“Clean House” with John Crane... Eliminate Costly Maintenance & Repairs

We Know Your Business…From effluent station, primary clarifier, nitrification, nitrification clarifier, filtration/backwash, to sludge dewatering, chemical addition and effluent holding and discharge.

Your acids…alkalis…coagulants…PH adjuster…precipitators…flocculator nitrifiers.

Waste water treatment is now more sophisticated and effective than ever before. It’s also more demanding in terms of your pumps, agitators, blowers, and mixers.

…and Your Unique ChallengesIn-plant efficiency and cost control compound waste water management problems. Maintenance and clean-up expenses continue to erode operating budgets without contributing to overall improvement in the in-plant systems you’ve installed. And you know the problems that are caused when one blower or a pump goes down, or a coupling disconnects or a flow indicator ceases to operate properly.

We’ll Help You “Clean House”For mechanical end face shaft seals that can stand up to acids, alkalis, abrasives, and years of normal wear.

For specially designed packing – from braided material to various impregnations including PTFE and graphite dispersions.

For reliable couplings and support systems.

For the expertise to specify the right solution for all your special sealing problems…John Crane has proven over the years to be the industry’s most reliable supplier and has the most innovative application engineers for all your plant’s sealing needs.

Type 1 & Type 2Application: effluent pumps, grit pumps, grinders, sludge and scum pumps, utility water pumps, lift station pumps, slakers and slurry pumps.

Performance Features: positive drive, self-aligning, non-clogging design delivers optimum performance in severe chemical/abrasive conditions. Flexible bellows construction allows seal assembly to move freely along the shaft to insure constant, uniform contact with the mating ring at all times.

Seals for Water and Wastewater Treatment

Type 21Application: sample pumps, seal water pumps and sump pumps.

Performance Features: general purpose seal made of stainless steel. Will handle fluids in a wide variety of pressure of 150 psi(g)/10 bar(g).

Type 20/10Application: chemical additive pumps and acid wash pumps.

Performance Features: chemically inert PTFE or other corrosion resistant materials in all fluid contact areas. Specify for pressures up to 150 psi(g)/10 bar(g). Speed up to 1000 fpm/5 m/s.

Type 20R/10RApplication: chemical additive pumps and acid wash pumps

Performance Features: Similar to Type 20 Seal except with removable primary ring. Can withstand severe corrosive conditions – acids, salts, strong oxidizing and reducing agents and organics. Speed up to 2500 fpm/13 m/s.

Type 8-1/8B1, 58U/58BApplication: chemicals, caustics, acids, aqueous solutions, crystallizing fluids, lubricating liquid, hydrocarbons and solvents.

Performance Features: Type 8 seals are available in a wide variety of elastomers and face materials for handling practically every industrial fluid. All components are held together by a snap ring in a unitized construction design. Specify for pressures up to 325 psi(g)/22.5 bar(g) and up to 1100 psi(g)/66 bar(g) for balanced versions.

Style C-VH RingsFor high pressure valve and reciprocating services. Features heavy wall and heel section for applications to 500 psi(g)/34.45 bar(g) TFE material used throughout. *Not recommended for rotary application.

Split SealsAvailable in both Type 3740 cartridge and Type 37FS Series heavy duty versions, our fully split seals allow rapid installation and maintenance without disassembling the equipment involved. They are regularly specified for everything from small centrifugal pumps to large rotating equipment including split case pumps, vertical lift pumps and side-entry mixers and agitators with severe shaft run-out.

Seals and Packing for Water and Wastewater Treatment

Standard Cartridge SealsThe Type 5600 and Type 4600 ranges offer a comprehensive selection of universal cartridge seals which have numerous applications on condensate, cooling water, raw water, ash sulice, fuel oil and many other duties. With single and dual, O-ring, elastomer bellows and metal bellows options available they can seal a wide range of fluids. They are also designed to fit standard ANSI and DIN pump seal chambers plus other rotating shaft equipment.

CPR BushingProduct Description: The “CPR” bushing is designed to reduce or restrict process media from entering stuffing box or seal chamber in turn extending packing or mechani-cal seal life. This product is designed for use in most types of rotating equipment which handles a wide variety of services. With the maintenance person in mind, the “CPR” Bushing Kit contains products for removal of existing pack-ing and lantern ring plus items necessary for installation.

Performance Features: Temperature up to 550°F/288°C pH range 0 - 14 Speed up 3,600 fpm/18 m/s Pressure up to 500 psi(g)/34 bar(g)

go off with the improved push-clean buttonn Simplifies pump setup and servicen Detects and locates seal water line problemsn Flow indicator and pressure gauge with memory pinn Unique non-clog valvesn Available with optional electrical alarms

Metastream® L-Series Industrial Membrane CouplingsThe Metastream L-Series range of membrane couplings has been specifically designed to provide a cost effective solution for demanding industrial applications. The couplings are selected by their torque capacity, with the scalloped hub providing the right size for the shaft.

Fit and Forget: The L-Series coupling is designed for infinite life. Overload Protection: The coupling is fitted with overload collars to prevent membrane rupture in the event of severe torsional overload. Zero Maintenance: The all metal construction has no relative moving parts, and hence requires no lubrication or routine maintenance increasing reliability No Backlash: The coupling design, with fitted bolts, and tor-sionally stiff membranes ensures that there is zero backlash

Powerstream A-Series Elastomer CouplingAn ideal solution to maintenance problem due to periodic coupling failure. If a new insert is needed, a low-cost re-placement can be installed in minutes, without moving either the prime mover or the driven equipment. n Easy to install n Very safe, steel ring contains flexible element n Urethane insert is resistant to most chemicals and oils n High temperature inserts: up to 300°F/150°C n No lubrication or maintenance n Can rotate hubs independently for motor testing n No metal-to-metal contact provides a non-sparking design n Large bore and torque capacity n High misalignment capability n Horizontal and vertical operations, in either direction
