Jobs in Kharkov is the mobile application created for the job search and recruitment website of the same name.

THE TASKDeveloped by the Screen Interactive team, Jobs in Kharkov is the largest regional website for job search and recruitment in Ukraine. We continue to maintain the site and constantly work on improvements to make it convenient for users.

Since mobile apps have become standard for smartphone owners, we decided to create the mobile application for the Jobs in Kharkov website.

Objective: to build a product for mobile devices that allows users to search for information about jobs, employers, and qualified professionals using their smartphones.

Technology goals:

to create a convenient, easy-to-use interface for the mobile application;

to set up the data exchange between the app and the Jobs in Kharkov website database;

to build and publish a mobile application for Android and iOS devices.

SOLUTIONWe developed the mobile application for the two major mobile platforms, and it has a simple, bright interface and rich functionality for applicants and employers.

INTERFACE

Similar to the main website, the app has two user roles, Employer and Applicant. The functionality of the application differs for applicants and employers.

The messaging system is available for both employers and applicants.

Applicants can search and browse new vacancies, apply for jobs, and view the detailed information about leading Kharkov employers.

Employers have the ability to browse applicants’ CVs and send job ads to appropriate candidates. Employers also can see the information about leading recruiting agencies.

User roles

FUNCTIONALITYAuthorizationUsers, previously registered on the Jobs in Kharkov website, can use their login and pass-word to log into the app.

After logging onto the app, the applicants can:

apply for jobs using their CVs;

communicate with employers through the messaging system;

subscribe for new vacancies;

add vacancies to Favorites;

manage their personal information

and login data.

Unregistered users can only browse vacancies and view information about the leading employers.

Vacancies searchApplicants can browse through new jobs in categories or use a search tool.

They can search vacancies by category, subcategory, key words, and region.

FUNCTIONALITYViewing vacanciesApplicants can open and view detailed descriptions of vacancies right on their mobile phone screens.

Color and a company’s logo highlight the featured vacancies and the vacancies of the leading employers in the main list, just as on the Jobs in Kharkov website

FUNCTIONALITYApplying for a jobApplicants can apply for a job they like by choosing one of their CVs and sending it to the employer.

In this section, the user also can write a cover letter.

FUNCTIONALITYSubscription for vacanciesApplicants can save the search criteria they use and subscribe for new vacancies.

Every day, they will receive by email notice of new job openings that fit their search criteria.

Users can create new subscriptions as well as manage the existing ones.

FavoritesIf an applicant likes a particular vacancy, he can save it to Favorites. That means there’s no need to look for this vacancy in the main list again.

FUNCTIONALITYVIP Companies is a section for users to browse the list of leading Kharkov employers.

Each company has a personal page with its detailed information and the list of available vacancies.

FUNCTIONALITYInternal messaging system The applicant sends the CV to an employer as a message. The employer can respond to the message and continue to communicate with this applicant.

The application stores the history of all written communication in the Messages section in the app and on the Jobs in Kharkov website. The user can always go back to pick up and continue a conversation from the app or from the website.

Push notificationsEach time a user gets a new message sent from the app or from the Jobs in Kharkov website, the app informs him by sending a push notification to his phone.

Registered users, who have subscribed for vacancies, regularly receive notifications about new job ads on the website.

FUNCTIONALITYMostly, the functionality the employers get is similar to the functionality the applicants have. However, features for employers focus on the candidate search.

Employers can:

Search for and browse applicants’ CVs and view their contact details;

Add interesting CVs to Favorites;

Subscribe for new applicants’ CVs, manage subscriptions, and receive

notifications about new CVs;

Invite appropriate applicants to apply for a particular job;

Communicate with applicants via messages;

Browse through the list of leading recruiting agencies;

Use message templates to notify certain applicants about a job opening.
