JHYC was formed early in the life of JollyHarbour and has provided sailing and social opportunities for the community ever since. Following a quiet period for the Club in 2006, a complete change of Committee succeeded in bringing new impetus and the Club has gone from strength to strength ever since. The sailing grounds off Jolly Harbour and up and down our beautiful west coast are some of the best around, and members of the Club enjoy many activities and social events that the Club now has in place.

Dinghy Sailing takes place every Saturdaymorning and is specifically provided for the JHYC Youth Development Program, targeted at designated youth organisations throughout Antigua to provide FREE dinghy sailingtraining to the island’s youngsters. The hope is that from this embryonic sailing experience, the kids will go on to take advantage of the many employment opportunities the islandprovides in the marine industry. Saturday Sailing takes place every Saturday afternoon throughout the year. In order to cater for cruising sailors as well as the “hot shot” racers, Saturday Sailing is arranged with 2 classes. Ignoring Waitukubuli, the Carib name for the island, Columbus when he stumbled upon this rich soil, renamed it Dominica, because helanded on a Sunday. If by chance he were to ever revisit, it would be the only island he would still recognize today.
