The Fall Festival committee has been working hard to come up with ideas to better our Fall Festival, which will hopefully get more people to come to the square. This year, we will be moving the festival to Saturday and Sunday. While we love the support our community does give us for Friday nights, we believe our community and festival would be best served as a Satur- day/Sunday event, leaving Friday night to support our local youth involved in the heavily anticipated school activities. We are currently still in the early stages of planning, but we have already confirmed entertainment for Saturday evening with Thinga- Ma-Jug Band and headliner American Idol contestant and The Big Break Winner Cheyenne Goss. RFD-TV featured Bryan Dale- Headley, The Singing Blacksmith, will be on the square most of the day Saturday. Saturday morning will be packed with the parade at 10am and the antique car show. We will also have a variety of food & craft vendors and plenty of activities for all ages throughout the day Saturday. For Sunday, we are planning our first ever Gospel Day, with a variety of different music and events for the main stage from 9-4pm. Keith Kemp and Daring to Soar Ministries has joined the committee to help plan these events. Because Sunday is also 9/11 we are tentatively hoping to have a special presentation to honor those involved. The vendors and inflatables are scheduled to be on the square throughout the afternoon Sunday until 4pm. It will be a fun family day! As always please help us get the word out and remember that your support of the Fall Festival is crucial to our community growth and development. We are excited for this year’s events, and we hope you are too! Lets Celebrate Jasper County and show everyone how much we care about our community! New Chamber Members CCI Redimix 8560 N. Meet the board...

Hi! My name is Susan Spelbring. I have been a Jasper County Chamber Board member for a little over a year. I was born in Montgomery Indiana, I have four brothers. While growing up my family moved a lot due to my Dad’s job. Six different states, many cities and towns, we moved 12 times by the time I was 15 years old. I was always the new kid, never really having a home town. My sophomore year of high school we moved to Newton. I graduated from Newton Community High School in 1982 and married my husband Terry in 1983, we both currently work at the local Broom Factory. Moving around so much as a child makes you appreciate the small town charm of Newton. I love spending time with my family, and work-ing with the chamber of commerce. I am also a member of the Jasper County Cancer Support, the Order of the Eastern Star and I am proud to say “Newton is my home town”.

Jasper County Chamber of Commerce has launched a new website.

www.jasperchamber.com

Please take a look at this website. It has an interactive calendar where events may be submitted electronically for free. After

receiving your submitted event we will update the community calendar, put it on our Facebook page, as well as Channel 18 and the next month’s chamber newsletter, and the sign on square when available. We are hoping that this community

calendar will become the go to place for all of Jasper County.

DO YOU KNOW A JASPER COUNTY CITIZEN

WHO HAS INSPIRED OUR COMMUNITY AND IS LEADING US TO A PROSPEROUS AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE?

The Jasper County Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting nominations for the 2016 Citizen of the Year. This award is presented at the Jasper County

Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet in October at the Knights of Columbus Hall. You can pick up a nomination form at the Chamber office or one can be

mailed to you by calling 618-783-3399.

Jasper County Chamber Relocation Update

The renovation process in the former Worcester Building is coming along great. The Chamber board has completed most of the painting this week, Schackmann Construction is in the beginning stages of laying the flooring, Steve Jones will be completing the bathrooms, and Huddleston's Electric will add the finishing touches and electrical work. We are expecting to move near the end of July. Once the move is complete, our new Chamber office hours will be Monday through Friday from 9:00am-4:00pm. Suzie will remain in the office four days a week with our part-time assistant, Trina Marshall working one day a week. We are looking forward to all the new opportunities to serve the communi-ty with this new location.
