FROM THE COMMANDER Well, another Legion Year is coming to an end. Elections are over and I am proud to be your Commander for another year. I want to congratulate and welcome all the new officers of the Legion, Auxiliary, S A L and Legion Riders. I look forward to working with the Auxiliary, SAL and Legion Riders for another great year and want to thank them for all the hard work they have done for our Legion. Please check this issue’s calendar and schedule of events for dates and times of Dept. Convention, Flag Day, Awards Night and 4th of July Parade. In June, July and August we will not have Legion meetings on the 4th Thursday of the month. I must bring it to the members attention again, that in order to continue all breakfasts, lunches, dinners and many special functions requiring food being served, we desperately need more volunteers. Please submit your name to any officer of the Post. Kitchen Chairman Keith is working his butt off being there for us way over & beyond the call of duty. We need new bids on the contracts for our janitorial and yard maintenance services. Please turn your bid in by September 1st, 2013 For God and Country Your Commander Eddie Weber

FROM THE 1st VICE COMMANDER The Early Bird Membership drive for 2014 starts soon. Please renew early so we can make sure your legion magazine and benefits are continued. You also will get that great Early Bird Dinner later in the year. Renewing on-line is so easy and cost effective. The Legion and local post spends a lot of funds sending out renewal letters each year. Help us use this money for our programs and sponsorships for youth and veterans. Remember the Legion is only as strong as its members. You are the heart and soul of our Post 163. Your continued support and help in recruiting and attending post functions is vital to us staying the largest and most productive force in Brevard County. Thanks again for a very successful 2013 season. For God, Country and our Members

FROM THE PRESIDENT The end of my term in office is coming to an end. I want to thank everyone who helped me this year; too many to name, you know who you are. This has been a very trying year with the health problems, but I made it. Please welcome the ladies who have stepped up to take office. I am sure they will be doing a good job as most have had experience with different offices; I want to welcome all of them. President Ann King- Smith 1st Vice Janice Vilgats 2nd Vice Cheryl (CC) Coutermash Treasurer Cheri Hartman Chaplain Lorraine Theroux Sgt.-at-Arms Geraldine Musante

E C Board Pauline Nees & Donna Jacobsen-Fulfs We still need more ladies to step up and take the offices that are not filled. I welcome our new members, Christine Warner, Kathleen Little &, Toni Santarelli and four transfers: Jerri Meyers, Theda Ann Peeples, Debbie Clark & Jacqueline McAdams. I hope everyone makes you all feel welcome. Hope you all stay healthy and I will see you at the meetings. For God and Country Pauline Nees President UPCOMING EVENTS SCHEDULE

FROM THE S. A. L. COMMANDER June – Whew!! We made it through another election!!. Thanks to all of you for your vote of confidence. With all your help and new ideas for the future, I will try to take S.A.L. Squadron # 163 to new heights. S.A.L. Squadron # 163 line up for the year 2013 - 2014 is as follows:

Commander - Jerry Larson 1st vice comm. - Rob Fowler 2nd Vice Comm. - Dallas McManus Sgt. at Arms - John Latier Asst. Sgt at Arms - Richard Christesson Finance - Jerry Larson Adjutant - Rex Schad Chaplain - Rodger Holt Liaison - John Latier Historian – Open

Please don't forget to recruit new members. Our squadron needs new blood not just "Card Carriers" like Madam President Pauline has mentioned. I'll have more about that subject next month. I would like to thank all involved for your help with our “Annual Hog Roast, " John "Smoker" Latier, Richard, Rob, Rex, and our bartenders for their outrageous potato salad. We really could not have done it without you all. (Sorry no ya'll. I’m from N.Y.) Wouldn’t sound right from me. Don't forget to check this month’s calendar for upcoming events. See ya ‘round the post!

For God and Country Your S.A.L. Commander Jerry Larson FROM THE LEGION RIDER DIRECTOR It’s the end of another year and time for me to step down as Director. Congratulations to the new officers, I’m sure they will stay with the rich traditions we have established in our short but productive two years. Thank you to everyone who helped make our “Spring Thunder Run” a safe and fun success. The food was GREAT, the band was awesome and I hope everyone had fun. As everyone has said, we need volunteers to be successful so, come and help out, it’s fun and rewarding. Summer time, too hot for some riders, the best time for others, so be safe, have fun and help support all the Post activities. Still Riding and Serving Your Legion Rider Director Mike Torpey
