Grady Memorial Hospital The hospital in Atlanta plans on cutting an additional 120 jobs, including nurses, to savealmost 7 million dollars. These layoffs are due to shortages in the local and federal budget forthe poor and uninsured that have caused for severe budget cuts.

Johnson & JohnsonDue to their discontinuation of manufacture and development of heart stents, Johnson &Johnson plans to leave the market for the drug entirely and close down two factories and cutalmost 1,000 jobs. Lakeland Regional Medical Center
The Lakeland, Florida hospital spared nurses in their cut of 133 employees. On top of thelayoffs, the hospital cut almost 150 vacant positions resulting in 277 jobs eliminated. Most of the jobs lost were in non-management and non-clinical positions.NewsChief.com
Las Palmas del Sol Healthcare The healthcare system laid off 13 workers to consolidate jobs. These positions are only asmall percentage of the over two thousand workers in two general hospitals and otherfacilities in El Paso.El Paso Times

Ocala Health SystemOcala Health laid off 25 employees due to cuts in Medicaid funding and the slower admissionrates during the summer. These affected all areas of the hospitals and were in conjunctionwith efforts to reduce spending.Ocala.com
Piedmont HealthcarePiedmont is cutting 464 jobs, including physicians, to brace for lower reimbursement andhigher unpaid medical bills. The 5 hospitals under the system will see a total of 68 milliondollars cut from their spending. Atlanta Business Chronicle

St. John’s HospitalSt. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL is laying off 45 employees in an effort to rebalance theirstaff.
