(Joh 19:23) Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a

part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top

throughout.(Joh 19:24) They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers

did.

(Psa 22:14) I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

(Psa 22:15) My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my

jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

(Psa 22:16) For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

(Psa 22:17) I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

(Psa 22:18) They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

(Isa 61:10) I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with

the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with

the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh

himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself

with her jewels.

(Phi 3:9) And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is

through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

(Rom 4:5-6) But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that

justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as

David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God

imputeth righteousness without works,

(Rom 4:5-6) But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that

justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as

David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God

imputeth righteousness without works,

(Isa 64:6) But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses

are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the

wind, have taken us away.

Page 11: John 19:23-37

(2Co 5:21) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

(Zep 1:7) Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the

day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his

guests.

(Zep 1:8) And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD'S sacrifice, that I will punish the

princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed

with strange apparel.

Page 13: John 19:23-37

(Rev 16:15) Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his

shame.

(Rev 19:7-8) Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was

granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the

righteousness of saints.

(Joh 19:28) After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that

the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

(Joh 19:29) Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge

with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

(Joh 19:30) When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is

finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

(Psa 22:14-15) I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like

wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my

tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

Page 18: John 19:23-37

(Psa 69:3) I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

(Psa 69:21) They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to

drink.

Page 19: John 19:23-37

(Mat 27:34) They gave him vinegar to drink

mingled with gall: and when he had tasted

thereof, he would not drink.

Joh 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast,

Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me,

and drink.

III. The cross of UNITY

Page 22: John 19:23-37

(Joh 19:32-36) Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a

spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. For

these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone

of him shall not be broken.

(1Pe 1:19) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish

and without spot:

(1Co 1:10) Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name

of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but

that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
