What is Tough Mudder?A Tough Mudder is team oriented and designed to challenge physical and mental strength and endurance. It expands over 10-12 miles and while it is not timed, it offers a variety of exhilarating and unique obstacles. A Tough Mudder is not a race, but a challenge. It tests the participants’ ability to work with a team, along with their individual physical abilities.
Steps in Preparing for Tough Mudder
There are three major steps involved in preparing for a Tough Mudder. The first is to get mentally motivated, the second is to build a team, and the third is physical training.
Mentally Motivated
A Tough Mudder is as much a mental challenge as it is a physical challenge. It is important to prepare your mental endurance. Throughout the race, you will be tackling a variety of challenges. You will have to think your way through some of these challenges and figure out how to work with your team.
Build a Team
The strength of your team is important. Not only do you all have to be in shape, but you also have to be able to trust and rely on one another. This challenge is based on camaraderie, so build a team that can work cohesively.
Physical Training
Finally, you will have to be in shape physically. Prepare by running long distances and training your muscles and endurance. Exercise and train with your team members so that you are all at the same level of fitness.
John Blair Wells enjoys the challenge of a Tough Mudder and always looks forward to
