YES, there will be numbers, graphs and stats but…


Google Analytics makes it a breeze …


Are you all set?


Log in to your wordpress blog


You will be led to your dashboard

Now, let’s start with Google Analytics


To start, you only need TWO easy steps


1. Sign up


2. Install the tracking code

Let’s start !


Open a new tab in your browser


In your browser, type “ www.google.com/analytics/ “


You will see this screen


On the right upper portion is the sign up


Here it is zoomed in!


If you have a Gmail account, just click “sign in”


Type in your email and password


Click “Sign In”


Click “Sign Up”


This screen will appear


Let’s fill up the account information


Scroll down and choose your country or territory


Here it is, zoomed in!


Click the box under Terms and Conditions


Click “Create Account”


Pls. notice “Website Tracking”


At this stage, the tracking code is not yet installed


Scroll down until you see this…


Pls. take note of the code


Highlight the code


Right click on the highlighted portion and click copy


Go back to your blog dashboard


Click “Appearance” and “Themes”


Click “Editor”


You will see this…


Looks totally ALIEN???


Relax! Just Inhale and Exhale!


Notice the right side of the blog


Click “Footer”


Close up view of Footer.php


You will see the alien language again!


DO NOT PANIC


Ignore it!


Scroll down till you see this…


Now look for “ </body> “


You can find it at the end


Have you found “</body>”???


Put your cursor before </body>


Then press “enter” twice


Note the 2 spaces before </body>


This is where you will paste the tracking code…


Click “Right Click”


And “Paste”


Click “Update File”


Congratulations! You have pasted the tracking code!


You made it! Now, breathe easy!


Now, you check if the tracking code is installed


Go to your Google Analytics Dashboard


Click the title of your blog


You will see this…


Click on the name of your blog


Then click on “Tracking Code”


There you have it!


Now you can breathe easy

Google Analytics works only in self hosted blogs!
