A Private House

The final project of my freshman year was about designing a pri-vate house for a family with two children.

One parents would have his office adjacent to the house and we had to choose his profession.

The site was in Clamart, a close surburb of Paris. One main drawback: on the south was standing a really high neighbouring house, which was sha-ding the major part of the site.

The Cubical House

This project was about creating a little cubical block of flats. This bloc would be shared by 3 families. The site was fictitious.

My concept was to provide an exte-rior space for each flat. The families would have to shared the surroun-ding garden. Parking spots were in-cluding in the program

ZAC Masséna

The ZAC Masséna project was a commun project to the en-tire promotion. We had to complete a combined program of offices and hou-sing. The site was tricky, at the corner of Tolbiac Street and Chevaleret Street in Paris. Notice that Chevaleret Street is about 22 feet below Tolbiac Street level. On Chevaleret Street can be found one of the main parisian metro station.

Preschool in Evry sur Seine

This second project was bigger. We had to design a preschool in the parisian suburb. Our preschool would stand right next to a primary school already existing.

Seven main classes, two versatile rooms, one refectory, one librairy, three dormitories and, for sure, one playground were required. A space planning work was also asked since the site was pretty sapcious and unoccupied. I decided to create an open park which could be shared by the children coming out from school and the whole neighbourhood.

This project takes place on the top floor of the Architecture and Environmental Design Building, at Cal Poly, SLO.The program was simple: create a new space on the top floor terace. Althought the terace could be a great place to work and hang out, this part of the building is not really used by students.

My first idea for this project was tocreate a stucture over the terace which would seem to be an insect climbing the building. My second idea was to use a structural sys-tem refering to Origami which could help me to shape my canopy like an insect. Finally, the idea of a grasshopper for the in-sect shape became obvious to me. Imitating his skeleton was the easiest way to create a

frame. Ori

This canopy tries to resolve the problem of the weather without creating an enclosed space. A lower piece of steelprovides shade on the south side, during hot and sunny summer days.

The frame is shifted upwards on the east and the west sides so you can enjoy views on both sides.

The frame is wide enough to protect students from the rain, so this space can be used on a rainy but warm day.

As the space is not enclosed, wind still blows through my project and provides a natural ventilation.

The goal of the project is to make this dunes center a new experien-ce.The upper floor is an extreme par-tie where you concentrate on the square view at the end of the path. Then you go down the ramp ente-ring the dunes and getting closer to the aspect of a cave.Once on the lower floor you have the amazing panoramique view and you feel protected by the cave. Then you go outside right in the middle of the wonderful landsca-pe. The north west orientation is justified by sunsets that are seen from spring to fall, the most visi-ted periods.
