A message from the Board-Got Ice?
If you haven’t heard, your Rosemount Hockey Association has been making a little noise in recent months. Along with all of the great things our girls and boys have been doing on the ice, a few of us have been busy off the ice meeting with city officials and others regarding the shortage of ice in Rosemount. As much as I’d like to report that the City recognizes the need and is ready to get started on a new rink, it’s not that easy. We’ve done a good job pulling together compelling facts and figures that clearly lay out the need for more ice, however, the City has the responsibility of be-ing good stewards of our tax dollars. More than a good story is needed before they can agree to in-vesting substantial dollars into a new rink.
It’s now time for all of us to get involved to help city officials recognize that a new facility is some-thing that would be a great benefit to Rosemount’s youth. RAHA has seen significant growth in re-cent years which is expected to continue; in particular with the popularity of our program, the suc-cess of our teams and all of the new housing development and young families moving into Rose-mount. Until additional ice is found, we will continue to struggle to secure enough ice to support this growth and to provide our kids with the ice needed to maintain and improve upon our already strong program.
♦ RAHA Numbers and Facts: 2013-2014 registration numbers for RAHA exceeded 500 participants - 11% higher than last season and 19% higher over the last two seasons
♦ RAHA’s Initiation Program (Mites, Mini-mites and 8U girls) participation increased by more than 24% over last season
♦ 31 first year girls joined RAHA this year compared to 15 last year
♦ We are anticipating 3-4 more traveling teams next season along with continued growth in the number of IP participants
♦ RAHA acquired 1300 hours of ice last season (excluding away games and tournaments) which was about 300 hours short of what we wanted
♦ Last season, all traveling teams had practices that ended after 10:00PM on school nights
♦ All teams had 7:00 AM weekend practices last season. In order to accommodate our needs, 6:00 AM practices are likely to return next season.
Members of the RAHA board have held meetings with the Park and Rec Commission, the City Council, Mayor Droste and others. We are currently working with the Rosemount Park and Rec to develop a business plan which will provide an understanding of area demographics and costs asso-ciated with building and operating a second facility. We are also in discussions with past board members and private parties exploring the possibility of a non-city owned facility.

What can you do? Communicate with city officials and make sure your voice is heard. If you know a council member, the mayor or the city administrator, let them know that an additional sheet of ice is something that is desperately needed in Rosemount. You can also send them an email, a letter or give them a call. The more they hear, the more they will recognize the need as well as the posi-tive impact this would have on the city. Along with supporting our RAHA program, additional ice will be a huge draw for local businesses. More ice will keep Rosemount families in Rosemount and bring out of town families in for tournaments, games and summer hockey programs.
For more information on RAHA’s need for additional ice as well as ideas on alternative off-season use of a new facility, please visit rosemounthockey.org. We’ve provided a link to the packet of infor-mation that was provided to City officials earlier this year. We also have links to articles regarding our story that were published in the Pioneer Press and the Rosemount Town Pages.
Craig Nelson, RAHA President

News - RAHA Total Hockey Team Rewards Program
RAHA Total Hockey Team Rewards Program
Register now and receive a free $10 Rewards Card
Total Hockey is proud to offer Team Rewards, a loyalty program designed specifically for
hockey associations and teams. This program provides you with the rewards you want and
allows you to use them how you want.
HOW IT WORKS
Each player receives a free team-branded Total Hockey Silver Breakaway membership card. The cards are provided to
the association to deliver to the players. In addition, each player receives a $10 Gift Reward to Total Hockey simply for
signing up.
When a player shops at Total Hockey, both the individual and the team earn rewards. The individual receives one point
for every $1 spent. Throughout the year, we track the total purchase amount from the individual players as well as the
organization and provide the association with a 3% rebate, which can be used in a variety of ways throughout the sea-
son.
HOW CAN TEAM REWARDS BE USED?
Team Rewards can be used toward a team purchase (e.g. jerseys, socks, warm-ups, accessories, etc.) throughout the
season. In some instances, rewards may also be applied to sponsorships that support the team. The purpose of the pro-
gram is to reward teams and players for their loyalty to Total Hockey.
Total Hockey recognizes that you and your team choose to shop at Total Hockey and this is one way to show our appre-
ciation for you, our loyal customers.
HOW MUCH DOES TEAM REWARDS COST?
The Team Rewards program is FREE. And we reward you just for signing up – 15 days after registration, each player
will receive a $10 Gift Reward to Total Hockey via email. There is no catch and no hidden fees. We just need a valid
email address and zip code to register each player.
WHAT HAPPENS TO EXISTING BREAKAWAY REWARDS ACCOUNTS?
If you are currently a Breakaway Rewards member, your current member status (Silver, Gold, Platinum) will not change.
Your Breakaway Rewards account number will remain the same. Your account will also now reflect your team name.
Every purchase made at Total Hockey will now benefit both the individual player and the entire team.
Ready to start earning Team Rewards or do you have a team sales question? We are here to help.
