The Catholic Corner: Looking for a great summer book to read? Check out these books and more by visiting the Catholic Corner bookcase located in the east entryway at St. Boniface! Resisting Happiness by Matthew Kelly, a New York
Times bestselling author, is a true story about why we sabotage ourselves, feel overwhelmed, set aside our dreams, and lack the courage to simply be ourselves...and how to start choosing happiness again! Two copies available. My Sisters the Saints is a poignant and powerful spiritual memoir about how the lives of the saints changed the life of a modern woman. In My Sisters the Saints, author Colleen Carroll Campbell blends her personal narrative of spiritual seeking, trials, stumbles, and breakthroughs with the stories of six women saints who profoundly changed her life: Teresa of Avila, Therese of Lisieux, Faustina of Poland, Edith Stein of Germany, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and Mary of Nazareth. Drawing upon the rich writings and examples of these extraordinary women, the author reveals Christianity's liberating power for women and the relevance of the saints to the lives of contemporary Christians. No Wonder They Call It The Real Presence: Lives Changed By
Christ in Eucharistic Adoration by David Pearson. Many Catholics spend time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. David Pearson reports in a detailed interview the remarkable and inspiring stories of Catholics whose lives were transformed through their experience of Christ in Eucharistic Adoration. A Servant Book.

St. Patrick, Lake Mills—The Finance Committee and the Building and Grounds Committee for the parish have been working in recent weeks to find a solution to St. Patrick’s water problem in the church basement. At this time we are prepared to hire Midwest Basement Systems to fix the north wall of the basement. We have informed Father Dubert of our findings and he has approved the expenditure of approximately $6,000.00 to solve our wet basement problem. Please contact Paul Sorenson with any further questions.

Fr. Jim’s July 16, 2017 Column
Many of you have heard my surgery has been delayed for two weeks. I was scheduled for open heart surgery at St. Mary Hospital at Mayo Clinic in
Rochester, Minnesota on Wednesday morning July 5. I was diagnosed with a “bicuspid aortic valve”, a genetic defect from birth which eventually causes leakage in my heart and
needs to be replaced. Because it is a defective shaped valve, it requires open heart surgery. I will be in the hospital and skilled nursing for about two weeks, then have three
to five more weeks of recovery, hopefully here at the rectory. When I was getting ready to “go under” for the surgery on July 5, one of my surgeons
told me they found a “red cell auto-antibody in my blood”. This antibody could “clog” the heart/lung machine causing stroke, heart attack or death. They needed to postpone my
surgery that day to do blood tests to determine if my antibody was one with this problem. My blood was tested that afternoon and found not to be the antibody that clogged the
machine. But now my surgery had to be re-scheduled. The new date is Wednesday, July 19, basically a two-week delay. So, keep praying! A special thanks to all who have helped during this time, including many of you parishioners and friends. Special thanks go to Fr. Paul, the staff, and the
substitute priest for all their help, and all of you for your prayers and support. We will have coverage all weekends until I am able to fully recover. Even Archbishop Jackels will
be here on two weekends in August. Please continue to pray for a successful surgery and recovery for me, as I continue to pray for you.
St. Patrick, Britt: Father Dupert’s Surgery will take place on July 19, at 7:30 AM at the
Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Due to popular request, the church will be open during the day, for those who wish to come and say a prayer or light a candle etc. A Rosary will be
said during the time of the surgery which will start at 7:30 AM. The church will be locked again at 4:30 PM as there will be no mass at Britt on July 19.
