The kemper is a great place with it’s fine fancy dining. there has a handy gift shop with art work from local artists...



It shows a lot of internationally acclaimed contemporary art with its permanent collection.



And has 12 featured art exhibits every year — there are always new exhibitions with visiting international artists.



he kemper aims to stimulate dialogue, to foster understanding and appreciation of modern and contemporary art, and to present significant works of art as educational resources. But, with everything that thquestion what more could they be?

The audience, of course, are it’s visitors. Currently, the Kemper invites anyone and everyone — it aims to attract people who are attracted to art in general.



“HI. I go to museums.Especially modern,contemporary ones...”

There are always your typical museum goers who don’t need a lot of persuading to go and appreciate art.



“I like art... in general...”

There are people who are semi-interested and are always open to passively look through the gallery.



“We were just passing by...”

And there may be the casual visitors who are just curious...



other notable museums of contemporary art have similar missions are the Art institute of Chicago



and the contemporary Milwaukee Art Museum.



These organisations all have a great deal in common, and generally have similar approaches for maintaining



It’s safe to say, the Kemper is already a wonderfully successful Organisation in many ways.



BUTbut...



from a design stand point, there seems to be a lot of missed opportunity. For example, their current design system is not terribly cohesive.

it’s logo — which is of course an important aspect of the companies visual identity — does not seem to do justice for an organisation that is so versatile, energetic, and full of national and intKemper should be proud of, and promote the fact that they of er such a versatile, aesthetic, contemporary, visually and mindfully engaging and informative experience.



These are various brochures, sign up forms, and a map that are currently produced by the Kemper. I think it’s safe to say that current design system is lacking in visual and conceptual cohesio



With all that the kemper museum of contemporary art has to of er, I think it should consider creating a design system that does matches the versatility, energy, and diversity of the organisatio

as far as the mission of the kemper goes, I believe that it ought to be more aggressive in finding a wider audience by being more outgoing and active than they currently are.

In essence, the Kemper seems to be pretty solid... though, in an ef ort to cater to a wider audience, perhaps they might think about encouraging art that uses new media that is interactive, or artifacts that are more directly educational to the general public — inovative education for art appreciation.



as far as visual inspiration goes, I’m generally looking at, interchangeability motion (which reflect the versatility and diversity of the museum, also a minimalistic/modernist approach that is coseems appropriate.

There is a lot of photography and sculpture in contemporary art, as well as more traditional art forms. Also, contemporary art is often bold, visual, and clever.

The Kemper is a wonderful little gem for contemporary art lovers in Kansas City — but it should be a gem for art lovers and non-art lovers for the entire country and the world!

Further more, the visual identity of the Kemper should address its vitality, artistic diversity, and aesthetic experience — it should be visually appealing, energetic, interchangeable and more!
