June 2011 Presidentrsquos Message Side Shot
Fellow Surveyors Greetings I hope the message finds you all doing well and prospering during what appears to be an upward swing in the development side of the economy It has been three and a half long years of hard times for most of us I believe thinking outside of the ldquonormal boxrdquo of business has helped in the type of work we now do Before the down side of the collapse happen work flowed like the Nile River and for the most part if you were able to have a response for a client or potential client you had a signed agreement the same day Well that of course slowed to a small crawl and that meant jobs were lost for some employees and some businesses closed their doors and tried other things such as truck driving plumbing and even handyman services to feed their families I have respect for these professions and anyone who knows what they are confronted with and does what it takes to protect and care for their family So thinking inside the ldquonormalrdquo box is no longer a ldquonormalrdquo thing If you are having a hard time finding work I suggest you look outside the box for the ldquoNew Normalrdquo Membership has been on my mind lately and I encourage each of you to renew your membership mainly because well dues are due point blank On the other side of your membership dues there are benefits good ones to ensure our existence as a profession during good times and bad times like today There are many things that go on at the state level like legislation to be a voice when the rules are not conducive to our profession If you are a business owner general and professional li-ability insurance can be obtained at a significant rate reduction I know because I use that benefit I could go on about the benefits that you can enjoy as a member but I think if you went to the state CLSA web site you could read for yourself all the wonderful things that we as a profession have at our finger tips Website is real easy wwwcaliforniasurveyorsorg See I made it easy for you just cut and paste then you are well on your way to knowing what you are paying for I will leave you with an invite my wonderful wife Caren will be hosting a roast for my 50
th and yes I
will be turning the ripe old age of 50 Normally I do not invite people to my own celebration sounds kind of weird to me however she does not know most of you and she has asked me for emails phone numbers etc Well without missing anyone and to allow my laziness to prevail you are all in-vited on the 18
th of June Saturday at 3 PM till whenever at 43951 Barletta Street Temecula I look
forward to seeing you there if you would please email Caren at tccc90msncom to RSVP She wants to make sure there will be enough food and drinks for everyone Until then enjoy your month and as always ldquoHappy Surveyingrdquo Sincerely
