First, he will clearly show the process he most often uses to represent form using light and color. Then, he will demonstrate how he uses atmosphere and the drama of values and placement to create moving paintings that go beyond the ordinary. In addition to his painting demonstration, he will review the 100 selected paintings for this year’s watercolor exhibit. Risë Parberry 10 AM to 3 PM Saturday, November 11 Risë will share her techniques for achieving dynamic abstracts in transparent watercolor by relying on a knowledge of pigment characteristics, employing a saturated paper approach, and engaging in a fascinating conversation with the painting as it evolves. In this demonstration, you will learn to convey the essence of your subject through the use of intentional design methods. Lian Quan Zhen 10 AM to 3 PM Saturday, December 2 Lian is a sought-after watercolor teacher in the U.S. and abroad. He will demonstrate his world-famous negative painting technique for capturing dynamic still lifes. Using a combination of traditional Chinese and Western methods, he will illustrate the process he uses to paint vibrant grape vines and leaves working solely with the three primary colors. Janice Cipriani-Willis 10 AM to 3 PM Saturday, October 21 In her portraits, Janice expresses the subtle and obscure beauty she finds in her travels and experiences. She will share her current working style that focuses on the range of expression observed when encountering people from all walks of life.
