For Kaila...
Meet the Art family. There’s Josh, Melinda, Barbara, Scooter and Leon. They are made of all the things we use to help us make art - like drawing, writing, building and having fun!
Let’s read their story...
Leon Art: The Dad. He's a part-time journalist. He’s totally
devoted to his kids, not very at DIY but is a good cook. Rarely ever goes out and
enjoys listening to old jazz music.
Barbara Art: The Mum. She's a
primary school teacher. She likes making things with the kids at home
and at school.
Scooter Art: The Dog. Scooter was a present for Josh one
Christmas, who named him Scooter because that’s what he
thought he was going to get that Christmas. He rarely
gets taken out of the house.
Melinda Art: The daughter.
Doesn’t like anybody but her group of friends. She’s
into card making and talking on her
mobile.
Josh Art: The son. He wants to leave home and start
working full-time at age 11. He’s into action figures,
toys, destroying things and making them
again.
Josh and his dog Scooter were in his bedroom. They wanted to play but didn’t know what to do.
“Let’s paint and draw,” said Josh to Scooter. Scooter stuck out his tongue – he wanted to paint and draw. But Josh changed his mind, and went on his computer to see if there was anything else they could do.
Josh smiled – he had a brilliant idea. This meant he had thought of something to do. He was sure that Scooter would love his idea as well.
But Scooter didn’t! He jumped in the air in surprise. He threw his legs up beside him.“It’s okay, Scooter,” said Josh. “You’ll like my idea.”
