WELCOME to Elk River Lutheran Church

Welcome to Drive-In Church! Whether you are joining us in-person or online, we’re glad you’re here. Elk River Lutheran Church is a forward-thinking congregation made up of people of all ages. We are a pretty new church (formed in 2009), located in a remodeled bank building on the Mississippi River in downtown Elk River. Our mission is: Trusting in God’s grace, an accepting, joyful community, serving God and neighbor. We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and celebrate the work we’re able to do together as a denomination (to learn more about the ELCA visit www.elca.org). We welcome all people and as a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) congregation that welcome extends to the LGBTQ+ community. Our worship services include many elements of traditional Lutheran worship, like favorite hymns, liturgy, and celebrating Holy Communion every week (so if you’re joining us online, have bread and wine or grape juice and crackers ready). We also incorporate more modern elements like contemporary music, sermons that help connect faith to everyday life, engaging conversation, and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. We hope and pray you have a wonderful worship experience here today and invite you to join us again. If this is your first time visiting, or you have updated contact information, fill out our connection form here: https://www.elkriverlutheran.org/im-new-here.html

ORDER OF WORSHIP

WELCOME & INTRODUCTIONS OPENING SONG: “Magnificent, Marvelous, Matchless Love” VERSE 1 Magnificent, marvelous, matchless love Too vast and astounding to tell, Forever existing in worlds above, Now offered and given to all. Oh, fountain of beauty eternal, The Father, the Spirit, the Son, Sufficient and endlessly generous, Magnificent, marvelous, matchless love. VERSE 2 Creation is brimming with thankfulness, The mountains, exultant they stand, The seasons rejoice in Your faithfulness, All life is sustained by Your hand. You crown every meadow with color; You paint every shade in the sky. Each day the dawn wakes as an encore of Magnificent, marvelous, matchless love. CHORUS How great, how sure, God’s love endures forevermore. Magnificent, marvelous, matchless love.

VERSE 3 What grace that You entered our brokenness;

You came in the fullness of time. How far we had fallen from righteousness But not from the mercies of Christ. Your cross is our door to redemption; Your death is our fullness of life. That day, how forgiveness flowed as a flood, Magnificent, marvelous, matchless love. CHORUS BRIDGE United in Your resurrection, You lift us to infinite heights. Could anything sever or take us from Magnificent, marvelous, matchless love. CHORUS (2X)

PRAYER OF THE DAY Let us pray, God of mercy, we thank you that you are a God on the move, that your love is alive and active among us. Move us in when we feel stuck in life. Move your love from our heads to our hearts, from our Sundays to our Mondays, from our knowing to how we see those around us. We pray this in your name. Amen. SCRIPTURE READING: Deuteronomy 6:4-9 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. 6 Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. 7 Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. 8 Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem on your forehead, 9 and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

CHILDREN’S SERMON

SERMON Pastor Nathan Mugaas SONG OF THE DAY: “God of Grace and God of Glory” v1, 2 & 4 ELW #705 VERSE 1 God of grace and God of glory, on your people pour your pow'r; crown your ancient church's story; bring its bud to glorious flow'r. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage for the facing of this hour, for the facing of this hour. VERSE 2 Lo! the hosts of evil round us scorn the Christ, assail his ways! From the fears that long have bound us free our hearts to faith and praise. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage for the living of these days, for the living of these days,

VERSE 4 Save us from weak resignation to the evils we deplore; let the gift of your salvation be our glory evermore. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, serving you whom we adore, serving you whom we adore.

CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS In the name of the Father,

and of the ☩ Son,

and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. God of all mercy and consolation, come to the help of your people, turning us from our sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that we may confess our sin, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. Most merciful God, we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen. God, who is rich in mercy, loved us even when we were dead in sin, and made us alive together with

Christ. By grace you have been saved. In the name of ☩ Jesus Christ, your sins are forgiven.

Almighty God strengthen you with power through the Holy Spirit, that Christ may live in your hearts through faith. Amen. HOLY COMMUNION The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful God, through our Savior Jesus Christ; who on this day overcame death and the grave, and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. And so, with all the choirs of angels, with the church on earth and the hosts of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn: HOLY, HOLY, HOLY ONE Liturgy of Welcome

Holy, Holy, Holy One,

God of power, God of might. Holy, Holy, Holy One,

You fill the earth with Your glory and grace.

Blessed is the One Who brings hope and welcome to all

All praise, glory, and honor to you, our God!

Holy, Holy, Holy One,

God of power, God of might. Holy, Holy, Holy One,

You fill the earth with Your glory and grace. WORDS OF INSTITUTION LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,

thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us;

CHORUS VERSE 3 These are the ones we will serve, these are the ones we will love; all these are neighbors to us and you. CHORUS VERSE 4 Kneel at the feet of our friends, silently washing their feet: this is the way we will live with you. CHORUS

OFFERING

God of all creation, all you have made is good, and your love endures forever. You bring forth bread from the earth and fruit from the vine. Nourish us with these gifts, that we might be for the world signs of your gracious presence in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. SENDING BLESSING

Meet Rachel Kurtz at worship on Sunday morning, June 27th where she will lead music and share stories about life and faith, and then come back Sunday evening at 6:30 pm as she is joined by her full band for an amazing concert. Kurtz has been touring and singing for almost 20 years. She speaks frankly about love, God, parenting, heartbreak and her infectious laugh is peppered throughout her concerts. Her songs are rife with emotion and can make you get up and dance. Whether she is singing in a bar or church, her voice can cut through the noise and gives the listener a place to rest. She has sung at the last 6 national youth gatherings and her song "Make a Difference" is sung nationwide on any given Sunday.

Come on out to hear her sing, you will be surprised and delighted.
