Hilliard Lyons will continue to operate as “A Baird Company” until we are fully integrated onto Baird’s platform on October 19th, at which point you will become clients of Baird and have full access to Baird’s products and services. In August, you will receive Baird Account paperwork either via mail or email (DocuSign). Please sign and return this information ASAP.

What to expect during our transition to Baird

1. Where are you from? Owenton, Kentucky (about an hour north of Louisville.)

2. Which 4 individuals, living or dead, would you most like to eat dinner with? Probably Ronald Reagan, Clint Eastwood, Warren Buffet, and Chris LeDoux.

3. What was your first job? I was a bag boy at a local grocery store in my hometown early in high school.

4. If you could pick up a new skill in an instant what would it be? Being able to play the banjo.

5. If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be? Be the General Manager of a professional sports team.

6. Do you collect anything? Foreign currencies.

Team Member SPOTLIGHT - Garrett Cobb(Garrett is a junior at WKU studying finance and is interning with us)

7. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? The Teton Mountain Range in Wyoming. I really enjoy everything about the mountains and this mountain range is supposed to be one of the coolest in the world.

For the month of October, you will receive two monthly account statements: one from Hilliard Lyons showing assets transferring to Baird and the second statement showing Baird’s receipt of the transferred assets. In early 2020, you will also receive two sets of 1099 documents: the first set being from Hilliard Lyons for 1/1/19 – 10/18/19 and the second set from Baird representing 10/19/19 – 12/31/19. As of the first week of May, our entire team has visited our new Baird home office in Milwaukee, WI. We all had great trips and enjoyed meeting many of the Baird folks we’ll be working with once the operational transition occurs in October. Baird’s offices and conference center were quite impressive, though some of us could’vedone without the snowy and rainy spring weather in Milwaukee!

In April, Mike, Shawn, Drew, Josh, Andrew, and Jacqueline attended the 2019 Hilliard Lyons National Forum in Louisville. The theme of this biennial event was “Unbridled Opportunity” and was co-hosted by Baird. Over three days, the group had the opportunity to meet and visit with Baird’s leadership team, as well as representatives from various departments such as technology, branch support, private wealth management, and many more. In addition to participating in topical and informational breakout sessions, they also got to have a little fun at “A Night at the Races” with many of their colleagues, both old and new.

The JPS team sees the CCK team as friends and family, and we love any opportunity to interact with them and their campers. We volunteered at CCK’s carnival night during Diabetes Week. We had fun making snow cones and popcorn, playing games with the campers, face painting, and dunking Josh in the dunk tank!

We have Hot Rods tickets that we would like to share with our clients. If you and your family would like to go to a game, let us know. There are still a lot of games in July and August and it is a fun activity to do with your kids or grandkids! Just give Michelle a call and she will work it out!

Did you know we offer free shredding to all our clients? Bring us any documents or papers that you want to shred and we will take care of them for you! Stop by anytime - no appointment needed.

At JPS we’ve identified our Core Values as Humility, Discipline, Wisdom and Transparency. While it’s not on the list, Gratitude is something that we all embrace in our daily lives. We feel that we have been immensely blessed and it’s our responsibility to bless others. One great way we’ve implemented to do that is by randomly and without cause buying lunch for a local non-profit once a month. We are thankful for those community members who tirelessly work to make our city and community better. We partnered with one of our favorite restaurant owners, Spence Sheldon, at Donatos. In March, we provided lunch for CASA. In April, we provided lunch and dinner for the BG Police Department. And in May, we had lunch delivered to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life volunteers! If you have a non-profit you would like for us to “love” on, please let us know.

Andrew attended the National Association of Plan Advisors 401(k) Summit, the nation’s largest retirement plan advisor conference. During the three day conference, Andrew joined over 2,000 other 401(k) advisors from across the country to learn more about the unique issues around employer-sponsored retirement plans, how to best assist 401(k) plan sponsors in their fiduciary role, and hear a legislative update from Capitol Hill on the retirement plan industry.

JPS Birthdays last quarter!Andrew’s birthday was May 26th. We celebrated his birthday with a chocolate cake with chocolate icing, his favorite!

Brooke’s Birthday was June 22nd. We celebrated her birthday with strawberry cake and cream cheese icing topped with fresh fruit!

The JPS ladies attended US Bank’s Handbags for Hope Purse Auction to benefit United Way’s Kindergarten Readiness programs. Brooke was the only one that left with a new purse but they all had fun! This is Brooke’s third year serving on the planning committee for the event.

Brooke, Michelle and Jacqueline enjoyed their day at the Women’s Leadership Conference hosted by the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce. The event’s mission was to “Empower, Enlighten & Engage” and encouraged women to go out and make a positive change in their place of business. A highlight of their day was meeting Gigi Butler, founder of Gigi’s Cupcakes!

The ladies of JPS Wealth had a fun night at Purses, Pouts and Pearls to benefit the American Cancer Society. Drew’s wife Kelsey, joined us this year and we all had a blast playing BINGO!

Drew took his family to Hilton Head in June to enjoy a week at the beach.They also enjoyed daily bike rides!

What has the JPS team been up to when we are

not at work?

If you were in our office in June and noticed Mike was looking “scruffy”, this is why. Mike played “The Apostle Paul” at Vacation Bible School.

In June, Shawn had a fun day at CCK with his Nashville friends Jordan Minton, Jordan Reynolds, and Nick Wayne. They wrote a song with the kids for their Highway to Healing Program!

In June, Shawn and Andrew attended the Baird 100th Anniversary celebration and annual meeting. They joined approximately 7,000 Baird employess and special guests from all over the world in Milkwaukee to celebrate this significant milestone in the company’s history. Over the three day event they were able to network and build relationships with the Baird staff and financial advisors, attend breakout sessions to learn about better running our practice, and witness first hand the strong company culture that Baird has. They also got to hear keynote addresses from TV personalities Bear Grylls (Man vs Wild) and Mindy Kaling (The Office). As our team and Hilliard Lyons join Baird, we greatly respect the accomplishments of their first 100 years and are excited to play a part as their focus now turns to another 100 years of providing excellent service to our clients.
