Why does this 10 year vision matter? How is it relevant for me? JDC West is an organization that has a vision and big goals for the future. This 10 year vision captures why this organization, and its future, is important, where we are going, and how we get there. It is up to all of us to create this future together.

How did we get here? We asked the question: what does JDC West mean to you? We got answers from groups across the JDC West community – our delegates, our volunteers, our alumni, our sponsors, our

participating schools, the business community, and others. We created this 10 year vision by understanding why people see JDC West as an organization that invites leaders to create a

business community that makes a difference in the world.

How will we use this? This 10 year vision will serve as our north star – setting a vision and goals for us all to work towards together. It will be a valuable communication tool, allowing us to connect with stakeholders across the JDC West community. By being clear about why we exist as an organization, we will foster accountability as we create the JDC West experience inspired by

this vision.

What is a BHAG? BHAG (“bee-hag”) stands for Big Hairy Audacious Goal and comes from Built to Last by Jim Collins and Jerry Porras. A BHAG is clear, compelling, and people "get it" right away. It serves as a unifying focal point of effort, galvanizing people, and creating team spirit as people strive to achieve it. It captures the imagination and opens the door to creatively achieving a common goal.

How will this evolve? What are the next steps? This is a living, breathing vision that reflects our organization, our community, and our spirit. As our community grows, so too will our strategic goals and actions, while our north star remains intact. This 10 year vision provides a framework for everyone in the JDC West community to set goals in our journey to achieve our BHAGs.
