university, “Youngsters in

Taiwan and Singapore have to commit military service to serve their countries, but we do not have this in Hong

Kong. It seems like Ihave 2 years of spare time, so Iwish to spend it serving the community before I

start my career.”After graduation, he started his volunteer work in Medecins Sans Frontiers’ and

was the first Hong Kong engineer to join its field missions since 2000. He volunteered in South Sudan during the civi l war, Uzbekistan during 911, Indonesia during the South Asia Tsunami, Pakistan during the Kashmir earthquake, and Sichuan during the Wenchuan earthquake.

A l b e r t i s k e e n i n p r o m o t i n g volunteerism and global citizenship to younger generations. He is now serving as Head of Student Development Programme in Hong Kong University, “It is important to let students experience. In the volunteer work outside Hong Kong, students would have a chance to

talk and taken care by local people. They will understand that if they make any

business decisions that are not complied with the professional standards, those

local people will be harmed and seriously affected.”

Albert commented that the students nowadays were very smart, with board horizons, good

language skills, and presentation skills. He had a clear message to students – No matter what faculty they

belong to, they must have the heart to serve the community. “What they learn is for the betterment of the society and

improvement in the living standards of human beings. We do not aim to produce Nobel Prize Winners, instead, we want our graduates to be proud of themselves and care of each other in the society. If we consider our neighbor more, the society will be in harmony and more humane decision will be made.”

Albert further explained, “we must have our own value and judgment, we think based on what we see and what we hear. The media has a huge effect on Hong Kong’s atmosphere, encouraging complain culture. In Hong Kong, people are judged by how much they earn, instead of how much they contribute to the society. Everyone can contribute and there are many ways to do so. More than donations, you would contribute your time, your knowledge to those in need.”

What do you want to do in your life? How do you define your life? These are questions that Albert wants us to think.

SMC Chairman I joined EKJC as an advisor to the CD project of Social services in a Nut Shell in late 1983 when l was acquiring the membership of Institute of Linguists. After attending a few meetings, l found that this organization was worth joining as a volunteer, then I became a PM.

In 1984, l became the secretariat director and in the following year l was elected as the VP in

management. l became the first lady President of the chapter in 1986. When l was IPP, l was selected

to represent HK to join the Japan Youth Voyage. It was one of the most memorable journeys of my life. From there

l learnt the organizational power of the Japanese which helped me to succeed in my career later on.

I was brought up in a very poor family but l worked diligently to be admitted into a famous school. After graduation from Form 7, I joined the government service and also worked as a private tutor after work for many years.

In 1990, l bought my first owned home which earned me some money. However, in 1997, l lost one million as l bought another flat at the peak price. I learnt a big lesson and from 2003 onwards l began to purchase properties. Two years ago, l gradually sold out all my flats except the one that l am living as l was approaching my retirement.

Nevertheless l actively participate in various volunteer work after retirement. I feel that l am obligated to return to the society by providing training to the youth. I am also a tutor for the low income family children in Tin Shui Wai area. The spirit of HK is to work hard and return to the society at large!

1. What is your impression of Hong Kong? Hong Kong is a modern, colorful and fast-

paced city which impresses me a lot such as the modern buildings, great food, buzzing nightlife, various shopping alleys and inspiring attractions.

2. Which type of “Hong Kong Spirit” do you admire and think that is worth learning about?

Hardworking, proactive, flexible, self-improved, etc. -- these are the terms I think best describing Hong Kong people. Most of the people in Hong Kong have long working hours, busy schedules, late dinners (dinner usually after 8pm), etc. I am able to feel and experience Hong Kong’s mentality when I was having a visiting trip to my sister in Hong Kong. Taiwan was once similar to Hong Kong but now it tends to be more easy and comfortable which I think we still have room to be improved.

Flexibility also well applies to Hong Kong folks. From Hong Kong’s return to China in 1997 to CEPA in 2004, and till now the railway connection between China and Hong Kong; the changes in Hong Kong make it become a stronger and adaptable city.

These are the elements which I think Taiwan can learn from it in order to get connected and to open the world.

3. What do you think about the Hong Kong culture and what do you appreciate about?

While traditionally Hong Kong is thought to be another city in China, it has been influenced by the Chinese and the British during various eras of history which embodies both Chinese and Western cultures. Hong Kong monuments showcase the influence of both Chinese and British colonial heritage which make Hong Kong as a mixed cultural city. Because of the above elements, Hong Kong becomes one of the most successful and popular tourism cities in the world.

4. What is the difference between the Jaycees people in Taiwan and Hong Kong?

Compare to JCI Taiwan, the average age of members in JCI Hong Kong is comparatively younger. They can be more focused on their personal development and international community. Also some of the JCI Hong Kong events are smaller in scale but more in detail which they can focus on a small group of people in the society as a result.

Members in JCI Taiwan emphasize more on internal networking, business activities, etc. and we tend to host larger events such as district conventions. However, we are less connected to the international community due to the language barrier.

Fundraising - “Happy Movie, Happy Kids”Going to the movies may seem like a commonplace activity for many of us; however, for a significant proportion of Hong Kong families, this is highly unaffordable. This year for fundraising we decided to work with Kiddy Heart Canteen, which was started by Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service to serve this population. Kiddy Heart Canteen is an organization aimed at alleviating the financial burden of lower income families by offering inexpensive dinners to underprivileged primary students. For this event, through a sponsorship program, children and their families from Kiddy Heart Canteen had an opportunity to have the happy experience of watching the movie “Rio 2” at Palace APM in APM, Kwun Tong. There was much laughter and excitement during the movie. Our event was held on 20th of April, 2014 at 11:30am and we had a total of 70-80 participants. Participants also received special souvenirs and took family photos. A total amount of around $30,000 dollars was raised.

Community Development



Family HarmonyFamily is the basic unit of the society. We believe that a harmonious family will result in a harmonious community.

This year, Family Harmony continues to promote the values, ethics and individual responsibility needed for family harmony. We aim to create “The Family Day” for the community where families will be able to spend quality time with immaterial play resources. At the same time we will be actively promoting the family core values of "Love and Care", "Respect and Responsibility" and "Communication and Harmony”.

The event will be an outdoor carnival for the whole community, taking place on 19 October 2014 at Kwun Tong Hong Ling Road Sports Ground. The day will be filled with performance, booths and games to promote quality parent-children relationship and enhance social integration. We are delighted to have Kwun Tong District Officer, Mr Gilford Law, JP, to be our Guest of Honor for the event.

Through collaboration with “Playright” for the event, we aim to promote family bonding within a fun-filled context that can include family members of all ages. On the day, we will swiftly transform an ordinary outdoor open space into a quality and safe playground. The event is named [童真˙共樂 ] as we believe family reunion games can be much more than a fun-time with the family, it will enable family members to revisit and reflect on the values of the family. We aim to use this as a powerful tool to help bond families together and hope to enrich the life of children through quality play.

Joint Chapter Visit to Spastic AssociationThe joint community service visit (co-organized by JCI Victoria, JCI Tai Ping Shan and JCI East Kowloon) to the Spastic Association took place on July 12, 2014 at the Shek Wai Kok Parents’ Resource Centre. Many members from each of the 3 chapters participated in this meaningful outreach. The purpose was to interact with children who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and autism and better understand how to communicate with this population. The program included playing games with the children, having snacks together, and creating a piece of art together.



JCI East Kowloon has been promoting the concept of "Corporate Social Responsibility" to the public through the CSR project series. This competition, as one of the CSR series, served to encourage the young to adopt a critical and logical approach to consider the corporate responsibility issues. Coupled with the liberal studies subject, the competition has broadened their exposure and strengthened their knowledge. At the contest, sign language translation was also provided by volunteers at the same time.

The Kick-off & Preliminary Contests were held on 9 August at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The topic was “Corporate Social Responsibility does not mean Charity”. After a series of debate, students learned the debate skills. The judges also shared their opinions and gave advice to the students to prepare better for their next contest. After the contest, the students visited Zero Carbon Zone, to learn how enterprises can use modern technology to build a carbon free environment and to protect the environment.

Students from St Paul's School and Belilios Public School took photos with our judges in Preliminary Contests. The winners of the Preliminary Contests entered into Final Contests, which was held on 23 August at Laguna Verde Avenue. The students had to speak in front of the public to debate on ”Standard Working Hours can help to promote Corporate Social Responsibility”and this was a really good experience for them to do public speaking.

Miss Woon, our guest of honor, gave a meaningful speech to encourage the youngsters. Sign language translation was also provided at the same time.

JCI East Kowloon organized this event and 29 participants attended this meaningful event. Though discussions and analogies, participants could understand their own values, the values and principles of JCI, the role of all members in establ i sh ing the Loca l Organization’s identity, the activities needed to fulfi l l the JCI Mission. They also understood that active citizens would create positive change in their communities.

Our guest speaker, Ms Teresa Chan, shared with us how to prepare and write effective and persuasive proposals. Eight members, along with their friends had participated this workshop.

Leadership Development Workshop Series 1 – Project Proposal Writing Workshop (Feb 20, 2014)

Work l i fe balance was always our concern and the theme of this workshop was “Ideal Body, Balanced Life”. 24 participants gathered in WoW Fitness in Mongkok. It was very interesting as it let them to try kickboxing and attend fitness talk as well.

Leadership Development Workshop cum May Monthly Fellowship Meeting (May 31, 2014)

We invited Ms. Winnie Yeung (National Vice President, National Assigned Executive Officer) as Head Trainer, together with Ms. Parlett Chang (Past President of JCI Queensway) as Assistant trainer, to deliver this meaningful programme to our 17 participants.

JCI Recommended Course - Social Responsibility Training Course (Jul 10, 2014)

The Mid-Year Evaluation Meeting was held together with the Training Workshop. There was an evaluation session for the Board members to review what had been done in the first half year in 2014 and to discuss how to improve our projects in second half year. The members went cycl ing and played mass games, during this, they did self-reflection and develop leadership and communication skills.

The “Powerful Storytelling PMO” was held on 31 Aug. The topic was about improving the

presentation skills through children’s book reading, mastering the skills by using your voice confidently and to make a lasting impression through your speaking. The guest speaker was Pauline Young, trainer from Bring Me a Book Foundation. During the PMO, life opportunities through JCI were also presented by NEVP Brian Kwan. Some n e w c o m e r s s h o w e d interest and intended to join JCI East Kowloon.

August - Prospective Member Orientation (PMO)

To cope with the theme of JCI East Kowloon this year, we would like to provide some practical and successful ways to

"Take a Chance and Make your Change" when facing adversity. We were glad to have invited elites from the business and political sectors: Gilford Law, J.P. - District Officer of Kwun Tong and Ronnie Cheng - Director of Business Development, Co-founder of Lab Made Ice-cream. They disclosed their material chances when facing difficulties and shared their past experience to step on failure. During the event, participants also had a networking opportunity with guests and other members through exchanging views and opinions.

Take These Wings - SMC Gathering cum March Monthly Fellowship Gathering

The gathering was a good chance for seniors and juniors to meet together, to share their experience and exchange views and opinions. SMC Chairman Ag n e s Wo n g , P P Senator Eddy Wu a n d P P S e n a t o r Anthony Cheng were invited to share their exper ience about how JC brings impact to their lives. It was a joyful night.

We had a great and healthy day at the JC Sports Day on 1 May 2014.

There were 18 EK members attended, some of them came with their family too. We achieved good results:

May - JCIHK Sports Day Informal Afternoon Tea Gathering

Membership Affairs Director Carmen Chiang also organized a 3-tier English style afternoon tea gathering at Harvey Nichols Restaurant & B a r i n Ce n t ra l . Members and new friends enjoyed the tea time in a relaxing environment.

A delicious “Chung King BBQ buffet” at Bahia Restaurant Chung King BBQ in Tai Po

was organized by Membership Affairs Director Carmen Chiang. Many members and new friends attended this gathering! It was an interesting BBQ with food already prepared on bamboo skewers and we just needed to put it on a grill. We all enjoyed it and had a happy time.

April - Chung King BBQ Informal Gathering

Informal gathering aims to enhance the bonding among members and

introduces JCI East Kowloon to new friends in a causal atmosphere. This was the first informal member gathering in 2014 organized by Honorary Treasurer Path Liu in Cask Coffee in Kwun Tong. During the gathering, President Pong Yau shared his memorable hiking experience and NVP Past President Kenny Lo shared his feeling towards JC life. We also met new friends in the event.

Carol HoMy life in JCI East Kowloon is fruitful and valuable. I have the chance to meet a lot of good friends from different backgrounds but sharing the same goal to serve the community. I am so grateful to have taken part as a member.

What EK offers to members are not just opportunities to meet different people or being involved in different projects, but also the chance to develop oneself to become a citizen in order to make a change. Violet LuiThanks a lot to members of JCI EK! I am happy joining JCI EK, I make new friends every time I join the events. JCI members are all sociable and friendly, I enjoy talking with them so much. Besides, I am learning how to organize a big event, the Family Harmony Project. It is a challenging job for me as I need to do something I never did before, such as writing letters for sponsorship. I appreciate the contribution of organizing committee members through different events that they are devoted to those voluntary work. Let’s keep working hard together and contribute to our community.

Isaac TaiI am so glad that I can be a part of JCI East Kowloon. JCI East Kowloon is definitely a platform that allow us to develop ourselves, to shape us into a better one. During the time in JCI , I have the opportunity to try things that I never did.

Mick MakI am very excited of being a PM of JCI. JCI is a very good environment for everyone to improve themselves by joining or planning events. This brings me so much new experience up to now. I think there will be many other new challenges for me in JCI. I am really excited when I think of the life in JCI in the future.

Rex WongExploration and learning in JCI is endless and fruitful. Through few months of participation in JCI EK events, there are lots of opportunities for me to explore this platform for developing myself as a better leader. Besides the leadership experience, JCI EK provides a trustful environment as a family to share our own problems as well as knowledge. I am happy to join JCI EK and looking forward to launch the Family Harmony Carnival in October.

Sarah ChuiIt is a bliss to join JCI EK. I keep meeting amazing people in this organization. Activities are fun and they help facilitating my personal development. I look forward to upcoming opportunities and challenges because I believe that's the only way to get oneself to move forward.

Established in 1980, Junior Chamber International (JCI) East Kowloon is a registered charitable organization. She is one of the 19 local chapters of the JCI Hong Kong, which is affiliated with the worldwide leadership development organization – JCI.
