Port of Portland: JDE Data Refreshes

• Port’s database is Microsoft SQL Server

• Able to refresh each of the four test environments by replacing the business data/control data database

• Created a location to see what date was used for each environment

• The database refresh was created in 2007 and has evolved as we run into issues

• Development tools• Refresh built as a SQL Agent job

• Use Jenkins to launch from E1 Page

• Logic on E1 Page to limit who can execute a data refresh and from what environment(s)

• High level refresh steps• Save key tables (BI Pub for example)

• Drop business data/control table database

• Restore database using PD backup

• Correct Schema names

• Correct special access (interface users)

• Fix URLs in Tasks (menu items)

• Apply or disable database triggers and stored procedures

• Restore saved key tables (BI Pub)

• Redirect Vertex from PD to the environment

• Override all email addresses
