GOLDMINE• Due to previous high school injuries Walker enrolled in Harbor

College to earn credits and recover, with the hope of returning to football. Located about 10 miles from his native Palos Verdes, Walker was able to stay close to home and spend time with his father, Brett, an entrepreneur and carpenter. “He builds a lot of things,” said Walker. Mostly, the elder Walker builds stages, kitch-ens and different types of cabinetry. During that time, Walker took on carpentry work with his dad, building stages for concerts. “It’s not easy work,” Brett Walker said. “It’s physical work. You work hard. It’s heavy gear.”

• In July of 2019, Walker took part in The 5th An-nual Angel City Games in Los Angeles, an annual celebration of adaptive and Paralympic sport and an inclusive competition open to athletes of all skill levels who have physical or visual impairments. Walker participated in the celebrity wheelchair basketball game on the final day of the event. The organization provides an equipment loaner pro-gram, providing sports wheelchairs and adaptive equipment to new and developing athletes, while also supporting emerging community recreation and school-based programs through curriculum devel-opment, coaching education and athlete training.

GOLDMINE (CONTINUED)• In November of 2019, Walker and his fellow teammates took a trip

to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where they were invited to a birthday gathering in the hospital’s “Child Life Zone,” a state-of-the-art play area inside Phoenix Children’s Hospital for patients and families to enjoy. During the celebration, Walker spent time playing games with young patients of the hospital.
