In honor of Bill Thoits, a celebration of life and car show will take place on May 21 st at the Palo Alto Elks Club from 1 to 4. All welcome, brin gs your car to show and say goodbye to Bill. Prayers to Bill’s family.
Bob Risso thanked the club for all the warm message s from all on the passing of Larry Risso aka Speed Racer. A Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
Paul & Bob Risso also brought a Quilt that Larry ha d won at Medford, OR. They have graciously donated it to be a silent auction item a t the Juggers’ Picnic. The proceed to benefit the JBT car.
After the meeting a cake was provided by the Risso’ s to cheer and salute “Speed Racer” on a life well lived.

Race Recap from SONOMA- Here is what I know: DIAN NA MUNRO After blowing up his ride, Black Magic, at March Meet, Parky Parkerson
was out testing a new engine. First run, not as fast as he wanted to be and then in qualifying he BURNED up a starter wire.
Here is The Champ watching to see if the 2nd run would be any faster then the 1st…… not to be the case!!
Sabrina Pecora was really fast early in the day but didn’t go fast enough to win the first round.
Schauer looked great, was a great team player and I think went to the 2nd round. I was too caught up in trying to get Black Magic back up and running.
The PURE ADRENILE crew tried to get Parky back in action, Gary Ryan, Steve O’Brien, Ellis Couchie, Greg Munro were all
Seen with their heads & hands in there trying their best to get him out for 1st round. It just was not meant to be….
I saw quite a few other Juggers’, I do not know how they all finished….. There was John Peet, Eddie Kucher, and others I do not know yet!! . Eddie Kucker went out in 3rd Round at Sonoma I did watch Harold Binsfield and Dan Fisher go to the finals in D Gas and Harold won with a hole shot!

Race Summary for REDDING on April 28-29, 2017 DIANN A MUNRO
It was my first time at the historic Redding Dragstrip for their Kool April Nights – NorCal Nostalgia celebration. It was an adventure!!
Friday they started racing at 5:30 PM. Who starts that late??? It was not a typical weekend that is for sure. They called it ‘KAN-NorCal Nostalgia – Team Bodie Outlaw- Jet Car and More!’. They had classes for Electronics, Non-Electronics, Big Tire, Small tire, Jr, Dragster, Nostalgia Eliminator I, Nostalgia Eliminator II, and don’t forget the 1 Jet Car. It sure seemed like there were more classes but it was probably all of the 1/8th mile grudge racing for money and not the traditional racing I am used to. It was definitely not as big as
March Meet but boy were there a lot of cars and rounds. I was told they had more Nostalgia Cars at this event then they had seen in over 20 years…
This was the first event for the NorCal Nostalgia group. They had a good turnout. There were 11 NE II and 6 or so NE I cars. My disclaimer, I was crewing for Parky Parkerson and being fed by Pecora Family Racing so this report is probably a little biased towards Nostalgia Eliminator II class.
It was a little warm on Friday, getting up into the low 80’s so starting in the late evening is probably a good idea but to wait around all day in the heat to start late and race into the wee hours 1:30 – 2:00 AM is a little late for this old lady. Not to mention they rearranged everything so that the Jet Car could run in the middle of the show….. Needless to say we only got 1 qualifying pass, all freakin day….. URGH!
Saturday had a better format and was a wee bit warmer. We started earlier about 1 PM but still had almost 3 hours between rounds… This made for plenty of time to roam around and check things out.
Highlights from the weekend include:
I met Ruth Blanchard and Don Bird for the first time. They are doing well. They had a friend, Daryl, pictured below, drive Orland Bound. They also told me about the rail they have for sale that used to be John Blanchard’s. If anyone is interested, contact Don.
While I was over talking with Ruth and Don I almost witnessed a Wedding! Congratulations to Jerry & Traci
Bob ‘Parky’ Parkerson was there fine tuning his ‘Black Magic’ after having some issues shaking down the new motor at Sonoma a few weeks ago. He was extremely happy with an 8.64, that qualified him 4th place.
Here is Parky and Sabrina Pecora getting ready for their first & only qualifying run on Friday. These two were the first 2 cars down the
green track & both of them got a little squirrely and had to let off. It was a little tense,Parky did his best lawn mower impression.
. Thank goodness there is plenty of grass between the track and the guardrail….. It needed to be better manicured anyway.
As Team Bodie was doing his 1/8th mile Grudge match, the Juggers’ were having our own! This is Parky and one of Sabrina’s
crew tearing it up down the return road.
It was a good race but …..let’s just say Parky ‘smoked’ her. The motorbike had mechanical issues (dead battery) shortly after the start. Parky left and never looked back!
After all of the fun and games it was back to racing. Saturday was a much organized and had the racers out every 2 – 3 hours for a run.
Sabrina Pecora was super fast all weekend, she finally slowed it down to qualify 5th. She was lucky enough to get 2 byes during the event but that was not enough to knock out,
Parky Parkerson moved through the ladder to the semi-finals against Tim Beeman. With a .000 reaction time, Tim Beeman beat Parky and won the Trip Zip Fund of $500.00.
Sabrina rolled up for the semis and her competition broke, I don’t remember who it was. (I am getting old and forgetful) This was her second bye of the day, getting her to the FINALS!!! Richard’s new paint job. It was gorgeous!

That Tim Beeman was on point, he got a second .000 of the night and eeeked out the win.
Congratulations Tim Beeman and team! Also, thanks to Brian Reinaldo for getting the Nor-Cal Nostalgia up and running.

Lots of represen tation by our Juggers and a big Thank You to Gary Ryan for the hospitality….. There is word on the street that there are quite a few old time Juggers enjoying El Mirage!! President Gary Ryan has a new alias… . The Burning Man!! Understand that Don Bird had a shocking experience at Redding…. They make those Pa ceMakers a little touchy. We all have our special angels around us…. But the Juggers are blessed to have some really special ones here on Earth – Thank you for s preading your wings.
